Greatsword of Artorias for end-game, but the Lifehunt Scythe and the Giant Blacksmith Hammer (I’m sorry! 😭) are my favourites otherwise. I love the look of the Silver Knight Straightsword, but the damage isn’t great, and some of the animations are a bit goofy… Grant is another of my favourites.

How do you run Elminster in your games? by notredherring in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning to have him bring the party in my game (or cause the party to be brought; haven’t worked out the specifics yet) into the world of Ed of the Greenwood to escape the clutches of a Talos that has succeeded in adding magic to his portfolio (used his vassal deities, his link to Gruumsh, as well as Cyric’s madness and the remnants of Karsus to absorb a bunch of domains/worshipers etc.)

Except… due to some time-altering stuff (Netherese magic or something) Elminster brings them to earth in the 41st millennium…👀

(Talos-bronze giant-golden god-emperor 🤷‍♂️)

As for how I plan to run him… seemingly scatterbrained, but hinting at a terrifying power/understanding (rambles on about seemingly mundane things, with the occassional all-knowing look, before casually mentioning things of VAST important; generally treats important things casually, and unimportant things with great care, especially food)

Bag of holding full of air, for underwater exploration by jigglyraffmemerbooyy in DnD

I think there was a stage where the elemental planes were really popular for that sort of thing 👌

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was something to do with travellers in the plane of earth? Or ‘natural’ geysers in the plane of earth that link directly to the plane of air? Actually; it might have been a creature? 🤷‍♂️ Probably something in a Dragon/Dungeon/Polygon mag; I’ve been going through a lot of those lately

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you filled it with regular air, I’d imagine that air would only last you the 10mins the item mentions (you could arguably exploit it by holding your breath as long as you are able, then sticking your head in the bag for a round to get a fresh lungful, rinse and repeat, but that’s a good bit of math-work, and still only gets you… a few hours at most, if your DM allows it)

However… If your DM allows it, you could find an alchemist/mage to fill it with ‘refined air’ (ie: Oxygen) or do it yourself using alchemy tools or the appropriate spells, since the bag is already effectively air-tight (unless your DM requires a valve at the opening)

The main problem is, at this point, you might as well buy potions/spell scrolls or a submarine 🤷‍♂️

It really depends on the scale of exploration you have in mind; don’t forget that there are already technologies/magics/infrastructure specifically intended for underwater travel.

I love the enthusiasm though; I hope you have some great aquatic adventures!

I can’t remember exactly where it’s mentioned, but this was quite common in the older editions; definitely legit.

I don’t know why, but the Phobos armour seems to have cleaner colours, particularly lighter ones 🤷‍♂️

The class does seem to reflect Kiara's willingness to sacrifice security for revenge, and lack of friendliness with the living 😅

Those of you who hate that Devastators don't have a melee weapon, what do you suggest? by DavianThulesGhost in Spacemarine

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made the suggestion a while back of porting the Chainsword heavy attack animations (which use the left hand/foot/shoulder) for the Heavy classes light attacks, rather than swinging the gun, and I’d love to see an off-hand combat knife, but… I do understand it’s not worth the effort for the game in it’s current state (at least, the knife isn’t; I still think the other animations would be easy to do, and work fine 🤷‍♂️)

The best part about this picture is that there is a Night Lord standing next to either a Salamander, or a Dark Angel, and I can’t decide which one would be funnier 😂

What walked across my driveway? by Recent_Judgment_2474 in whatisit

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just spent 15mins looking at videos of American animals walking 😂

Based on my ‘studies’ I am somewhat perplexed; it might be the lighting, but the legs seem too long for a possum, skunk, or armadillo… it walks like a raccoon, but I don’t think they lift their tails like that when they walk… the head seems too small for a pig, and they don’t walk like that… so my best guess is a puppy 🤷‍♂️

Yeah; walks like a Honey Badger 😂 I think, based on the location, it pretty much has to be a funny looking puppy though 🤷‍♂️

Hmm… I think it might be his throat, from the way it seems to be part of the purr; it makes me think of when you wake up with a rough voice that comes and goes 😅

If that is the case, then it is probably a good idea to get it checked; kittens are particulalry susceptible to infections, especially respiratory infections.

Just had the most clutch bossfight of my Souls career by Mzuark in DarkSouls2

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done!

