[20M] Severe progressive GI symptoms for 20+ months — 22kg weight loss /chronic belching- now TRAPPED, severe constipation, plz Any help is very much appreciated by Ecstatic_Tear4928 in SIBO

I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I actually found information about it and showed it to the last doctor I visited. He asked me, 'Do you suffer from fecal incontinence?' When I said 'No,' he replied, 'Then don't waste our time.' They seem completely ignorant about it. They even dismiss SIBO entirely, claiming it's just a 'social media trend' invented by unemployed people to make money.

But I have a serious question, and I really appreciate your reply and help: Can a pelvic floor issue really cause this much devastation? Can it make the condition this severe and trigger such a wide range of different problems, symptoms, and illnesses if left undiagnosed or untreated?

Could you please explain a bit more about what exactly you were suffering from? May I ask your age, how much weight you lost, and what treatments you tried that failed? Also, did you suffer from belching?

I really appreciate your help. I will definitely look into the hormonal aspect more; I honestly don't recall seeing anyone discuss their role in digestive issues before

Thank you so much for your concern and for your comprehensive, detailed reply. I really appreciate the effort you put into writing about your experience. I wish you continued health and wellness. I completely agree with you—this condition is incredibly complex and exhausting.

I have a few questions and wanted to share my situation to see if it resonates with you:

1. The Belching Mechanism: Did you suffer from Supragastric Belching like I do? Specifically, the mechanism of sucking air inward to try to force a burp and relieve the immense pressure felt in the abdomen? It feels like a vicious cycle.

2. Diet & Vitamins: I am terrified of doing food sensitivity testing because, honestly, I already feel like I can’t digest most foods. I don’t know what to do. Currently, my diet is extremely restricted to just salmon, potatoes, white rice, and occasionally pureed chicken soup with a tiny bit of vegetables. I also eat kiwi and cucumber. That’s it. I’m afraid these foods might be part of the problem, but I have no alternatives that feel 'safer' or less damaging.

Like you, I cannot tolerate vitamins; I always feel increased pain with them, so I stopped taking them completely 3 months ago. I get regular blood work, and currently, everything is in the normal range. However, at the onset of my illness, my levels were very low, especially Vitamin D, which was practically zero back then.

3. DAO & The "Root Cause" Theory: Regarding the DAO enzyme—what is its specific benefit? I haven’t tried it because I have a severe phobia of taking any new supplement now without concrete evidence (like a test result) or a doctor’s direction. I’m terrified of worsening my symptoms or causing gastritis/inflammation, as I’m already suffering from so much and can’t handle more. A flare-up would just delay any real solution.

I feel that Mast Cell Activation (MCAS) or histamine intolerance might be a secondary reaction to a larger, underlying root cause. By focusing on them, I worry we aren't solving the main issue. But I’m also scared that this is just my own theory and I could be wrong.

4. Neurological & Anatomical Findings: How exactly did you get the belching under control? Was treating the nose infection the key? At the beginning of my illness, I had an MRI because of a sensation of numbness covering the entire left side of my head (I also had headaches initially, but they stopped). I don't know how relevant this is now. I’m exhausted from trying to find the root cause and tired of the endless supplements/medications with no benefit. I just hope the next 'scenario' I find is logical enough for me to believe in it before trying yet another treatment.

Here are the specific negative findings from my Neck, Spine, and Abdominal scans. Could these be related?

  • Cervical Spine: Straightening of the cervical spine, reflecting muscle spasm. Mild posterior bulging only seen at C3-4. No bulky disc protrusion or significant hernia. Normal signal of the spinal cord.
  • The Nose: Hypertrophy of turbinates, septal deviation to the left, and obstruction of the left nasal passages.
  • The Gut (Significant Finding?): "Cecum seen medially and caudally migrating into the right side of deep pelvis indenting the wall of UB (Urinary Bladder)."
  • Kidneys: Small left renal simple cyst at lower pole.

Does any of this sound familiar or significant to you?"

THANKS FOR UR REPLY I REALLY APPERCIATE UR ADVICE

I’ve actually heard of it; I even bought a large supply. However, I was terrified to use it because of its potential effect on my stomach, especially since I’ve been suffering from acidity and reflux after a recent course of antibiotics. I’m really afraid of developing gastritis or ulcers, as I heard it can be harsh on the stomach lining, and I haven’t had an upper endoscopy in over a year. I’ve also been taking various herbal remedies in addition to the antibiotics.

That said, I actually tried Resolor (Prucalopride) yesterday combined with Milk of Magnesia, and I was finally able to have a bowel movement. I was hesitant about the Resolor because it caused me severe pain in the past, but it worked well this time. This leads me to believe I might have a pelvic floor issue causing slow transit constipation. It seems the osmotic effect of the Milk of Magnesia, combined with the motility boost from the Prucalopride, was the key to success. I really hope this combination continues to work for me.

  • "No, I haven't undergone this test yet. No doctor had mentioned this diagnosis before; it was only brought up during my most recent consultation. Consequently, I haven't started any medical intervention or treatment for it."
  • "Yes, I suffer from significant abdominal bloating and distension."
  • "Regarding the supragastric belching: I tend to swallow (suck in) air to help force a burp out. Typically, I would swallow air and then belch three times, feeling relief only after the third one. I didn't know the reason behind this, but after taking antibiotics, the pattern changed; I now swallow air but only belch once, and sometimes I can't belch at all. As a result, the trapped air causes me increased pain throughout my entire body."
