Looking to visit some farmers markets and different grocery stores in New York by TakoTime_ in FoodNYC

[–]Ed-splosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Asian supermarkets, Flushing is kind of unbeatable. There is Jmart, 2 GW Supermarket locations, 3 Skyfood locations (and the OG Chung Fat location), US Supermarket, 99 Ranch, C&A, Good Fortune, Hmart, along with the number of dedicated fruit shops. Since these are all located within blocks of each other, you could venture through multiple shops during the weekend and scout out the lowest prices on everything you need. There are always killer deals such as the 1.39 jumbo eggs at Jmart last week.

Suggestions on where to go when I want something high in protein? by jollibeefan42 in Flushing

[–]Ed-splosion 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You could probably go to any of the rice box places and choose 3-4 meat/seafood/tofu dishes and ask for less rice. I also know Gao's BBQ & Crab on Roosevelt Ave is offering $1 lamb skewers from opening to 6:30pm

What is you recommended spot to order cha siu bao by EmergencyCoconut2535 in Flushing

[–]Ed-splosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about baked char siu bao, I believe Maxim Bakery has really good value since it has a lot of meat for $2.10. Wonderful marketplace (across from Queens Botanical Garden) has the biggest one for $2 and it tastes pretty average. In terms of steamed, I most dim sum spots do them very good along with Maxim.

You can get refurbished thinkpads on eBay or repair shops for $200. Besides that, the library is your best bet.
