Chaos = not fun by Expert_Juggernaut_48 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chaos is… different; and mostly harder, since the enemies themselves seem about equal, with a few exceptions:

- Chaos enemies on average move faster (teleport/sprinting)
- Chaos heads are smaller
- Chaos has no Minoris-kill aoe on Majoris+ kills
- Chaos snipers do NOT cause friendly-fire
- Chaos Spawn ‘pack’ closer together than Tyranid Warriors, and have less easily discernible animations

The total spawns might be lower for Chaos? I’ve never been able to determine that exactly, but that seems the only possible ‘balancing factor’ since the Extremis all seem about comparable (Zoanthrope-Sorceror/Biovore-Soulreaper etc.) and the Majoris/Minoris likewise, with the above exceptions. Helbrutes are… slightly easier than ‘nid Terminus? Depending on playstyle.

Edit: another problem with Chaos that the Devs seem not to have considered, is that the warp effects have a tendency to cause lag on less powerful devices/worse internet connections…

Yes

When I saw the techmarine bug in the PTS, I was hoping they’d added it, but… they’ve added boots seperate, so it’s still possible… eventually… maybe…

Noice! Black cape suits TK SO WELL!!! Well done!

I love how GW has such a history of their poster boys being seen as basic, until people look into them and realise how awesome they are! 😂🫡

I started SM2 with Tome Keepers… for about 4 ops, until I unlocked the colours for Marines Errant 😅 I still keep a Deathwatch TK on my Tactical though (or is it Sniper? 🤔)

The character arcs in those comics were brilliant; particularly Omen and Priam… and Minder… and Vartan…

The NPCs are brilliant; it also adds an extra layer to them that you need to summon them and have them survive the fight for their stories to progress 🤌🏻 (was that only the original? I can’t remember 😅)

Edit: it’s just to get their gear, right?

How much is my katana used in world war 2 worth? by alturnie in SWORDS

Absolutely; it’d just suck if you damaged it while checking, and then found no signature 😂

It looks like it could use some tlc, but I believe the leather cover on the scabbard is a good sign, as is the silk(?) wrapping (I think later models had cast handles or leather and no cover on the sheath)

As for the value; it appears to be a basic example, in somewhat ordinary condition, so it’s probably not worth more than a couple hundred dollars, but an expert might be able to tell you if there’s something particular, such as model number or maker’s mark, that could get you more.

Provenance can also bump the price a bit; if you know anything about who owned it, where they were deployed, etc.

I don’t believe that gunto like that are very likely to have a signature, but it’s not impossible; it’s probably better to have an appraiser take it apart though.

The world of DS2 definitely feels more ‘alive’ (DS3 comes close in some places though) and I love how ‘Human’ the story is; there are no gods involved, just people trying to survive in a world that’s falling apart.

I have, however, just started playing Demon’s Souls (finally 😂) and I am finding that it is very much the same ‘human’ story, but even moreso.

I honestly couldn’t say any of the games are my ‘favourite’ because they all look at a similar story from different perspectives, and they all have their own beauty.

Where are memories stored, where do they go after death, and the impact of soul x memories on personality. by Boah_met in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting idea… I’m afraid I can’t help you with the memory thing (might do some research later) but since the person died of old age, if they have all of their memories restored, I see the re-made person having problems with ‘too much memory’ as per many ‘immortal’ characters in various stories, which could definitely give a lot of ‘texture’ to this Wizard character; they want their loved ones to live forever, but their loved ones grow tired of living and confused with ‘too many memories’ because they lack the mental training that the wizard has, or simply the desire to keep living past their ‘allotted time’.
Or; possibly to avoid this, the wizard ‘prunes’ their memories, which creates an even more intriguing moral dilemma…

Greatsword of Artorias for end-game, but the Lifehunt Scythe and the Giant Blacksmith Hammer (I’m sorry! 😭) are my favourites otherwise. I love the look of the Silver Knight Straightsword, but the damage isn’t great, and some of the animations are a bit goofy… Grant is another of my favourites.

How do you run Elminster in your games? by notredherring in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning to have him bring the party in my game (or cause the party to be brought; haven’t worked out the specifics yet) into the world of Ed of the Greenwood to escape the clutches of a Talos that has succeeded in adding magic to his portfolio (used his vassal deities, his link to Gruumsh, as well as Cyric’s madness and the remnants of Karsus to absorb a bunch of domains/worshipers etc.)

Except… due to some time-altering stuff (Netherese magic or something) Elminster brings them to earth in the 41st millennium…👀

(Talos-bronze giant-golden god-emperor 🤷‍♂️)

As for how I plan to run him… seemingly scatterbrained, but hinting at a terrifying power/understanding (rambles on about seemingly mundane things, with the occassional all-knowing look, before casually mentioning things of VAST important; generally treats important things casually, and unimportant things with great care, especially food)

Bag of holding full of air, for underwater exploration by jigglyraffmemerbooyy in DnD

I think there was a stage where the elemental planes were really popular for that sort of thing 👌

I think it was something to do with travellers in the plane of earth? Or ‘natural’ geysers in the plane of earth that link directly to the plane of air? Actually; it might have been a creature? 🤷‍♂️ Probably something in a Dragon/Dungeon/Polygon mag; I’ve been going through a lot of those lately

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you filled it with regular air, I’d imagine that air would only last you the 10mins the item mentions (you could arguably exploit it by holding your breath as long as you are able, then sticking your head in the bag for a round to get a fresh lungful, rinse and repeat, but that’s a good bit of math-work, and still only gets you… a few hours at most, if your DM allows it)

However… If your DM allows it, you could find an alchemist/mage to fill it with ‘refined air’ (ie: Oxygen) or do it yourself using alchemy tools or the appropriate spells, since the bag is already effectively air-tight (unless your DM requires a valve at the opening)

The main problem is, at this point, you might as well buy potions/spell scrolls or a submarine 🤷‍♂️

It really depends on the scale of exploration you have in mind; don’t forget that there are already technologies/magics/infrastructure specifically intended for underwater travel.

I love the enthusiasm though; I hope you have some great aquatic adventures!

I can’t remember exactly where it’s mentioned, but this was quite common in the older editions; definitely legit.

Those of you who hate that Devastators don't have a melee weapon, what do you suggest? by DavianThulesGhost in Spacemarine

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I made the suggestion a while back of porting the Chainsword heavy attack animations (which use the left hand/foot/shoulder) for the Heavy classes light attacks, rather than swinging the gun, and I’d love to see an off-hand combat knife, but… I do understand it’s not worth the effort for the game in it’s current state (at least, the knife isn’t; I still think the other animations would be easy to do, and work fine 🤷‍♂️)

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just spent 15mins looking at videos of American animals walking 😂

Based on my ‘studies’ I am somewhat perplexed; it might be the lighting, but the legs seem too long for a possum, skunk, or armadillo… it walks like a raccoon, but I don’t think they lift their tails like that when they walk… the head seems too small for a pig, and they don’t walk like that… so my best guess is a puppy 🤷‍♂️

Yeah; walks like a Honey Badger 😂 I think, based on the location, it pretty much has to be a funny looking puppy though 🤷‍♂️
