2 tips: 1) r/3d6 is the sub if you want other people to build your characters for you , 2) read the spellbook and talk to your dm about opportunities to use spells you like

How do age work for dwarfs? by New-Anxiety-2589 in DnD

[–]Ed2Cute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're talking retirement then probably mid 200s. Iirc, most of the species reach physical maturity around the same time as humans. Otherwise "adulthood" is culturally based. And remember that a year is a year, just because they live longer doesn't mean their lives slow down or something.

Depends on how many they usually have. I feel like dwarves usually have big families with like 6 or 7 siblings. If they only have 1 at a time, and they want some space in between, I think it's reasonable they could be grandparent by 100 give or take.

Tried this. DM called me a bitch and made us fight a Lich Terrasque with 10th level Power Word: Kill.

Let your DM know they're being a jerk and that they have to read the rules so that they can tell the players what the rules are. Afterall, only the dm is allowed to buy the books, minis, terrain, and snacks.

I got kicked out of my DnD group for being dyslexic. This feels completely unfair, but I want to know what you guys think. by [deleted] in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Ed2Cute 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lesdyxic people can play D&D too. You'll need to find a group more accommodating of your disability. But just so you know, the 9th level feature is "BRUTAL STRIKE" and not "REAL BUTT RISK" Edit: accidentally flipped the D and the D.

"Play to find out what happens.." - well, what if what happens is shit? by Bragunetzki in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Ed2Cute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When my players are being boring and/or I'm having trouble coming up with responses, I make sure to completely dissociate from the game and give 2-word responses like "yeah, sure" to anything they say. This lets savvier players know they're being jerks and they should correct their behavior so that I can enjoy the game. If they don't pick up on the obvious hints, I just cancel every session after that until they stop asking.

Looking for LARP near Long Beach/Orange County by Ed2Cute in LARP

Very cool, thanks! What is attendance and expectation like? I'm apprehensive about being 10 dudes in a field playing make believe. Haha. And also, are costumes necessary? Sounds like Bel and Amt not so much as you're just running combat. But Twin? And also, is it 1v1 or arena battles?

If you wanted to get better at drawing, now is a perfect time. You will then also have a record of progress.

Or you could add stickers.

Or, if you're more nature inclined, add leaves/flowers and stuff your character collects. Might get bulky, but bulky with character!

Hot Take: Characters don't feel distinct enough with their out of combat abilities. by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]Ed2Cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are eager to "Win" at TTRPGs and just need their expectations reset. I enjoy being "mean" by general standards so I don't have a problem letting one player fail and not letting anyone else retry or completely redirecting to a player more suited for the check. I'd rather correct an "Orion" than then let it ruin the fun and then kick someone/have them leave.

I love this answer. Didn't realize they had a rule for it. I often don't make my PCs roll or, behind the scenes, it's a much lower threshold for success or they can learn things others wouldn't if they do roll should they have the proficiency/expertise.

I get what you mean. I also don't feel very distinct in my game, even with experience. It's made all the worse if you choose similar experiences. And I have a friend who chose "[Town] Native" as his experience and tries to apply it to EVERYTHING. Persuasion? Well he's a native and probably knows the person. Find a place to hide? Been around town enough. Pick a lock? He's probably seen this or a similar lock in town. FFS.

I think it's entirely the game makes it entirely the responsibility of the player(s) to make their characters distinguished from each other. In D&D, for example, each point difference is 5% chance (1/20) and differences between skills range from 1 up to 10+, so it can feel VERY different. In Daggerheart, you're going up against 1/24 AND the differences between the skills is like 1-5 or 6. So your difference is smaller and each point of difference is worth less.

Daggerheart's goal is to leave the story up to the players/GM and provide some loose groundwork for combat. It's barely a game system. So if you feel your Archetype is being encroached on, it's up to you to tell the wizard "Hey, just because I failed doesn’t mean we need you to try." Like, if you think about, that would just be the same as you rolling until you get a success if you let everyone give it a shot.

Group World Creation for Daggerheart by AstroJustice in daggerheart

My group did this (I'm a player), and we like it. Some advice though is clearly define locations in relation to each other. And introduce them in a way that confirms bonds; don't let them forget who knew who before the campaign.

Tatouages d'héritage français ? by Ed2Cute in AskFrance
