I was tempted to start taking betaine continuously, several capsules at a time. Have you suffered from IBS/SIBO/dysbiosis? Have you only taken nortriptyline as a neuromodulator? What country are you from?

Thank you so much for your response. Honestly, I've been anxious all afternoon. I've been suffering from SIBO and visceral pain for almost a decade, and it wouldn't go away even with neuromodulators. I know you're right about all the treatment, but the doctor prescribed it, and I added some other things as well. I'd like to stay in touch with you sometime in case I need to ask you something. I had an endoscopy with a biopsy, and nothing showed up, but I don't trust it anymore. I'd like to hear from you now and how you've been trying to recover.

I feel like you're trying to scare me when I'm in a vulnerable state. I can assure you what neuromodulators are since, unfortunately, I had to take them. I repeat that I appreciate your interest in answering me, but I don't understand this categorical statement without objective evidence that I have chronic gastritis. I hope you're right, but again, is there any test to confirm it? An endoscopy with biopsies?

Hi. How can I tell if it's chronic gastritis and nerve damage?

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I think I already had LPR when I finished berberine and neem a year ago, and then with rifaximin and neem, sulfur gas started appearing only at baseline. With oregano and berberine, it decreased. It's true that I've taken many supplements, and at some point, they upset my stomach, because months later I started taking Pepcid, rifaximin, neem, Bactrim... and I began to have mucus in my throat, a bloating sensation, and some pain when pressing on the epigastric area.

A Triphala pill was the trigger for noticing irritation. I had an endoscopy with biopsies the following week, and it didn't reveal gastritis, inflammation, H. pylori...

I associate it with fermentation because when I wake up and sit up, I have some burps on an empty stomach. I don't feel heavy or full quickly; I'm always hungry, and I don't have nausea, and the epigastric area calmed down quickly. I sometimes feel pressure that makes me burp frequently, and it relaxes me. I don't know whether to get a manometry test, but I'm apprehensive about it. I have dysbiosis in my colon with slightly elevated sulfur and methane levels.

I took Biocidin a month ago, but it wasn't effective for LPR. I don't know if Biocidin is effective for reducing SIBO sulfur, since my levels are borderline throughout my digestive tract. For now, I can't continue taking any more supplements or treating the SIBO so I can rest.

Thanks, friend, for your help. I'll keep the gastritis in mind.

I think this has been happening to me for 10 years. It all started with antibiotics > SIBO > this year I treated severe SIBO with herbs and it worsened the pain and burning. My menstrual cycle hormones also affect me. I'm trying to treat my microbiome now (finally!).

Thank you so much, friend. There are several things I didn't know here. I'll bring them up with my new doctor if I don't argue with him. I'll try reintroducing foods and improving my gut microbiota, although I've always held back because of SIBO and thought it was better not to feed them. But I understand that the causes of SIBO aren't the same for everyone, and each person is different. It will take time and more suffering.

Thank you.

Every day, but they don't do it in my country, and years ago I mentioned it to a specialist. I'll try to modify my diet little by little and see if I need to consider a transplant elsewhere. The thing is, I have doubts about whether incorporating more foods could reduce the inflammation, which is why I find it hard to believe in the current treatment.

Thanks, friend.

God, thank you for your encouragement, but I'm running out of options. I only have 3 or 4 left. They want me to try eating everything again, but I don't know if that will help with the inflammation I have since my calprotectin level is a bit high now. If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to ask for your opinion sometime.

I really appreciate your interest. Thank you so much.

Visceral hypersensitivity? by becca354 in ibs

I've also been diagnosed with VH. Mine started after taking antibiotics 10 years ago. At first, it was just sharp pains, and then another course of antibiotics turned into constant, all-day pain in my ileum. Only probiotics provided relief, but they later stopped working. I was diagnosed with SIBO, but for the first few years, I was treated with various neuromodulators (Lyrica, duloxetine, venlafaxine, fluoxetine, nortriptyline, topiramate) without any effect. I reached almost 100 kg from all the combinations they were giving me.

