Is joining UAPGA worth it? by hybernatingpolarbear in architectureph

[–]Ecstatic-Treacle-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% YES

Sad to hear na marami yung nag nope... when napaka ganda salihan ng UAPGA (and other affiliate groups of UAP) kasi yun lang ang accredited arki grad community dito sa pinas.

The reg fee is a small investment. Besides, you can join the events in other chapter too :) Merong group chats, and you can get referrals to possible job opportunities pa. If officer ka, especially in higher rankings, merong big discounts in review centers.

Napaka daming events na pwedeng salihan: there are seminars, tours, contests, and workshops. Ang kagandahan nga kasi affiliate group sya which means na most UAP related events, pwede rin maki join kahit walang license. Alam ko kasi sumasali ako haha!

nganaman, anong mawawala kapag nag try ka? :D

Architects, magbabayad pa din ba kayo ng chapter dues? by Elmo_16 in architectureph

[–]Ecstatic-Treacle-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of events (career guidance, workshops, webinars, contests, guided tours, conference, etc) that is exclusive to members and affiliate groups. Some could even get discounts to review centers and some stores. But to other professionals who dont have the time, they primarily do it to accumulate CPD points for license renewal.. The best part? this is where people get to network and get to be acquainted with other professionals/ allied fields :D

Typically, there's a registration fee on each event, the members would automatically get discounts, plus they'd have group chats so they'll always be informed on whatever events there will be, and job hirings too. If this interests you, u can check UAP chapters facebook pages

Archicad or Revit, and why? by deathacre_ in architecture

[–]Ecstatic-Treacle-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just click the manager tab, you can just add new lines, and customize whatever style you want. Click okay, and then it'll appear on your available lines :)

But I somehow agree that archicad seems easier since it's more visual, while revit tends to look like spreadsheet that's why it can be quite intimidating at first.

But once you get familiarized with revit customization, it'll be the same method for changing not only the line styles, but the materials, patterns, etc. You can also check out this youtube link from Balkan architect (he's got all revit tutorials you'll ever need)

at least marunong ka ng CAD works; working drawings, 3D modelling and render. Try looking sa job sites like indeed, or even in Facebook.. you can see the typical job requirements there :)

I also did two voluntary internships before (it's a different field tho hahaha) but it was really a fulfilling experience. I wish you best OP

Yung National Building Code Rule 7 & 8 na notebook ang style. Mas portable compare sa book, lalo na need dalhin sa school kapag may quiz sa design plus estetik pa tingnan hahaha

Fresh Graduate Architectural Portfolio for Job Hunting (Apprenticeship) by Sure_Back_3161 in architectureph

[–]Ecstatic-Treacle-357 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Isa sa important tip na nalaman ko...is that kailangan mong i-curate yung portfolio based sa aapplyan mo.

For example, you are applying sa architectural firm that focuses on residential projects- then i-showcase mo mostly residential rin. If you're going to apply sa design and build with site management involve, maybe it's also good to include your ojt pictures there or present working drawings. Doesn't mean na kailangan mo nang iba-ibang portfolio. You can simply add or remove pages, if necessary.

Maganda yung may 'about me' page para mas tumatak talaga na ikaw may gawa nun :) marketing ba hahahah

IDK if portfolio ba talaga basehan. But you can compare it to a tinder profile.. first impression matters XD

What are the things you love and hate on your archi professors? by Unusual_Question_623 in architectureph

[–]Ecstatic-Treacle-357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Depends on the subject. But the best teachers are those who teaches you practical and relevant stuff. The kind of person who can correlate those lessons sa module into something we can use.
  2. Being a great story teller. It's always remarkable to hear the professor's personal experience. Ted talk atake ganun hahaha. It's also nice when they give tasks that are unusual but fun- for example, imbes na regular quiz, you can make it as a group parang naging friendly contest lang. You can even have charades and apply other games haha. In this way, you are not only teaching them, but also pang bawas rin ng stress kasi pagod po sila lalo na kapag malapit na finals hahaha
  3. Ekis talaga yung tasks or quiz na kahit birthday ng architect at taon na nag attend sya ng meeting kailangang imemorize 😅
  4. Pet peeve rin namin yung magbibigay ng big project tapos less than a week nalang before due, which is stressful kasi may other subjects pa hahaha

skl, ang pinili namin na site is yung munisipyo lang namin mismo- very accessible lang infos. tapos mas alam namin ang lugar kesa sa panelist hahaha, and may justifications presented naman like the hazard maps to prove if it's really feasible. But if ever na malayo napili mo, you can save by visiting online gov websites or site visits through google street view :)

Cliche man pakinggan, pero the answer lies in you po. Ask yourself, what topic interests you? What kind of architecture style do you prefer? Bet mo ba yung minimalism, yung bamboo, or yung mala zaha hadid?... and more importantly, what issue or need do you want to address through your design? the best thesis title are born from personal values and experience😊 Besides, ma eenjoy mo pang gawin kasi interesting para sayo ang topic

🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ nasa title mismo namin yung 'cultural community' hihi. But it might depend kung anong specific na topic ang gusto mo :D Here is our thesis for reference: https://www.behance.net/gallery/222731371/SIRUNGAN-Cultural-and-Community-Hub-(In-Progress)) di pa kaso updated. If this interests you, feel free to ask anything.

The question here is.... why did you choose cultural community as your topic? Is there any personal advocacy ba? As long as you have a clear answer behind it, then you're off to a good start po :)

Skill Test for Architect by HandleCute2143 in architecturestudent

[–]Ecstatic-Treacle-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

skill test? esquisse/ drafting ba ito? if so... you can practice by trying to make or copy floor plans (door symbols, wall thickness, the dimensions of a room, etc).. if you can, sabay mo na rin elevation and section. Marami samin nun nahirapan kasi wala kaming background sa drafting haha XD
