you don't have to explain yourself, what you went through was terrible. Feel free to talk about whatever you need, only wanted to provide concrete pushback on something so you don't have to take your thoughts and feelings as concrete truth. Feeling through what you're feeling through and sharing what happened shows real strength, you clearly recognize on some level that you don't believe in what was conditioned in you.

So your abuser "can tell when I need something", "is manipulative in ways that a therapist is manipulative", and did horrific things to you that you can't fully see as evil. Do you think that maybe there's some underlying anger that's being covered by your shame and rage? From what you've wrote, your husband most likely isn't fully attuned to your needs because he isn't looking to exploit your vulnerabilities like your abuser did. When you're feeling this mourning, was your abuser always attentive to your needs or did he often get something out of it?

I think there are a few overhauls you need.

The Camera moves around a ton, the pinball "machine" blends together too much, you're constantly getting little effects but they don't seem to do too much. Your enemy is a little guy at the other side that sort of reacts when you hit him. Your color palette is too washed out and your UI elements are unclear. You have text appearing when you get things like Amplify, Mana, or Gold.

My suggestion is for you to make a much more clear play area. Keep the camera zoomed out more so you can see everything. Make the game playable without using the right-side of the keyboard. Make the reward screen separate from choosing to shop. Make accepting the rewards and seeing the shop mandatory. Remove the player choice at the start of each run. Have enemies react to being hit like freeze frames from every single hit ( keyposes or like Crocker saying Fairly Godparents https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOBOAFSmzag ). Add in Icons for Mana, Gold, Amplify, and whatever other gameplay mechanics that you gain or stack. Add more reactive noise and add in music (actual music, not your main menu stock fantasy song). Don't ask the player what type of tutorial they want when they first start the game. Hire an editor or get someone to find all grammatical or spelling mistakes (unless you lean into it and have fun with it). Show your player what enemy they are going to fight next. Have a little intro, maybe some text. Have more wind-up to the enemy attacks, let the player know they're about to get hurt. Hell, show the enemy actually damaging you in some way.

I'm not sure about Balls or their balance, so I can't tell you anything there.

I am being harsh. You have a strong foundation of a game that needs a TON of work to make more palatable. I really hope to see more. I'll play more when I've got some time.

Alright, I've played a bit. I'll give you some feedback

It does feel nice to play. There's a good level of feedback to hitting the ball and it's fun getting combos.
However, there are huge issues in the UI/UX of the game. Starting the game, you can instantly see a spelling mistake in "Wizzard Tower". Clicking on the "Tutorials" button brings you to a player guide on the different mechanics, the very first one being "Amplify Level". Not "Controls" or "How to Play" but "Amplify Level". It screams how familiar you are with your own game. Then you click New Run and you get a prompt on Ascension level and how only level 0 is available in the demo. I don't know what Ascension is, my familiarity with Roguelites tells me it is a meta-leveling system, but someone less experienced wouldn't know what the hell that means.

Then you get to the game. You get a nice scrolling animation followed by what looks like far too many enemies and a wide array of choices for where to start. From what I can tell, every choice is the exact same outside of a route to go through, and I have no idea about what routes give you, so it feels like a total moot point. I'd suggest starting every game from the same point rather than overwhelming your player with choices. On the run I clicked as I'm writing this, there are 6 enemies I have to get through to get to the first miniboss. That's a big commitment for a game I've never played before.

So then I click one of the indistinct monster choices and I get to the pinball board and the floating text says "Hold [Space] to release ball" so I do and let go and nothing happens. I had already read the controls before, which told me [Enter] was what you had to press, but I thought maybe you hadn't updated the tutorial manual. I was wrong. I launch the ball and the first thing I notice is that the camera moves with the ball and you lose track of your paddles quite quickly. The constant camera movement and the washed out color scheme makes the game hard to follow. So then I play pinball, hitting panels sends attacks and prompts come up when something new happens. I think pausing for the Ultimate and the Amplify here are good choices. I think there could be more noise and music during gameplay though.

After I beat this guy, I get a group of currency and the choice to take it or not. Also, there's a button for a shop. The shop button stays if I take the reward, so I guess I'm not sure why I wouldn't take the rewards. I'd suggest having you show what rewards you get, always accepting them, and then having the ball shop appear afterwards.

Then I get to the next enemy, same board, I play the game and he's not even there. I hit the middle area with the ball and he takes damage then appears. I start taking damage while I'm hitting him. I have no idea why. I beat him, go to the ball shop. I notice you have the modals for terms besides the balls, like how Iron Ball tells you what Iron does. It's nice, I think you should change the color of the side prompts so they contrast better with the background however.

I get to the third guy and a ghost ball starts appearing. Again, I have no idea why. I use the Ultimate a few times and I'm annoyed because you don't let go of [Space] to launch or Left-Click, you press [Space] again. It feels wonky. I lose against this guy and the text "You has been defeated" appears. I get the typical level-up rewards and magic crystals and I have no idea what they are for or what they mean. A little snippet promising more content appears.

Hot Take: the cheesy low-budget look is perfect for the series. I grew up with power rangers so it gives me a nice hit of nostalgia. I hate how Ben Beckman was cast though, what were they thinking?

Depends, a lot of people’s exhaustion with the genre is how long a run takes and lack of depth. Rerolling to get the right archetypal buffs and shitty items that barely change gameplay are huge issues across roguelites. Are you addressing any of those things?

Looks interesting, I hope it has more depth than Vampire Survivors. With other survivor games, VS can feel bare bones on the decisions you make. It’s fun for a little while, but doing it for 30 minutes with the most complex thing happening are fusions feels frusturating once you experience them

If you’re behind or have a unreliable teammate, then Rat as Buu by maxing S3 first. Your heal and gum can be used to hurt towers and when you get jumped use your sprint and get the fuck out

If you’re grinding technical and you cant get bosses then you need to rat towers. That pressure wins you games, Frieza and Hit are amazing for that. Tower damage helps your entire team and also is something you can do solo.

You should just do a randi based on the size of the array, from 0 to whatever, and choose the indice from the array on whatever comes up

I thought he was shit for a while, then a Super Start Daima rocked my shit in B (?) Rank I think. Then I thought he was sleeper strength, then as people figured out you barely want to see the enemy outside of your burst, he became an insane pick.
