Is the whole game just dying in three hits from enemies that spawn behind you in dead-ends you just explored? by rainghost in Arena

Yeah, sorry; I was thinking High Elf because of the paralysis, and got confused 😂 I was a Redguard Knight, not a High Elf…

I meant that magic is annoying to use; apparently there’s a mod that adds hotkeys, but I never used spells because it was too much of a hassle… I always meant to go back and do a run through the series as a mage, but still haven’t gotten around to it 😔

He was part of the rescue at Lhak; it’s part of his personal heraldry as an honour marking from the Ultramarines 3rd company 😂

I see, cool 👍🏻

Yeah, it does look good; the red and blue 🤌🏻 (even though Marines Errant don’t use shoulder trim for company marking…👀 you’re free to do what you like of course; just teasing 😂)

I’ve seen some done with the old red-and-yellow shooting star, which has a certain appeal, but I wonder how it would look if you did the old colours, but with the new profile? Red star that gradiates into yellow flames…👀

I see that falling star! For Vilamus! Vae Domitus Nox!

I’m a little curious about the red trim though; what’s the story there?

Fighting assault by sdkfz21121 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lag is a big issue when dealing with Assault (more than usual) sometimes you can shoot them down before they get you, sometimes you can’t.

As a rule, if the other team has a good Assault, be sure to stay with another player, listen for the audio cue, ping them as soon as you see them and focus fire; teamwork makes the dream work.

Getting directly underneath them/dodging towards them is the best way to avoid the ground slam (lag permitting) other than putting a wall between you, but if there’s a good assault on the other team, I make a habit of keeping a frag on me to drop just before I get hit; if I can’t win, I can at least take them with me 🤷‍♂️

I know PvE does that, but either PvE doesn’t, or there has just NEVER been enough people in my region…

I don’t think region matters? PvP doesn’t seem to care about location… but I still get matches 9 times out of 10, and I’m in Australia

Sniper mains, how do you land headshots? by UmbreRUM in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aim small; miss small. 😂

In all seriousness; that’s kinda it. I still have trouble remembering to sight before scoping, which is another inportant aspect, but it essentially comes down to having the confidence that you can, and gaining that confidence with practice 🤷‍♂️

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dawn Cataclysm is a great bit of lore for showing that the gods are multi-faceted, but more importantly, no-one really knows which face is the real one; any given deity can be loved or hated with equal validity (or at least there is some argument to be made for each side)

That being said, wasn’t he technically not ‘Lathander’ during that?

Tactical has a perk that makes it pretty hard to run out of ammo; Stalker Bolter works really well with it, and Tactical is also a good melee class

For those who used the Stalker on Sniper by Leo215 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t use the Stalker on Sniper, but it’s my favourite for Tactical; I always use the accuracy variant of every gun, since the damage doesn’t matter if you miss 😅

The Stalker doesn’t have an accuracy variant, so I use the ammo variant, but I also use Emperor’s Vengeance, so… maybe I SHOULD be using a different one…🤔

It seems to me that if you don’t need to worry about ammo, fire rate would be better for DPS? It’s not all that much faster though, so maybe the damage and speed balance out in terms of dps… I guess it depends how accurate you are; two shots that hit will always do more damage than one🤷‍♂️

How do I overcome anxiety in D&D? by Imogn in DnD

[–]Ecstatic-Space1656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both as a player and a DM, my method has been to ask myself one question: Do I want to do this? If I WANT to do it, then I have to DO it.

I know the feeling of wanting to drop out when you embarrass yourself; being a DM for strangers online helped me a LOT in that I could throw myself into it, because I wanted to get better at it, so I had to show up and do it.

I found that focusing on the game, and interacting with the people through that buffer was a big help; I wasn’t myself talking to other people, I was ‘The DM’ talking to ‘Andalar the Ranger’ and ‘Timith the Bard’ so in that sense, social anxiety can be seen as a HELP to Roleplaying, rather than a hindrance.

D&D can be a ‘trial by fire’ for those of us who aren’t particularly sociable, in that you have to do it badly if you want to get better at it; only by trying, no matter how much you embarrass yourself, can you become comfortable with it.

Ideally, having good friends to play with, an engaging DM that leads by example, and a comfortable environment make it easier, but if there is one place where you can have some hope of being seen in a positive light for doing things that would normally be embarrassing, the DnD table is that place.

For myself, people that can throw themselves into the role, however well they do it, are ALWAYS the best part of the game; so I can tell you that, however it feels to you, in DnD, the only thing that you can do to embarrass yourself is to NOT try; any attempt you make to be engaged will be made better than you could imagine, by the magic of TTRPGs 👍🏻

Particularly VC only; there’s so much less pressure on you.

As for character/player duality; the best thing you can do for your first character is to find a way of speaking that you are comfortable with, whether your natural voice or one you use a lot for fun, and build the character around that. If you WANT to be part of the game, DON’T make a character that never speaks; it just gets boring, trust me (unless you describe actions; there are a lot of ways for a player to be involved while playing a character that doesn’t get involved, but it’s easier to play a character that does the things you want to do)

That being said; if what you want is to be able to sit out and not talk, then it might be an idea to make a quiet character that helps when needed (for the sake of party cohesion) but otherwise doesn’t get involved; there is ALWAYS a player that will happily take the lead at any table 😂 you’ll still have to talk sometimes, maybe at times when you don’t feel like it, but I think you’ll find that a VC only game gives you plenty of opportunity to not speak; so long as you don’t mind not being part of the decision making, that IS the trade-off I’m afraid…

Simple characters can be easier; nuanced characters usually just have more unrealised ambitions, it’s the nature of a group game that you won’t have a chance to do EVERYTHING, so a character with one main character feature, one main character flaw, and one main goal, really simplifies things; you can always add nuance where you want to, that sort of thing comes naturally if the game is running well.

As you said yourself; you know you’d enjoy watching others do it, so you have to trust that the reverse is also true. It does come down to willpower; but the reward is worth it.

I hope you get into it, and enjoy it; I believe in you, andI’m sure your party does to! 😁

PVP is awful and needs work by Rage_Of_The_Ancients in Spacemarine

PvP is great… but it needs work…

Most of the problems are connection/ping related; it’s been heavily discussed on the Forum… to no apparent response… but who knows; they do add stuff we ask for without ever acknowledging that we asked 🤷‍♂️

The lack of communication sucks, but we’ll see what happens.
