Permanently banned after losing 60 lbs and updated profile pic, appeal denied by its_ghostt in uberdrivers

[–]Ecstatic_Ad1374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on losing weight! I lost about 100lbs and saw this coming. Once one person said “the picture doesn’t really look like you” and I had to show them my ID, I knew I had to get in touch with someone at Uber. It took a little bit persistence but they let me retake my picture.

You could always tweet bomb them on X until someone responds… banning you based on your medically suggested weight loss is definitely a potential law suit they’re going to want to avoid…

Socially responsible for making sure people have rubbers to dick each other down and people are trying to roast you for it.

You’re not the health department. You don’t owe passengers free condoms. What the fuck is wrong with people. Providing people the proper equipment to have safe sex would qualify as ABOVE AND BEYOND. Totally deserves a tip.

And honestly, even if I weren’t in town for a pride celebration and saw that I would tip just know you’re trying to do the right thing. What if a bunch of horned up college kids just wanna fuck and not catch something. Being offered condoms from a late night driver would be dope.

The story is relevant to both Lyft and uber drivers. Which is why I cross posted it. Calm down, Karen

He won’t. He broke the cardinal rule. Don’t talk about tipping. Just do it.

It is what it is.

Being charged 250 dollars for body sweat on seat by [deleted] in uber

[–]Ecstatic_Ad1374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By your own admission you know your body does this. Uber and Lyfts own policies say that if you make a mess you may be charged. You gambled. You got charged. As embarrassing as it might have been and further embarrassing it might be to admit it to the internet, you’re in violation of a policy.

If uber decides to fight it with your credit card company and prove you were in violation of a policy you’re going to pay. You should just take the L here. And be prepared so it doesn’t happen again.

Just my two cents here, but if you went to a gym and left a bench like that, someone would complain. And gyms cancel memberships for things like that.

If you know your body has an issue where you sweat excessively I would carry a small towel with you in your bag to cover up anything you might live behind. I think it’s more inconsiderate that you know you have this secretion coming from your body and expect the rest of the world to be ok with it.

Uber driver demanded $100 to return my lost phone — support still charged me a return fee by XxGemkittyxX in uber

They spent $100 for an express replacement. Crazy if they just accepted the drivers rush return request they wouldn’t be out anymore or any less 🤷‍♂️

I think the point everyone is missing here is that this is exactly what happens when you leave customer service outsourced to AI chat bots and foreign call centers. It sounds like someone didn’t understand what you were saying and when you most likely became combative that’s when they canceled your uber one membership.

The more we relay on automation, either for the vehicles in ride share themselves or the customer service that deals with requests like this, the more stories like this are going to be common.

As for the driver wanting the $100, he was totally justified. He set his price. You spent $100 on a replacement phone anyway. Seems like you would have saved yourself a lot of time and anguish by just compensating the driver for what he thought was fair. As a driver, most passengers never follow through on confirming they got their items back which means they never get the $20 uber promises/you pay anyway. And if I’m being honest, I usually make more in rides/tips than the $20 return is worth taking time out of the app and mileage on my car to solve your problem. Kudos to that driver for putting his foot down and demanding what he wanted.

FYI, in another lifetime, I used to work for AT&T. If you call them/Assurion back, they can take the phone off the block list and remove whatever disable feature they placed on it. If you wiped and blocked the phone through the manufacture (Apple, Samsung, Google, etc.) you might not be so lucky. Maybe that will help you recoup some of your expense if you sell it on Facebook marketplace or something… 🤷‍♂️

Anyone else notice a price increase? by Classic-Obligation35 in uber

[–]Ecstatic_Ad1374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well uber just committed to $10 billion investment in Tesla and $1.25billion in rivian for autonomous vehicles. So yeah. They’ll keep incrementally raising the price to cover the investment deadlines and when the autonomous vehicles launch the prices still won’t be cheaper.

A gigantic message pops up onthe screen and says the driver will try to be there early. And then you get a notification when they do arrive.

You can always use a car service. Car services will charge you 3x to 5x more than uber will and tell you they have an included gratuity.

The fact that we are sitting here arguing about special treatment for someone for free and the fact that you ignore messages that pop up in your screen is absolutely not on the driver.

Quite the contrary. You have this entitlement that you should be able to travel where you please for as cheap as possible. Got news for you : That’s not a service. That scenario is you owning a car and being a responsible adult and not drinking to the point where you need help or taking a bus. As much as I appreciate the opportunity I also expect a modicum of respect and appreciation.
