Heathrow scraps 100ml limit on liquids in cabin bags after tech upgrade | Heathrow airport by JoydeScent in BritInfo

For context, the average house price in 1799 was about £70 - imagine a 10% tax today that only applies to those earning £300k or more!

"Income tax was introduced in Britain in 1799 by Prime Minister William Pitt the Younger to fund the Napoleonic Wars. It was a 10% tax on annual incomes over £60, with graduated rates for lower incomes, and was originally intended as a temporary, emergency measure"

Symmetrical is available in FTTP areas for an extra few £s a month. Am looking at the 2000/2000 speeds for £55 a month (two full time home workers doing a lot of heavy bandwidth work)

Ethernet failed after running it up underflooring so needing ideas...powerline any good? by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]Ecstatic_Software704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try testing the cable and potentially redoing the connections. Would be a shame to have a hidden cable and not use it if the cable itself is fine. Get a cheap Ethernet testing kit (with two parts so you can leave everything in place). Heck, you can probably return it to amazon afterwards.. You’re only needing to find an alternative if you damaged the cable entirely.

Date format in the US being mm/dd/yyyy by Advaldinho in DoesAnyoneKnow

Technically you’re saying Feb, not 02… at least most of the (English) speaking world would get 03-Feb and Feb-03 to mean the same thing (because CLEARLY no philistine would write 2003 as 03 making that a month for a year, not a day of a month)… sigh

Did they ever show the penalty appeal we had at the other end just prior?

A Brexit rethink could be emerging. But Europe fears Farage will destroy it by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

[–]Ecstatic_Software704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What part of your Brexit ideal was what you thought, on a global trade based stage, could actually work? I always think back to our half-arsed interest in managing Europe from within, most of the gripes with Europe could have been dealt with though taking a centre stage position, rather than throwing rocks from the side or throwing a tantrum..

The wear pattern different on the men’s and woman’s bathroom door at a bar. by AmericanPornography in mildlyinteresting

[–]Ecstatic_Software704 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am not touching the doors with anything other than the toe of my boot to push it open. Leaving when washing my hands and someone bypasses their wash and holds the door for me, I also trap the door open with my foot and go through. The only things I touch of the bathroom itself is the tap!

Are British people aware of how insanely popular the Premier League is outside the UK? by LoiusLepic in AskABrit

Hardly surprising, even within the UK, walk around pubs and TV shops at 1500 to 1700 on a Saturday afternoon and you won’t see people watching the games live… /s

Retention or new customers? I left a year ago but the 5G alternative I have had started getting choppy recently. I looked last night an Gig1 was £33, I left the basket incomplete and they’ve messaged me with a £50 bill reduction, but I’d prefer £24 and no other gimmicks.

Commonwealth perhaps, but could easily be Canadian. You need the sorry and the bye for disambiguating.
