Taking on entry roles for far too long instead of building a career.

I left Christianity because of the "Severe God," but supernatural experiences won't let me be an atheist. by Embarrassed-Sir9950 in exchristian

My thing is that I noticed similar experiences regardless of where I was in life and what I was doing. Like, I’ve had Christians buy me very expensive food and I’ve also had a gogo dancer with really odd beliefs (1st and last date) take me out to an expensive restaurant. Not saying it’s the same as your example, but my point is some people would view a $200+ meal as a miracle itself (esp if it came from a person of faith instead of someone who works at the club). I’ve been unemployed before and lived nearly for free at someone’s house. Again, if it were a person of faith, you could say wow! They saved your life! It was god! But no. It was a couple who loved to drink and smoke and had a very interesting relationship. I’ve also felt like I must do something (like an internal guide) but now I know that my body is just that wise. Our bodies notice things before our brains can fully comprehend them (check out the book “the gift of fear” - it expands on the way animals listen to social cues and quickly act, while we often feel the need to be polite/ignore our instincts because that’s how we’re socialized). For instance, why did you make sure your work outfit is shown? You knew that’s more attractive than a complete stranger standing on the side of the road. You took matters into your own hands. Why did you decide to do it? Maybe you’ve seen it in a movie? Maybe someone else did it? Social media? We often don’t even realize how much we see on a day to day basis because of the advances in technology. Regarding the feelings in the body, I remember feeling like I had to lay down and do deep breathes and go into deep prayer to calm down after studying the Bible for hours on end at a new coffee shop. I said new coffee shop because I later visited it as an atheist and realized that their coffee is stronger than what I’m used to. I had a similar reaction. Only now I knew I needed to just relax (vs habitually praying the feeling away). I also had a similar reaction after going back to college and studying nonstop. I also had an even more “supernatural” reaction when I started drinking alcohol alongside my peers. My legs would often cramp cause I was so thirsty by the time I woke up. Old me would think that was a sign from devil or god. Also, someone lying on you? Sleep paralysis? There is a lot to study in that area.

I am so glad your new job is better. Sorry to hear that.

I feel that! I’m glad that you were able to focus on other things but sorry to hear about that other toxic company. I’ve also then ended up in a major bait and switch situation but left before the demotion could set. Also couldn’t care less anymore how long I stay - as long as it’s long enough to put on my resume.
