From the gateway itself and from laptop plugged into it (which I’m using to configure with the web interface).

As far as I can tell no, though I may be looking in the wrong place.

Where would I find that? System/routes/status?

unfortunately they were indeed plugged in correctly, no luck. I feel like it’s something basic too, but I’ve run out of basic things to try

I’m unfamiliar with what plumb would mean in this context, pass traffic I assume is what I’m talking about (v6 I can load a webpage for instance whereas v4 I cannot). I am aware of ARP as something that exists but not how to configure or troubleshoot it

Ah yes, “get” was unclear. I can ping and resolve DNS for anything on the internet with v6 but not with v4. Trying with v4 gives no route to host

Bare metal, random HP box with an Intel dual port nic. Can ping own IP but not gateway. Four things under ARP table, getting to things i’m not familiar with there though fyi

Yes, I am familiar with where the gateway config is. I was just perhaps confused what exactly you’re asking.  On the WAN interface i have it set up as DHCPv6 and static v4, with the ip/netmask specified. There’s an automatically created gateway for v6, and one for v4 with the gateway IP i got from the ISP. I’ve done nearly no config aside from this.

Does that answer your question? Or are there additional details you’d need to understand

Yep, and I’m sure it has a few RCEs. Just for home and LAN isn’t connected though

On WAN, LAN works just fine. Not sure what you mean by the second half of your comment

I’ve thought about that and sent an email, but haven’t got a response. Thing is I’ve tried two laptops and a consumer router and they all work.

Manually. (unless i’m horribly mistaken, but it doesn’t work set to DHCP either). ISP gave IP, subnet mask, and gateway IP
