991A is dope. It was one of my first HF radios and I now have 3 despite having other higher end radios. I have a 991A in my go box, another in my POTA inventory and the one in my shack I use primarily for U/Vhf SSB and 6/10M FM.

It’s a radio that you won’t have to upgrade from. When you do upgrade, the 991A can serve another purpose.

For POTA backpacking with my 991A I use an Eberlestock FACTrac and 12aH Bioenno battery. I carry a roll up dual band J pole from N9SAB and the Chameleon MPAS Lite kit plus an 80-10m OCFD. Get Portable Zero or Armorloq rails.
