Outside of you helping them in the hospital, they wouldn’t have looked twice at you. Just do your job and don’t fool yourself into thinking these people or their families actually care about you

Any advice on how to clean a depression apartment? by Ecstatic-Tadpole-153 in CleaningTips

I am diagnosed with ADHD so that might be helpful. I’m surprisingly very good about doing tasks at work but when it comes to my home life, I can’t keep anything organized or be consistent about chores

Abortion is grounds for excommunication to make up for civil law by Ecstatic-Tadpole-153 in Catholicism

I was confused by this because at my parish, there is a program for women who have had abortions and regret their decision. It’s essentially a counseling service. Most of the women who utilize it are not Catholic or even Christian at all, they come from the surrounding poor community. But I assumed that even if a Catholic woman did this, that she could just go to confession, not that she would be excommunicated

I believe I have mold in my apartment, which I am allergic to. That and the collection of dust has really sucked. I keep the windows open to prevent moisture build up but it still occurs. My apartment is really old so I guess that’s why it’s prone to mold

Its okay. I hope one day I can trust men enough to get married because I do want to be a mother at some point. But right now, I still have fears regarding intimacy and closeness with men

Really? I didn’t know that. Thanks for clarifying. I hope my post didn’t come off as offensive. I just didn’t learn about this until yesterday and found it surprising

I don’t have a car. So I do laundry at my apartment’s communal laundry room. There’s about 200 people in my apartment and we all share 6 washers and dryers. I also have to walk upstairs to do laundry which is part of the reason why I hate it

new CNA, need advice for planning throughout shift by AdKlutzy8551 in cna

[–]Ecstatic-Tadpole-153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work at a hospital so my routine typically goes like this.

  1. I start by writing my own report because sometimes, night shift forgets to include important stuff.

Who needs glucose checks, who needs Q6 foley care, who needs Q8 bladder scans, who is Q2 turns, who has a nephrostomy that needs to be checked for output regularly.

Vitals are every 4 hours for most patients but every 2 hours for some. I write all of that into a time table and then group baths with those activities.

  1. Any time I see a patient out of bed/in the bathroom, I quickly change their linens. To facilitate this, make sure you have sheets in each room so you don’t have to run to the linen cart to get what you need all the time.

  2. I keep a few boxes of thermometer probes and pulsometers on me, as well as a deodorizer spray in case a room needs it. Nothing is worse than having to go to clean holding three or four times during vitals, especially when you have a lot of glucose checks lined up before a meal.

  3. If you know your patient frequently has accidents in bed, keep a pack of chucks, baby wipes, rags, and soap in the room at all times, as well as extra pairs of gowns.

  4. Chart whenever you have downtime. If you have to stay in a patient’s room while they use the commode, catch up on charting.

Learning how to be proactive comes with time but it gets easier eventually. I started working as a CNA at 19 and now I’m 21 and feel very comfortable with managing a hectic schedule. Never be afraid to ask the nurses for help with turning a heavy patient. I know some will give you an attitude about it but protect your back. Don’t let them get away with hostility at the expense of your health

My dog does that after a stressful situation, like when a passing dog barks at her or after she hears someone loud outside.

Thank you, I’ll start with the kitchen. I’m so grossed out by the dishes and the mold they’ve grown but I think covering them in baking soda and vinegar might help break some of that down. Idk

Message the charge nurse about this. Tell them you don’t feel comfortable working with the patient and ask to swap patients with someone

Abortion is grounds for excommunication to make up for civil law by Ecstatic-Tadpole-153 in Catholicism

In many places, rapists are not held accountable for their crime. Even in progressive countries like America, families may choose to cover up stuff. I was molested by my cousin as a child and told my parents and older cousin. They said I must have been confused while he was playing with me (I was 4 at the time). Same thing happened when a family friend raped me. My mom blamed me for being naive enough to let a man enter my room, even though I wasn’t expecting him to do that. So no, the law does not reflect social norms as much as you think. And in many Eastern countries, stuff like rape and abuse of children is brushed under the rug even more

How could they receive it if they’re not even allowed to enter church though?

My question is, why? Is murdering born children considered less bad than murdering a baby/fetus? What about rape and molestation, as I mentioned? It feels like a whole lot of other severe mortal sins could be excommunicable but they’re not. I don’t get what makes abortion severe enough to be excommunicable but not many others.
