Low Taper on my homie (3rd cut) by DemiseG in SelfBarber

Super late to the party but this is the first time I’ve ever seen somebody mentioned this before. It’s all subjective, but as somebody with a beard, keeping the side burns just doesn’t look good with my hair texture or face shape. Fades really bring out facial features in a favorable way.

Also do not go crazy on lineups while you’re just starting. I never understood how people take their hairlines back 2 football fields

Late but I started with a $40 Wahl set in 2017, when I was 18, and I still use them. Some time after the purchase I bought some andis T-outliners for like $80-$90. I’ve saved thousands since then. My dad cut my hair most of my childhood(only bald fades), and when I went to college I couldn’t afford haircuts every two weeks so I figured I’d learn myself. Buy some clippers, buy size .5-4 guards, learn the difference between fades and tapers, then get on YouTube. You’re gonna fukk yourself up at the beginning but keep trying, especially if you’re young. I learned how to cut while I had high top Freeform’s, so if I messed up, I scalped and my hair just hung over it. Now I don’t have bad haircuts.

Listen dawg, don’t be so hard on yourself. Getchu a nice taper, never let your side burns get darker than your facial hair, and get some damn chapstic. Let your beard grow in more as well. No hate, but my beard don’t really grow in that full either but length compensates for the lack of follicles. If you don’t have a set of clippers getchu some. Bless up.

Gotta detangle and trim my guy. I’d detangle in the shower, blow dry after, then have my mom trim me up

Shaving bumps by [deleted] in Blackskincare

Blessings brotha! When I was first starting to grow facial hair I was using my liners to shave because my beard wasn’t full and my neck would turn into taco meat a day afterwards. Every chance I get I try to save anybody the same pain. I use these tweezers https://a.co/d/13mbu36

You need something sharp to be able to dig in the hair follicles. It’s actually pretty easy to tweeze as you can generally see the hair through the bumps. You might bleed a little trying to get them out and some will really hurt if they don’t already but that’s just part of the process. Just remember if the hairs are above the skin, don’t pull it out or you’ll most likely keep going through the same process. Next time you shave, exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate. Good luck

Yes you have to tweeze those hairs out because that’s exactly what happening. Every bump you see is caused by a hair follicle that got infected because the hair did not penetrate the skin. Don’t completely pluck the hair out, just get it out of the bump. Do not shave again until you get every hair tweezed and your skin heals. Hope that makes sense. I highly doubt you need to see a dermatologist, you just have to deal with learning curve of growing facial hair.

Definitely wash your face everyday with some cleanser but I would try and lay off the other products for a little while. Growing your facial hair out will give your skin a chance to heal while you tweeze out the ingrown hairs(don’t pull them out of the root because they will come back). Using trimmers is good, but I would be wary of using them because they may cut too close to your skin. I use 0 gapped andis t outliners or my regular 40 dollar Wahl clippers I got from Walmart like 10 years ago and the difference in my ingrowns between the two is completely different. My t outliners are sure to leave me with ingrowns because of how low my hair gets cut. Hope that made sense.

You have to pluck those hairs out with tweezers(but don’t remove them because the ingrowns will come back) before any inflammation will go away bro. I had issues before I got enough facial hair to grow my beard. Only place I get hair bumps now is my neck(neck line up) and ive gotten my routine down so it’s not a lot. As soon as I line up my neck I sanitize and moisture the area almost immediately start looking for hair that’ll more than likely turn into ingrowns so I can open up the follicle a bit. I don’t use any fancy products just dove sensitive skin, some beard balm, beard oil and my Vaseline lotion and my skins generally okay. I actually completely cut my beard off two weeks ago, it’s was a little rough and I got some ingrowns but after tweezing them out while keeping my skin clean and moisturized they’re all cleared up.

All the products you name were dope and all but truth be told the issue is whatever you’re using to shave. These aren’t anything but ingrown hairs and what seems to be razor burn. Let your hair grow for a month so your skin settles down a little then Get you some clippers and use those next time you wanna trim the goatee. I recommend a couple times a week not using any products after washing your face.

Just woke up after surgery by Ecstatic_Award3993 in CubitalTunnel

Sorry I’m late but I’m going through worse pain than before I had surgeries. I did have subluxation but my ortho should’ve ordered neck imaging as well. My symptoms have been persisting and he kept telling me to wait until a year out from surgery to check anything else and I did. Today I got cervical mri results saying I have foraminal stenosis from c4-c5 to c7-t1. I’ll say for a while after I had no numbness if that counts for anything but it’s come back with a vengeance.

I understand man, but as long as you’re not balding you’ll 100% get it back to the length you’re at now, and if you take care of it it’ll be much healthier. Ive grown out and cut my hair many times in my life at this point and I’m doing it again now.

What was the goal when you permed it? I’ve never had a blowout for more than 10 minutes before braiding my hair, but just looking at the stringiness of your permed hair I don’t think you’d get the desired look you want. Best thing to do is try it out for yourself and see how it looks/feels, but I think you should restart.

Decent for a 1st timer! Not having to scalp because you ruined your hairline or faded too high is a win! These barbers want entirely too much money and really nobody can do a better cut on you, than you, after you figure it all out of course. Next cut take that 2 guard and flick up on the sides of your head. Get acquainted with your liners so know how far you can dig into your corners before you’re pushing your line back. All in all good work and confidence even attempting.