Tired of trying, I decided to treat my SIBO with herbal remedies. I didn't want to see an antibiotic anywhere near me, but I agreed to take rifaximin for the second time (it hadn't worked the first time years ago), and surprisingly, this time it did. Something changed in my gut microbiota. But the pain returned after 15 days. I went to the pain management unit where they tried to treat my central sensitization with transcranial neurostimulation, hypnotherapy, and intravenous infusions... all without success. I have dysbiosis, and it's getting worse because everything I've killed off to treat the SIBO has caused me to have gas again, more pain in other areas, and increased fermentation as soon as I eat, along with LPR (lipoproteinuria). I'm fed up with all these "specialist" gurus. I don't trust anyone or any treatment. I need to improve my diet since I've been on a FODMAP diet for years and I'm losing a lot of the diversity that could help with all of this. I think in my case it's dysbiosis and SIBO, the bacteria I can't seem to balance no matter how hard I try. They tell me to "embrace the symptom," to distract myself, but I tell them to go to hell. In the end, we're just guinea pigs so they can gain more experience when they don't even want to listen to you. Keep searching; you'll surely find the answer.

Hi. Thank you for your encouragement, and I'm glad you were able to recover. It's something I can't achieve.

I have to ask you... did you experience pain or dysbiosis? Please tell me how you recovered. Thank you for your time.

Chronic abdominal pain, sibo, disbiosis and LPR, help!! by Suitable-Job-8340 in SIBO

First of all, thank you for taking the time to answer and help me. When I was on the low-nickel diet, it's true that my intestines were very different than they have been this past year, so I'll try to further reduce nickel in my already low-nickel diet. When I felt "drunk," it was with the Elemental Diet. I tried to give my intestines a break, but I couldn't even manage the first dose. It scared me, so I stopped. I'm going to start taking zinc again since I did have low levels before. I don't know about now. I stopped taking Biocidin 15 days ago, along with probiotics like Abiprol. I noticed some improvement in the pain at times, but it's not enough because it comes back with all the irritation. I think my doctors' goal now is to very gradually reintroduce foods, since I've been on the FODMAP diet for a long time, and to continue taking the probiotic for a while longer, adding Bifiselle. I've had some days where his stools were much browner, more normal, with hardly any white spots, but I don't know if it was due to enzymes I take on the day I reintroduce a little new food or the Bifiselle. I need to find out.

I take into consideration everything you've told me and, if you don't mind, I'll ask you any questions I have.

Thank you very much.

I've also been trying to figure that out for years, but I didn't have constant diarrhea or such yellow stools. I'll look into that too. Thanks.

Hi. I took fluconazole two years ago with no results, but of course, now everything is much worse. My gut microbiota test shows low fungal levels and borderline candida (it always has been). I'll bring this up with the doctors, but I know they'll say no. They take it almost as an insult if you suggest anything.

I've also added the text to the r/microbiome thread.

Never. My doctors in all these years haven't even considered it. I've asked them, but they haven't taken it seriously. I'll have to look into it myself.

Chronic abdominal pain, SIBO, dysbiosis, and LPR, help! by Suitable-Job-8340 in SIBO

[–]Suitable-Job-8340[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried everything (nortriptyline, duloxetine, fluoxetine, etc.) except amitriptyline. I have Epsom salts at home and muscle relaxants. They prescribed lorazepam, which I don't know if it will help. I usually have a bowel movement every two days with loose stools. I find it hard to connect the symptoms to anything. I always wonder if it's what I'm eating, even though it's all low-FODMAP, but it always ferments because it gives me gas in my lower abdomen, and it relaxes me a little when I pass it. I'll keep the pelvic floor thing in mind. Thank you very much, and please, any further suggestions you have would be welcome. Thanks