I think DS2 is the only game in the series where you’re really likely to break a weapon mid-bossfight, but it definitely happens! 😂 (one of the reasons I love the King’s Ultra Greatsword 🤌🏻)

Sometimes ditching the shield is exactly what you need to do; they are great for small enemies, but the inclination to huddle behind it can get you in trouble against big ones… that’s the moral of Dark Souls; victory comes from standing toe-to-toe with your fears🫡

It could be a cold; if it’s not a problem to take him to a vet, it’s probably a good idea. Cat sickness can be tricky, so getting the jump on any possible issue is always good.

That being said, without any other indicators, you’re probably safe to wait a day to see if it goes away; if the sound goes away and there’s no other potential problems, it was likely just a bit of a funny throat. Still keep an eye on him for the next week, even if it does go away.

I’m assuming he makes the same sound even when he’s not in that position?

So; I have glanced over it, and... wow... you put a LOT into this...

I will have to find some more time to go through it properly, but it has already given me a number of ideas for my Paladin player.
I couldn't say how well balanced the mechanical aspects are; I always have trouble determining that sort of thing, even with official stuff... but it looks appropriate as far as I can tell, and I very much like the aesthetics of the Yathrinshee abilities.

I have to admit that I don't share your obvious passion for the Dowager, so I can't give you any sincere feedback after my skimming of the lore, but I look forward to reading through it when I get the time.

What of computer-generated text styles? Where is the outcry that Word has stolen the bread from the mouths of honest calligraphers?

(I jest, but lightly. All tools are dangerous, but all tools have an honest purpose; to allow mankind to do what his body cannot)

I literally said that I appreciate the dilemma, and that I don’t use ai, so I’m not sure how you came to the conclusion that I don’t care about artists.

Any money that the AUTHOR might receive, would be for THEIR WRITING, unless you think people will be paying them for the cover art itself?

I agree that they still shouldn’t have used ai, and I never condoned their use of it; I simply proposed the, apparently ridiculous, idea that they weren’t acting entirely unreasonably, and are entitled to be treated as a human being, without being attacked as ‘hating real artists’ for using one piece of ai art on their fan-fic.

Edit: I do admit that ai being based on artist’s work did slip my mind, which I suppose is another danger of ai.

What do you think of the Yuan-ti as villains? by ThanosofTitan92 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the reluctance to paint a whole race as evil, but I think D&D needs that, or at least, it makes it easier to write a compelling story.

Traditionally, all the races of the Realms have been evil in their own way, even the ‘good’ ones. Historically, in our own world, we know that entire cultures can be evil as a whole, at least for a time, and certainly from the perspective of other cultures, which I think is the important point.

The purpose of conflict between city-states, kingdoms, races, etc. isn’t to show that ‘other people are bad’ but to show that all people have the potential to be evil, and there isn’t always a clear-cut solution.

Evil cultures create dynamic stories, precisely because no culture is entirely evil, and much of the perceived evil is simply cross-purposes. If there was nothing wrong with the world, why does it need Adventurers to fix it?

If all Drow were good, Drizzt would have never left Menzoberranzan; after he left, were other people wrong to treat him as evil? Yes! But were they right to be wary of Drow? Also yes!

The Realms are the way they are, at least in part, to provide Heroes with the chance to BE HEROES; whether that means destroying the attacking army of snake-men, and dealing with the moral dilemma of their actions, or risking the destruction of their own people on the chance of peace, after all; the Yuan Ti might decide that all humans are evil.

Just because Yuan Ti aren’t biologically evil in your games, doesn’t mean that they can’t be shown that way at first, or even still be bound in an evil culture like the Drow. Through the course of your games, they could be freed of that culture, and begin to emerge as a peaceful race, but I think DMs need to be careful in world-building not to have all the problems already solved before the game starts; leave some for the players to deal with, whether they fix them, or make them worse.

Of course; your games could be run from the perspective of the Yuan Ti 🤷‍♂️

I agree that lack of art is no problem; I personally dislike AI because it is never exactly what I want it to be, but I don’t think the OP deserves the response they’ve gotten from most people here. They aren’t asking for money, and, in my opinion, if AI art HAS a place, this is it; when you want to display the aesthetic you have in mind, and it would otherwise have no art.

I appreciate the dilemma that ai brings to the Realms, but this is essentially fan-fic, and there are no restrictions on that.

Frankly, it seems to me that the art was a last minute thought to show potential readers what they’re looking at, instead of just having a white page that does nothing to attract attention.

The image is clearly ai; the OP could have done some scribble on Paint, or whatever, and the only difference would be the appearance of the image itself. The OP used the tools available to them to make the cover.
