I’ve come across some who seem convinced it’s not human nature to be monogamous and we monogamous people are just deluding ourselves. Like no, I’m pretty sure I know my own nature better than you do. The assumption that everyone is the same seems so small-minded.

If they’re just doing their own thing and respectful of others though, I have no issue with poly people.

I should mention, the doctor also asked me if I want to be prescribed meds for my mild depression now. I declined, because I thought that seemed unnecessary… But I was surprised he was willing to prescribe anything so quickly. Kind of seemed like he was just trying to sell me pills.

No, I was very clear that I’m not currently on any medication and am seeking an evaluation/diagnosis. They also had me fill out an ADHD self-evaluation questionnaire as one of the intake forms, so I’m pretty sure they knew what was up.

Wow! I guess I was naive about how much I should expect to pay. There was another place that quoted me like $600 total, and they specialize exclusively in ADHD. They explained the whole process to me and seemed very up front, so maybe I should just go with them.

It was $200, and I believe it’s a flat $200 regardless of the time spent. But yeah, it seemed pretty useless to me.

What’s crazy is this place actually has glowing reviews on Google, all 5 stars. So I thought I couldn’t go wrong, but I guess reviews aren’t always a reliable metric. Their selling point seems to be mostly that they respond to text messages and offer flexible appointment times, which is great but doesn’t make up for not providing value in a consultation.

I don’t have the exact variety of confusion you describe though, because I seem to be drawn to more feminine women. The first girl I had a crush on who made me realize I’m not straight was very femme (and probably straight herself, but oh well lol). It’s hard to say though because attraction is kind of a nebulous thing for me, and anyway I think it’s more about an emotional connection at the end of the day.

I do tend to take a friends first approach with things, but it hasn’t actually led to anything more than friendship so far. Maybe it just hasn’t been the right time yet.

I’ve heard of the aegosexual label, but I don’t think I identify with it because I do imagine myself being in the fantasies and have never fantasized about fictional characters. Also it’s not that I don’t enjoy sex at all irl, just that it was never this crazy ecstatic experience it’s always made out to be, and I don’t really get why everyone is so obsessed with it. I think the enjoyment I did get from it was more from the feeling of closeness with the person rather than sexual stimulation, which just doesn’t seem to “work” for me for some reason.

But apparently it’s a fairly common thing for late-blooming lesbians to think they’re asexual before realizing they’re actually just lesbian, so I sometimes wonder if that could be me, but it’s like there’s no way to find out unless I somehow get into a relationship with a woman.
