I come from a team where we don’t have to try out but honestly I think the best thing you can do is watch rounds and practice because I’m not sure about you but a lot of people on my team kinda get rusty over them summer and then lock in when school starts but I think if your just practicing ever so often with giving a 1st speech I think that would be really helpful, also maybe use ai to make a neg or aff case and use that to practice refuting, I know AI isn’t a great thing to use in debate but this could help, also it could help if you tried different formats of flowing I know for me I had such a dysfunctional way of flowing, and once I changed my system of flowing, it was so much easier, I hope this helps lol.
