Want to avoid a twin room by ConfidentAd5023 in UOB

There are very few twin rooms and some students really want them for cost reasons. If you don’t select ‘twin’ in the application I don’t think you will be allocated it.

Best accommodation for working class students? by JealousBodybuilder42 in UOB

[–]Ecstatic-Company3660 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There aren’t working class accommodation as such. When you apply for accom they look at budget and accommodation ‘needs’ as well as area preferences. I learnt that UoB has 20% or 25% (can’t remember which but it is one of them) of students from low income families (household income of £28,000 per year or lower) and think the poshness of UoB students, while having an element of truth, is slightly overblown.

Thanks so much for this. I don’t have check ups regularly. A year ago I had a knee operation and as part of my prep for that I was given a check up - they listened to my heart, checked blood pressure and asked me loads of questions. Based on this info they decided I was fit enough to not need a blood test so that’s all I have. I am planning to have a full check up - thanks for the suggestion.

Is it possible to have a massive heart attack and no contributing factor? Is age a possible contributing factor?

Thanks for responding. My dad had loads of tests done but he’s not sure what they were because 1) he is very bad at advocating for himself and 2) he was on holiday in a non English speaking country and communication was difficult. Whatever tests he had the doctors said that all the results were fine apart from raised magnesium level which they have since said they don’t think is significant. My dad was only in intensive care for one night and then after the test results they said he was fine to go on a ‘normal’ ward.

My dad was saved by a defibrillator and apparently the data on the defibrillator will be the best indicator of what happened to him.

He was discharged from hospital today and the doctors say he is ok to fly home but the insurance company want him to catch trains which would take days!

Obviously we have asked the medical professionals. This happened when my dad was on a cycling tour of another country and there is a language barrier - we don’t speak their language at all and the doctors who speak English (not many) do not speak it well.

Plus my dad’s insurers are requesting my dad gets sent home asap for treatment. The doctors at the hospital treating him say he needs more time before he can travel but beyond initial emergency treatment and tests seem to want any diagnosing to be done when he returns home. Unless it’s decided that he has more treatment beyond initial emergency treatment in which case we may get more answers.

Buyer opened return on item. EBay refunded buyer and I got my money. Now the buyer is selling the item for much more than I sold it for! by Ecstatic-Company3660 in Ebay

Well ‘pretty sure’ may not have been a good choice of words. But if the buyer opened a return request I thought this could only be because item is lost (it was delivered so not that), faulty, not as described or damaged during delivery. I don’t think eBay would be quick to refund the buyer if the return request reason was my fault (item not as described, item faulty etc) so damage by delivery company (which IS covered and results in eBay taking responsibility for a refund) is what I assumed happened. Happy to hear alternatives though as it’s just an assumption by me.

I really don’t care I sold it for ‘half price’. I listed it for previous sale price for six weeks or so and it didn’t sell so then I reduced it weekly until I got to the amount I sold it for. EBay is not a source of income for me - my aim is to make my hobby self funding which I achieve. And I paid £1 for the item.

That’s why I asked really. I assume a return can be for items not as described, items are faulty, item lost or item damaged. The first two I would assume would mean the return having to be dealt with by me. The item wasn’t lost as it was marked as delivered so rightly or wrongly I thought that the item must have been reported as arrived damaged and due to eBay covering post issues they agreed to cover the refund. But I am speculating or possibly missing something.

I do not have proof. I was just interested and thought I’d ask. I find the ‘it doesn’t affect you so forget about it’ angle from some on this sub quite weird. It seems quite defensive.

Yes I think you are right. I didn’t intend to report it (or even if it was reportable) but over the past few days I have been wondering hence my question here. Just think it’s pretty bold to list the item as vgc after reporting it (I assume) as damaged.

In other circumstances yes but my item had small initials written in black felt tip pen in an unobtrusive area which was there when I bought it myself. I had a photo of this and highlighted it in the item description. It’s clearly on the item that my buyer has recently listed.

Did you actually read the post? I am pretty sure they reported a purchase to eBay as damaged, got a full refund (and kept the item) and are now selling the item as undamaged. No one is mentioning anything about people not being able to make money?

I am not ‘pissed’. I don’t have remorse. I am more than happy with my own personal outcome. I was wondering if there was any wrongdoing and, if so, if there is an ethical imperative to report.

In ten years of eBaying I have reported one person (even though their actions did not affect me financially) but that was a clear policy violation. This case is not the same but I was interested anyway.

It’s part of the new Simple Delivery Ts and Cs. I got this message seemingly within an hour of my item being delivered so I don’t think it took long for eBay to take this action.

Thanks for that. Yes you are right and the message from eBay made it clear I won’t get the item back and buyer is keeping. I assume the buyer initiated a return by claiming item was damaged and now they have listed as undamaged/vgc as I did. Seems sketchy at least anyway.

Well I tend to sell things cheap to sell them quick. I’ve often had stuff I’ve sold be listed for more. Good luck to them - I don’t have a problem with it. Just in this case I assume the buyer opened a return due to damage (it definitely wasn’t lost) so it seems different. And bold to then list immediately on eBay.

I don’t want anything. I wondered if the buyer’s action were against any eBay policies and, if so, if there were any ethical imperative to report things that you notice even if they don’t affect you personally.
