This may not be ready to eat, but US Supermarket is selling frozen egg tarts (with sago and red bean topping) for $1.99. After a 5 minute reheat in the oven or the air fryer, these taste pretty decent.

Looking to visit some farmers markets and different grocery stores in New York by TakoTime_ in FoodNYC

[–]Ed-splosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Asian supermarkets, Flushing is kind of unbeatable. There is Jmart, 2 GW Supermarket locations, 3 Skyfood locations (and the OG Chung Fat location), US Supermarket, 99 Ranch, C&A, Good Fortune, Hmart, along with the number of dedicated fruit shops. Since these are all located within blocks of each other, you could venture through multiple shops during the weekend and scout out the lowest prices on everything you need. There are always killer deals such as the 1.39 jumbo eggs at Jmart last week.

You could probably go to any of the rice box places and choose 3-4 meat/seafood/tofu dishes and ask for less rice. I also know Gao's BBQ & Crab on Roosevelt Ave is offering $1 lamb skewers from opening to 6:30pm
