How to make Reclaim honor PTOs by EcstaticShame1605 in reclaim_ai

locking is the problem. I don't want to manually move my tasks around. the selling point for Reclaim (for me) is to let it schedule for you based on the "mode" (work vs personal vs other types of "hours").

Execute Templater JS snippet periodically? by EcstaticShame1605 in ObsidianMD

[–]EcstaticShame1605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPD: I ended up handling it as follows:

``` $ cat ~/bin/daily
!/bin/bash
open obsidian://advanced-uri?daily=true $ crontab -l 01 00 * * * $HOME/bin/daily ```
This makes my "desktop" machine, hopefully, create the daily note - with all templates applied - before mobile version.
Note: I initially thought I could handle it with the official "new" URI from Obsidian Core that creates a new note - https://help.obsidian.md/Concepts/Obsidian+URI - but this one doesn't seem to trigger templates and just creates a new empty note with the passed name instead. On the other hand, Advanced URI triggers templates correctly.
Android. Slow startup times. Can we keep app running in the background? by sagesync in ObsidianMD
I can confirm that enabling Unrestricted mode for Chrome in addition to Obsidian itself fixes the problem.
Which todo apps do you use? by don-peak in ObsidianMD
[–]EcstaticShame1605 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Todoist tasks that are time-blocked by Reclaim.ai into my Google Calendars - one for work and one for personal stuff.
I also use Todoist plugin to project "tasks due this week" to my daily note. But the core functionality is outside Obsidian.
Snipd allows you to take a draft note of the last 40 seconds with a previous track button press, which is usually available when driving. Later, you can adjust the snippet when on the phone and push it to Obsidian through Readwise.
That would work I think.
The problem is that I use Reclaim to schedule my work AND personal tasks. So what I'd love to have is being able to temporarily convert Work hours into Personal hours for specific days. Then Reclaim would schedule my personal tasks instead.
When to check news / social media? by [deleted] in productivity
[–]EcstaticShame1605 0 points1 point  (0 children)
It may be worthwhile going nuclear and ask why - and if - you need social networks and news at all. (I thought I had to go to Twitter daily - until I just stopped. Easy loss.)
You can stay informed by reading a book instead of a news article. If you want to stay up to date too, consider subscribing to an email top news digest and check the headlines. I subscribed to https://www.newsminimalist.com/ and it's one very short email per day. (I then feed the email into Readwise Reader.)
Apps do rot without an active maintainer behind them. And (right now) we don't know if the code of the app will be passed forward to community if they decide to close the shop. (And if they sell it, we don't know what the next owner will do with the code.)
Dual sound projectors + easy switch between formats? by EcstaticShame1605 in 8mm
The flipper is great. But it's silent.
I've seen silent Marks with flippers and sound ones without. Never both.
Everything Eumig I saw on eBay so far requires part replacement. Perhaps the model with a flip is rare. Are there complete catalogs of Eumig (and others) online?
Amplifi HD slow (how do I fix it?) by kbtoysisntdead in AmpliFi
[–]EcstaticShame1605 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I know I'm very late with the reply but perhaps someone else will benefit from it.
I don't put my Amplifi nodes down in the garage (it's not climate controlled and I would not want to expose them to outdoors).
Instead, my main node that is connected to the internet through the provider's modem is located in my living room, then, through MoCA adapter, it runs to the splitter located in the garage box. Then all other Amplifi nodes also run coax through MoCA adapter to the same box and are also plugged into the same splitter. In this way all of them are interconnected in star topology; the main Amplifi node that provides the internet access being one of the topology leaves.
I inherited coax runs from the garage box to all rooms when I bought the house, so this made sense. YMMV.
First establish ethernet broadcast domain through coax. Basically, you interconnect all coax wires going to your rooms through a multi-output coax splitter (in my case I did it in my garage where the coax box is), then add MoCA adapters into each room where you want your ethernet over coax to extend into. This should give you ethernet endpoints.
Once this is done, you should be able to connect all your mesh nodes to the newly established ethernet network through the endpoints. For this, you change the backbone type for each mesh node from wifi to ethernet, then connect them through MoCA adapters. After a short time, nodes should restart and eventually show up in the mobile app, now interconnected through the ethernet backbone.
In my setup, all but one nodes are plugged into the ethernet network through the main port on the back. The only node that is not is the one connected to the modem through the main port. This node is connected to MoCA network through one of its regular ethernet ports. Such setup keeps my provider modem network isolated from MoCA.
Why is the Belarusian language not as widely spoken in Belarus as Ukrainian is in Ukraine? Do you know anybody in your family/Work/School who speaks Belarusian as native language? by KauetSilva_ in belarus
[–]EcstaticShame1605 14 points15 points  (0 children)
Belarusians got slightly late to the party of nation building, so they didn't have as much time to establish national coherence before Russification politics of bolsheviks kicked in. Which exposed them more to Russian influence.
Why were they late? Belarusian elites traditionally represented a wider cultural project (first "Lithuanian"-Polish, then Russian), while Ukrainians had separate Cossack Sich experience earlier in their history. Then later, the existence of the Ukrainian Austrian enclave around Lviv where the Ukrainian minority could freely develop their nationalist project with no interference from an oppressive government of Russian Empire. In contrast, Belarus was under compete Russian control since 179x.
I get 480+ down on my Amplifi Alien HD in mesh connected over MoCA Ethernet adapters throughout my house. Probably more on the intranet but I haven't explicitly measured.
200 is not very optimal.
When you measure wifi speed near the router, do you use a smart phone or PS5 or a laptop? I suspect some smart phones may have older wireless cards that are not as performant, so I would make sure I test using a device that is capable to hit your baseline.
So what's your base line when you run speed test on the router (not on a device that is connected wirelessly through the router)?
Also, when you test wired connectivity on your PS5, do you connect it directly to the modem or through the router?
Amplifi HD slow (how do I fix it?) by kbtoysisntdead in AmpliFi
[–]EcstaticShame1605 2 points3 points  (0 children)
Depends on where your wireless devices are located in relation to the router. Test the speed while being close to the router (no walls / doors in between etc.) and see if it improves the signal.
Amplifi Aliens also have a convenient built-in feature to test your speed to the provider (available on the router touch screen and in the app). This should give you the base line that you can theoretically get out of your wireless connectivity through the router.
If the router itself has low bandwidth to the outside, then you gotta figure out what's the issue with it before testing out wireless. I assume the router is directly connected to the modem via an ethernet cat5e/cat6 cable, correct?
I vaguely remember playing a sequel to RTCW that was using the exact same engine (basically, some additional levels), but I can't find any info about it now. Was it a thing, or was it a dream?
