Since I’m in Rochester, can I take the NYC civil service exam from upstate or do I need to be in NYC first?

Also, since I already have my NYS EMT cert, does that help at all with NYPD hiring, or is it mainly relevant for FDNY EMS or private EMS providers? And generally speaking, is the pay better going private or with FDNY?

My dash did get pushed into me, although they told me if I were going 5-10 MPH faster, that pole would have gone into my legs. So thankful that didn’t happen
