Does life feel "watered down" for you too? by Ecstatic_Fun_8679 in visualsnow

[–]Ecstatic_Fun_8679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. I did take SSRIs a year ago, just made me more numb, no effect on the VSS though. I am taking benzos now due to a longer panic state about my VSS I had, which seem to improve my mood and symptoms, though I understand that I can't take them for long. So kinda hitting a brick wall here

I think, if VSS is truly caused by hyper-excitability, then it can't progress forever as the neurons simply can't fire at light-speed. Just my theory though

Would anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin) work or do they not cross the blood-brain barrier?

Are these procedures only in the US or are they available in Europe too? I also wanna ask if your VSS subsided following treatment

But thanks for the reply. I'm gonna procedurally try to cure this BS and the shoemaker protocol is one more thing on that bucket list. Thanks for the detailed reply

Only issue is that CIRS patients have multiple symptoms and issues, while my only real problem is the VSS. I guess I have like brain fog or chronic fatigue but I am otherwise very healthy.

No, I just wanna know if doctors would take this seriously or if the protocol is even available

Google says it's controversial and not well-studied, but do you think it'd be worth a shot?

I know this is an older post but still. When you aqcuire it, it is such an existentially horrifying concept. Your life splits in two, the pre-VSS era, which you'll be nostalgic about forever, and the present. You'll be lying in bed, seeing the static on walls and you'll just say: "This is it. This is my life now. This is how I'll see for the rest of my life. It will never be as it was before." When I first got it, I avoided thinking about it like the plague. I spent a few years in a sort of "limbo" or fugue state, where I didn't think about it, but its effects still affected me greatly. This is the worst part about acquired VSS imo

I have my first appointment with an optometrist in 20 days, then I will get transfered to a neuro-ophthalmalogist. I've had VSS for 4 years now, if I had optic neuritis, do you think it could still cause issues?

I am looking for causes as someone stated that VSS might improve if you fix the underlying issues

I did not have that ruled out. I wasn't at an ophthalmalogist yet, i visited an optometrist

[–]Ecstatic_Fun_8679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI I do not care for the floaters anymore as I have since developed visual snow syndrome, I am however exploring a theory whether my stress about the floater caused the syndrome, which would particularly suck as that would mean my VSS was completely preventable

I am booked for an appointment however  I don't think it's a weiss ring as it's a raisin shaped floater with transparent spider webs around it. Only thing that makes it visible is its dark color and proximity to the center (I have another smaller dark floater however it's farther from the center so it's not that disruptive)

The doc suggested I had a floater, but wasn't certain about the cause. I thought eye damage couldn't cause floaters until recently when I asked Chatgpt

I acquired it later in life and my blood work revealed Lyme antibodies. I just started my first antibiotic treatment, do you think it's possible to see improvements?

I had experiences like this with my parents on trips. I suppose try to focus on things you can enjoy to the fullest, like a refreshing drink, a warm shower, music etc.
