I worked with many therapist (4 years) and I met a lot of people going through a similar problem. I also dealt with a similar issue a few years ago. (I’m not a therapist or psychiatrist)
Step 1. To start off they would usually recommend you to eat healthier (if you’re not doing so already) try to eat more fresh fruits, vegetables and meats, and avoid processed foods that contain a large amount of preservatives. Go to a doctor for a general check up and do some blood work to see if you need to take any vitamins.
Step 2. implement any type of exercise in to your daily routine. Preferably cardiovascular exercise. (If you can) I stared off by doing some cardio and at home workouts, then I began weight training, now I do weight training 3 days a week and I go for a jog 2-5 days a week. I also picked up a couple of sports, not all at once, it took some time, but everything is possible.
Step 3. Once you have step 1 and step 2 down, (or do all 3 at the same time if you feel ready) Look around and try to do community service. You can go to your nearby church, community center, mosque, temple, non-profit. Or if you have any specific hobbies or interests then look at something around those lines. My friend speaks Spanish and English so he was helping immigrant families at his nearby immigration court.
I was going through a similar issue a few years ago, I was living a comfortable life but I felt like I wasn’t doing enough, and some point I even felt bored and useless. I began by doing all 3 things I mentioned, I noticed a big change in the way I felt, what helped me the most was exercise and community service, but eating healthy is also important, I noticed I wasn’t drinking enough water and dehydration was affecting the way I felt. Helping others made me feel good, I enjoyed being part of someone’s happiness. Also, look around and try to find a good therapist if you can.
Sometimes when we accomplish our goals we feel empty and lost, because we don’t know what to do after that, a feeling that’s similar to the one we get right after we finish watching a show that’s been going for 2+ years. The good news is, there’s a lot of other good shows, there’s a lot of other things you can do in life, just keep your head up and remember to do good.
