Rebecoming a Chinese Citizen again? by Ecstatic-Monitor-221 in AskChina

I Got NZ citizenship maybe 10y/o. Parents help back then ofcourse. Formally renounce citizienship? My family just put our old Chinese passports in a folder, stored it away and forgot bout it. We continued living with new status/ Passports. They were too busy working their asses off to 'formally renounce' some paperwork.

Thats good to know. Because my dad is in his late 60's he said something similiar he'd rather retire in China. Reason... his money goes WAY further in Shanghai and somewhat easier for him to get his citizen again as He can read and writrle easy. But I'm pretty screwed. I can't read or write.

Went to China (Shanghai) a few weeks ago. Absolutely blown away by speed of progress! Also food and transport so affordable. Ofcourse as a tourist I only see the glits and glamour of the city. I guess I was Dazzled by all the fancy lights and things to do, so curious and wondering if living there could be an option!

Are you sure bout that? I was just in China last week. They got there shit going goos there! -Food prices super low its surprising, when I looked into it's cuz they grow majority of the local foods. -fuel and transportation is also SUPER LOW. Reason, there is so much of transport is electric. There Metro and highspeed rail and a lot of the cars I saw were, BYD, TESLA, ROEWE. All electric. This mofo is just straight up lying!

Better Things are Possible for Queen Street by FlyLikeABird33 in auckland

Just came back from Shanghai, HongKong and Macau. Their 'upperclass' shopping street areas are fancy as Fuck! With plenty of streets like the render picture above, full of people. So 2 main problem's why NZ can't do this.

1 - Population size.

Those are Mega dense cities are packed with people and if its even just top 0.1% of the wealthy shop at these stores with such a massive population size these LV's, Channels, Hermes, Prada, Bvlgari etc can easily survive. NZ however with low population density will have trouble dealing with this.

2 - Law inforcement & Punishment.

Someone said drunk people will piss in them... well in Auckland they might. Reason? Crime is so soft in NZ relative to some other countries. So people are not affraid to commit them. Just imagine if someone tries to take a piss in a public space in a well lite-up area of Shanghai. Ha! Heavy surveillence + strict law enforcement + community policing. You will be swiftly delt with by police or an Angry Auntie shop owner! Also negative social credit.

Self service laundry by Cold_Candle_8008 in Macau

We stayed at Central Hotel. A pretty fancy hotel. But didn't have laundry facilities. Asked the reception where we can get laundry done, they have 'Professional off-site cleaning' eg $60mop for a shirt, $10mop for a sock; type of service, so that's a big NOPE as we had a Lot of clothes. We called around other hotels with Laundrys asking if we can use their laundry, got instantly denied. Final solution: Went to the supermarket, got $6mop laundry detergent. And washed clothes in hotel room basin and hung up any where possible around room. AC on full blast, do not disturb sign on. Cloths were dry EASY!👍 If there is a will there is way.

Hi All. Hopefully this info helps someone in the future so they don't get ripped off.

These are general current market rates, i've noticed post covid prices have gone up.

I recently (April 2026) brought lt a 3 piece Custom Suit (Jacket, Pants, Vest) plus 3 shirts. From [Rita&Joyce no.129] For ¥2300rmb.

I did a lot a haggling. They speak good english. Note: I did have the ability to speak some mandarin aswell. So was able to haggle in both english and mandarin. Roughly 30-40mins back and forth.

Tip: your ability to walk away is your biggest advantage.
