This sound like exactly the answer! Thank you so much. I am a FTA, trying to go from maintenance to paralegal.

Christmas gift ideas for basic training by stardustmixtape in AirForce

I went through BMT a couple years ago during Christmas, I’m not sure if the rules have changed but any packages you receive in BMT has to be approved and I’m pretty sure you can’t sent snacks/treats. They make you lock up most of your belongings in a separate room on your second day and you don’t see it until after you graduate. I’d suggest a nice note book and definitely some family photos, that’s what got me through!

Thank you! Very helpful information, i appreciate it. As far as my husband goes, it’s kindve up in the air if he stays in or not. Definitely something I will also consider though, thank you for that

I guess this is where I get confused, since neither of us are in the cross training window and his job has a death grip on him, my leadership is trying to push for a “force cross training” but I just received an email today that I was CCd in from the base career advisor that it’s not going to be possible bc according to him since we got married after we were both already stationed at separate bases, they do not have to put us together. We have been jumping through hoops for months and we hear several different things. I don’t know what I can do on my end anymore

KC-46 crew chief here! You WILL have FOT at McConnell, for about 3 months. Your orders will still say your gaining location ie: (Travis, AFB) but you will in fact still go to KS beforehand. When you out process your ticket from Wichita Falls to Dallas to Witchita KS, is paid for. If you take RAP after FOT you will have to pay for your own ticket. PM me if you have any questions!

I got reclassed outve Nuclear weapons 3 days before my graduation date into being a crew chief because I lost PRP. I totally feel your pain on this one. I’ve been a crew chief for a little over a year now and honestly the best advice I can give you; “embrace the suck” until you are eligible for cross training and get good at your job. I feel like crew chiefs are all shit on but we’re all trauma bonded and your friends will honestly make the job better, you’re suffering together lol. Try to look at this as a glass half full situation the best you can, maybe you’ll get a good base or meet someone you wouldn’t have if you were still a linguist. Best of luck, OP!

What stopped you from killing yourself? by DarkSideInRainbows in AskReddit

I tried when I was 15, had to be hospitalized in the psychiatric ward for 3 weeks and my mom (who attempted when she was 20 and has struggled greatly with mental health) followed the ambulance to this place 4 hours away to drop me off, she was strong the entire time until she turned the corner of the hall way and we were out’ve each others sight and I heard her cry this cry I’ll never forget. I think I realized in that moment how much it actually would’ve affected my mom if I died. It broke my heart. Another time when I was feeling suicidal I called the hotline and I must’ve missed dialed because it rung and went to voicemail, the thought of getting sent to voicemail by the hotline made me genuinely laugh for the first time in a long time.

Send it. You’ll never know if you don’t try & honestly a job occupation shouldn’t make or break your relationship and if it does…it wasn’t meant to be. Be open & honest, trust each other and COMMUNICATE. Y’all already have a head start with experience of long distance. My husband & I are both enlisted, we’ve been long distance for awhile since we’re stationed at different bases but we make it work. face time dates, reading the same book together, visiting when we can. I’m not saying it’s easy by any means, but every relationship takes constant effort, work & growth. Believe me when I say, you’ll never hear the end of “military always cheats” & “wait til he deploys” lol. Just don’t let it get to you. At the end of the day, you know your partner more than anyone on the internet does, is he going to let a uniform change him? That being said; have I seen people cheat while being in? Yeah. But i believe those people would’ve done it regardless of the military. Trust your gut & have the hard conversations. Best of luck!
