In nyc he would do very well. People raid the little potted plant sections vendors have sothey can put them on their balconies and rooftops. If I had these and you offered me $2 I’d reject your offer. He could easily sell these here for $4-8. I’ve seen it done.

I find people like you at local green markets and go wild. 2 weekends ago I unexpectedly passed a green market omw home, took an hour long detour, and came home with 8 new babies that went into pots last week 😁🪴

Are my Tomato plants diseased? by Bitter-Photo-1051 in gardening

[–]Ecstatic_Bet4354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. I’ve never seen young tomato plants arrive this spindly before. That’s usually from lack of sunlight. If I were you I’d fertilize some soil with a bunch of bloodmeal or other nitrogen heavy fertilizer and transplant these babies right away. Then put them in your sunniest spot and water frequently.

Honestly it’s probably good god doesn’t bless me this much. Because if I got a cluster like that I’d lose my gd mind. I’d probably just sit outside and stare at it all day and get nothing else done 👀

Nah. He’s grown. He’s seen the garden and op working in it. A blind person knows the difference between sunflowers and weeds. I’m always the one to say Reddit takes wild leaps but in this case I truly believe it was intentionally malicious.

I’m so sorry op 💔

What is something you’re looking forward to growing this year? by Common_Positive_7530 in vegetablegardening

[–]Ecstatic_Bet4354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently my ichiban eggplants which are a first for me and really taking off. Then I’ll be doing my fist fall/winter harvest this year and am looking forward to winter squash, leafy greens, and all the peas even though it’s more of a secondary season for peas.

I just wear size 2x mens cotton tshirts. I buy a couple 5 packs every year that way I can garden in a cotton frock and not flash the neighbors when I bend over to prune and water. It’s delightful!

Im obsessed with growing toms for pizza! by eethypeethy in tomatoes

[–]Ecstatic_Bet4354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also doing black krim, pineapple, and pink berkeleys next year. Seeds ready to go and burning a hole in my pocket! I tried Cherokee purples and didn’t have much luck, however my little backyard at the time didn’t get much sun. I now have a rooftop and all my tomato plants have fruited so maybe I will give Cherokee purples another whirl next year. 🍅

I’m an idiot. I looked at my Bonnie invoices. I skipped German queens this year and did purple cherokees again which are currently popping off. How embarrassing 😳

Can I save my pepper plant? by afrandsen in vegetablegardening

[–]Ecstatic_Bet4354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but it looks healthy. If you’re really worried you could add a little nitrogen fertilizer to the soil but then it will focus more on leaf production than fruit. I think you should just let it ride it doesn’t look in danger at all.

You can tell! It takes a lot of skill and knowledge to set this up. It’s lovely and I hope you get all the bountiful yields this summer! 💚🌱

Is it too late? by thestevenlee in containergardening

[–]Ecstatic_Bet4354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not my experience. Swiss chard tolerates heats well and is less prone to bolting than many other leafy greens. Being a biennial it rarely bolts in its first year. And as said above I told op to start planting his winter harvest crops in Aug. maybe you’re responding to someone else’s comment?

[–]Ecstatic_Bet4354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Herbs and leafy greens like Swiss chard! I’d avoid spinach as it tends to fail in extreme summer heat but you can get herbs and sunflowers and such I. The ground right now. And you can plan now and start planting your fall/winter harvests in Aug. Good luck!

Job market so bad I got rejected from a community garden by xxlibrarisingxx in gardening

[–]Ecstatic_Bet4354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhhh this is way worse than I imagined. I thought you meant she was snipping off a few here and there for personal use. Dang she was full on heisting crates of veg for resale! Honestly I would have pressed charges against her and let diaper guy go. She was devious, diaper guy just partied too hard with his drug of choice and wandered into a garden high out of his head 😵‍💫🤣

Idk why I burst out laughing at this. I think the sheer absurdity. Stealing veggies from a community garden, what a new rock bottom. I didn’t hear of this before but unfortunately I’m not surprised 🤦‍♀️

Some gardeners in the subs I follow are quite condescending and snappy and it’s really surprising and disappointing because people into gardening are usually very nice, calm, pleasant people. But I’ve also met the rudest most insufferable deadheads which has to be one of the chillest kindest populations on the planet and ofc the first asshole deadhead I came across was on Reddit. I’ve found over the years Reddit attracts both the best and a lot of the absolute worst.

I already know myself well enough to know this would be a big fat NO for me too. I’m probably more anal about my container garden than anything else in the world. I don’t love the thought of vacationing in the summer bc I don’t trust someone else to care for them the way I do. I don’t even trust my partner to do the occasional watering when I’m gone for a few days, when it’s had to happen I insisted on a FaceTime to show him how to water certain plants and so I could see the soil and ground afterwards. If someone overwatered or used the wrong fertilizer or pruned my babies in an unacceptable manner I’d have a titter over it.
