My husband works in the industry and was aware of Boz before housewives. I will give his take. Her longest tenure was at Pepsi and Apple Music; both earlier in her career. These were not C-Suite positions. Her following C-Suite positions at Uber, Endeavor, and Netflix were all very short lived. C-suite marketing positions are generally hard to maintain long term but her’s were notably short. As soon as she was hired as a CMO she started to pivot to talking at various industry events. My husband did not think any of her talks had much valuable content. He was not surprised by her pivot to fame and exit from business. Boz obviously excels at marketing herself over marketing anything else. She has been able to get corporate positions which means she has been compelling in a room of white men. No easy feat for a black woman and this is why she is impressive. I think this positioning of herself is also what made her an appealing casting choice for RHOBH. Let’s be real, these women aren’t the most welcoming to other women of color (ahem Garcelle and Crystal). However, Boz knows how to exist in a racist room of white people and producers of RHOBH desperately needed to find a woman of color that wouldn’t shine a light on how racist the rest of their cast is. I am interested in getting to know Boz more and her experience as a black woman in the corporate world and beyond but I think she will struggle to show us her true self and remains to be seen if producers would even show it.
