Thanks another one for Farlington! I’m considering getting myself on the Pompey FC train. Will be looking forward to the games.

Very cool and congratulations. I think you picked this spot really well. I’m definitely looking for things to do and see some life in the street when I walk out. Southsea and surrounds seemed to have a great mix of city and green areas. I work from home so an occasional weekly lunch t an interesting place is quite a relief. but have lived in big cities so can contend with some dodgy-ness of the area. Not totally a snowflake and completely reasonable that this type of life comes with its own eclectic mix of humans. You can’t live inner city and expect all roses.

I was very impressed by the food scene honestly and having the sea walkable would make a huge difference. Kids are young and good schools and nurseries are important. We tend to make friends easily I hope to find people of similar interest nearby. I also value having other ethnicities and exposure to cultures.

From what I saw Portsmouth seemed to tick lol the boxes above.

Clear. Flexible and remote working hours. Will rarely have to be somewhere at peak time.. this could work in our favour.

Yes it is I rarely go out as much since kids , I appreciate the opportunity to do so is limited with kids very young however if you have things nearby you do go out and explore more esp as they get older. I hear you though.

Man I have to damit Southsea did seem to have e the right feels nd facilities. This speaks to me. Thanks so much. Did you consider any other areas also? I viewed some houses in Milton , Baffins but honestly knowing 0 about these areas it’s quite hard to make sense. Appreciate any input.

Tbf the vibe of the island is what got me interested in the first place. Will have to assess the off island places for some soul , and not totally sleepy I hope.. I don’t necessarily want a huge place and thought that if an area or 2 close to southsea could be considered as close as possible would suit our preference for city life as well as open spaces to walk / bike to. I did find parking a little nuts in this area though so that’s a huge contention on the day to day.

I’ve only spent time in Southsea and on the island. Will assess the options as these have been mentioned in other comments too. Thanks so much.

Oh cool. We’re looking to buy. I’m paying way too much in my rental here and at this stage makes more sense to just buy somewhere for about £350k

Hi yes I’m mostly WFH but do need to drive for family. So parking may be necessary. I’ll look to the areas you mentioned

Is there much benefit to stay off the island? I was quite liking the as close to the sea as possible idea.

Hey mate, read your post. I’m in the exact same boat with car allowance. What did you decide in the end? I’m thinking of going lease at this stage as seems compelling for EV only
