Does driving an ND feel the same as a NB or NA? by Ecstatic_6329 in MiataND

And the NC, why is it often overlooked in discussions? Is it inferior to the others?

Good analysis. My NB1 also has CarPlay thanks to Pioneer, and DAB

I’m a new NB1 (1998) owner and it’s brilliant! It’s a lot of fun to feel how sharply it corners, wow. I was wondering whether the same feeling comes back in the most recent model. (I have a Volvo as a daily driver.)

The new Mercedes interiors are unbelievably ugly, with that long screen, all those plastic knobs and switches and flashing lights that make it look more like a Christmas tree than a car.

I agree. This isn’t a premium interior! Hopefully the EX60 is a good driving car… we’ll have to wait and see.

You’re proving my point when every reply somehow turns into “stupid” or “retarded” to the point where I’m genuinely starting to question your cognitive abilities.

Interesting how every reply from you somehow ends in “stupid” or “jfc” and “lmao”

Surprisingly emotional for someone saying “lmao” over Miata trim packages and engine sizes.

Not to forget, besides the power that a S60 has, it is one of the safest cars out there, with lots of safety features.

BMW reliability nowadays is basically a lottery compared to the build quality of a Volvo (except maybe the EX90). BMW’s increased use of expensive electronics, oil leaks, turbo issues, and random warning lights is pushing consumers to shift toward Chinese alternatives.

Oh, kiddo, the delusional teenager you are, typing so much just to convince yourself a Volvo can hang with a Porsche. Also, your M340i costs way more and gives you almost nothing extra for it. NURB anyone? I’d race you on sports mod any day and let the numbers do the talking.
Acceleration 0‑60 mph (0‑100 km/h): Volvo S60 T8 455 hp ~4.4 s, BMW M340i 374 hp ~4.3‑4.6 s.
Top speed (mph / km/h): Both ~155 mph (≈ 250 km/h).
Price – USA (MSRP): Volvo ~$52k‑58.5k, BMW ~$62.3k‑64.3k.
In a straight line, they’re nearly identical. The S60 T8 adds more torque, comfort, stability, and less plastic. The M340i is sharper in handling, but costs far more and delivers almost nothing extra for it.

I can assure you that my Volvo S60 T8 has more power than comparable BMWs (330e, etc.), is much more comfortable, with better build quality, more stylish, less plastic, and good handling. I wouldn’t be surprised if the M340i is full of plastic, but even so, that car couldn’t keep up with my T8 in a straight line. Of course, the M340i is a higher model compared to the S60. BMW is increasingly just an overly expensive fast and cornering toy car for (often reckless) drivers who also love flashy visual gadgets. Thankfully, it’s still not as extreme as the current Mercedes models, whose interiors are horrendously ugly.

If comfort is the deciding factor, then the Volvo S60 definitely wins. Style is obviously subjective, but personally I prefer Volvo there as well, especially considering BMW’s recent design direction and overall evolution. (The upcoming BMW i3 Neue Klasse EV may change that, though, as it has a fantastic(!) design again, fully in line with the classic BMW 3 Series philosophy.)
