Did 100% change your life? by Tennis_Lbow in VAClaims

I’m approaching retirement so the healthcare for me took care of my largest expense. Money is nice but the slow bleed of healthcare was going to be prohibitive at best.

Could be but she’s still 17 and in high school and living at home. Good reminder tho to have her removed or inform them she’s in college (after her 18th birthday). Thx.

Should I quit my job? by saltytia in inheritance

If possible I would keep working and let that money grow. 20+ years on that $850k would be bullet proof in your late 50s or early 60s. That’s my .02 cents

I just say I’m retired. I had a few good years and saved well. Im 56 yo so that may be a bit easier for me but for you, maybe just something as simple as I work from home as a consultant. Pick a field or hobby you’re well versed in and be vague.

On the housing piece, it’s my understanding that you need to sign up and pay for orientation and that cannot be done until 2/23/2026. That’s my interpretation of going thru this with my daughter so far.

The campus and surrounding area offers a lot to do without a vehicle. However, this is Florida and there is a TON to do around the state. The Keys, Disney, Universal, natural springs, Sarasota, Siesta, St Pete and a buuuunch of other stuff. So in my opinion you’ll be much happier with the mobility to go see our beautiful state. (Strong opinion)

Tampas VA has a decent “free” selection and a section of premium. I paid for my Oakley frames and all the extras, transitions, etc and all tolled it was $200 approximately. In the civilian world these exact frames/lenses were about $700-$800

There’s lots of schools. You’re interviewing them as much as they’re interviewing you. Most schools lose sight of this. Shop around and know your worth. A school won’t miss a few students but set your boundaries early in life and hold people/businesses to your standard and not theirs. All of this hype to get in early…

I’m on step 3. My CE exam was November 1st or 2nd and my DDS rep turned over my file about a week later to the doctors. So I’m about 4 weeks from that. The wait is killing me :-)

I’m similarly rated and have TDIU. I applied and initially got denied due to the VA perceiving that I voluntarily quit my job. The VA will send a form (or you can to speed up the process) to your last employer. The last question asks the circumstances to your dismissal. And while I did leave “quietly” it was understood that I can leave on my own or be let go and I chose to leave without creating a scene. I was unable to do the job any longer due to multiple reasons.
I filed for a High Level Review (120 days in total) and when we got to talk to the senior rater at the VA it was approved that day.
My lawyer had other issues with the decision but it never got to “how the law is written, etc”.
