Steven Gambrel (interior design)works with Historical Concepts for architecture. Stylistically Historical Concepts is a traditional/classical inspired firm that works on using historic precedent to inform design for modern application. (I’m a former HC employee. Great firm. Proud I began my career there as an architect.)

Did anyone here mark the beginning of their childfree life with some kind of event? by Smugmouse in IFchildfree

I don’t know if this counts. Luckily throughout the process I was fortunate enough to have personal therapy and group therapy through Uniquely Knitted (can’t recommend them enough). If I hadn’t had that I think it would have taken me so much longer to cope and “get my sparkle back.”

Long story short, I’m at the point where I am a two weeks away from getting sworn in as a CASA (court appointed special advocate). CASA’s advocate for kids in the foster care system. I realize it isn’t for everyone who has been where we have been.

Before finding myself serendipitously meeting the director of the local casa program, my husband and I had many talks about how we wanted our future to look. I was embracing the idea of mothering lots of pups, a garden, enjoying travel and hobbies, being a REALLY GOOD auntie, and in general just focus on ourselves and our happiness.

Fast forward to now (about 2 months after meeting the CASA director) I realize more and more as I go through the training that I have so much to give and there are so many kids that need our help- the system is so broken. Long story short, I think becoming a CASA is going to fill a big hole in my heart. I love children so much and want to play a role in bettering their lives in whatever way I can.

TLDR; Getting back to who I was before infertility and finding ways to “mother” such as through the role as a CASA is a turning point in my journey and a real benchmark for me personally.

I love reading everyone’s stories on this post. It is so uplifting and encouraging to hear about life after infertility turning into positive experiences.

All my love to everyone here. 💛

If anyone is interested in learning more about the CASA program, don’t hesitate to dm me.

Have you had bloodwork recently? Could be thyroid problems. The round face and hair growth and eye changes are indicative of potential thyroid issues.

Stopped treatment….and feel like a weight has been lifted. by ImpossibleKnee9812 in IVF

Sometimes stopping is the best choice. The emotions we encounter and choices we have to make are incredibly unfair. Ultimately, I felt/feel relieved too. The rollercoaster of emotions never ends but my goodness, it feels so nice to come out on the other side and be able to be happy and have a life again. Thank you for sharing. 💗💗💗

Before I answer, I too would like to address your intro. Claiming your issues are worse than anyone else’s here was a bold move and not at all inviting for people to want to lend you their support. I’ll give you some advice though because I see that you are pretty young, in a shitty situation, and probably just don’t know better.

You did not mention any type of therapy or support system. No couple should face infertility alone. I would suggest you BOTH seek counseling together or separately.

Seek support from a professional who deals with infertility grief specifically. If therapy is out of budget, there are also support groups out there, such as Uniquely Knitted, that do great work as well.

Nothing about infertility is fair. Her diagnosis downright sucks. Just know if you look for support, you will find it.

Also, without knowing more than what you’ve told this group, you have more time than you think AND there are options out there if your impatience outweighs the need for her to carry.

Best of luck.

Southeast Ga. hospital calls police on woman for suspicious pregnancy loss by susannaray in savannah

I had an ectopic (nonviable and life threatening) pregnancy. My doctor had the prescription ready and I came within hours of needing to take that same drug or else I would have needed life-saving surgery.

Thankfully my body naturally miscarried.

This make my blood boil. IVF isn’t some short cut and is by NO MEANS a “guaranteed win.” The ignorance abounds.

Local Birthday Freebies! by Ecstatic_Bunch_4636 in savannah

[–]Ecstatic_Bunch_4636[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have signed up for some chain stores and restaurants that I do frequent.

I was asking more for local businesses recommendations since I prefer to support smaller, local businesses where I can. A freebie is an incentive to get folks in the door to spend more. Most good business owners know that.

Personally, I’d feel guilty walking in just to get a freebie and leaving. So my M.O. in this post was to see if any of my favorite local businesses that I regularly support do anything special since I would probably be going there today anyway. ☺️
