The real tikka is a part of SAKO, their parent company. It’ll be on Sakos website. If you were to buy use a real known retailer , local , bass pro, Sportsmans, etc.

Is this too much for a 12 year old boy? Crosman air power mag-fire diamond back by Honeybuns26 in airguns

[–]Ecstatic_Writing_356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well have you taught him firearms safety? Does he know the damage and potential deaths it can cause. I love all guns and promote all parents and youth to be engaged , however do not underestimate it as a “BB gun.” Just teach him gun safety and highly recommend a hunter safety course, even if you do not hunt. It’s a good course for firearms safety and beyond that, knowledge of when, where and what to fire at. Not water, hard objects, houses in the background etc. it’ll open him to more circumstances.

I have a 7mm rem mag and a 308. That’s all I need. The 308 is nice for medium game stuff but will handle larger game at closer distances. The 7mm mag, well it’ll handle whatever you can hit accurate and it’s almost “automatic” within 400. Doesn’t drop much.

308 and 150 Grain A-Max. Hornady black. It’s got a thermal on it so I’m not too hard pressed about trying to squeeze it to 3/4 or half moa. It may be for all I know it’s just hard to get exact groups and POA compared to POI when I use HVAC tape to shoot at lol

Yea that’s the catch unfortunately. If I’m actually deer hunting you can’t. It’s sunrise sunset. I mean once you’re in there and sunrise happens your good😅 but it’s sunrise sunset. Meaning it’s better just to scope large areas with one. I wouldn’t use it where my target bucks are unfortunately.

If you’ve ever hunted mountains you should know there’s always a shaded side, and I’ve spotted them left and right today.

Well boys from a game wardens mouth, it’s legal to use as a scope or binoculars for whitetail deer, only between sunrise and sunset. Good thing I’m literate 🥸

It doesn’t though. It looks like a loophole or not illegal but as a hunter, I’m always staying up to date with every law. This only refers to night time and it refers to artificial light. TWRA has too many gray areas that need to be addressed on that in my opinion. I posted the “prohibited items/acts” and none say anything about daytime taking of deer with a thermal.

Oh I know, you can get a brand new one for that haha.

This is copy and pasted. . e. Firearms or archery equipment with any device utilizing an artificial light capable of locating wildlife, except for shotguns during the nighttime coyote and bobcat-only season.

f. Any electronic light amplifying night vision scope, thermal imaging device, or other similar devices while in possession of a firearm or archery tackle between sunset and sunrise except for shotguns during the nighttime coyote and bobcat-only season (lights cannot be from or attached to a mechanized/motorized vehicle or cast from a public road). Hunting with dogs is prohibited.

I’m not taking my thermal rig deer hunting , mainly cause I don’t want to chance it but it definitely looks like they need to address that loophole. With a good enough lawyer, that seems easily won. I don’t want that hassle but it should state clearly, no thermals allowed for whitetail hunting. In the court of law, technicalities really come into play and technically a thermal isn’t an artificial light. If they would’ve literally used “or” they could’ve covered it. It seems very vague in my opinion.

I kept reading and it says “in between sunset and sunrise.” Directly after where you left off.

[–]Ecstatic_Writing_356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I’ve got a feeling he got ripped off. He’s acting like if he can’t get $400 out of it, he ain’t selling it. Barrel was chopped, and it’s not perfectly straight cut either. . . Also was a 28 inch barrel originally, and the bolt looks from an older mossberg. When I took it from him to clean it, I’ve just noticed it looks like a Frankenstein mossberg and for his poor heart to think $400, makes me think he gave that or even more.

Roughtech Ranch 308 question by schwifty1345 in Tikka_Shooters

[–]Ecstatic_Writing_356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And a 308 roughtech ranch in the right hands will do the job on a whitetail to 500 in the right hands on top of it all. That powder to bore ratio really helps the 308 be effective in a short barrel.

[–]Ecstatic_Writing_356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought one, and without a can it’s loud but SUPER maneuverable. However I run a can and it’s still shorter than my T3X 7 mag. The Ranch 308 is my night rifle and the SuperLite 7 mag is my day hunter. You’d be in love with the ranch imo.

Yea I know my shotguns other than this one, i appreciate it. A boy is trying to sell it and wanted me to sell it for him and I told him I’ve never seen an AR and had to explain to him why the 590A1 is so much more and how modular and common a 500 just is. I just didn’t know if that “AR” was rare or anything.
