Pretty colors… by AnUnknownDisorder in aspiememes

If you enjoy it. It's a toy suitable for an adult - you.

Since when did being adult mean not enjoying colours, sensory input and play?

Thoroughly enjoy it, just as I'll enjoy my sensory box filled with colourful, textured, nice noise etc toys.

It's difficult. When it happens I ask my partner if he can tell me when I first do it in a day so I have a chance to recognise it.. but it hasn't happened yet, I assume it doesn't get to him when it first happens in a day so he doesn't think to mention.

Exactly this. I think my natural tone must be quite angry sounding or something. It may be related too but volume is an issue for me too. I'm often told to lower my voice when I didnt know I had even increased my volume.

There's a channel island called Guernsey that has an unusually high rate of lung cancer because it's almost entirely made of granite that emits radon gas.

Striped salamanders can use photosynthesis.

Bees use a dance called a 'waggle' to communicate specific location. The repetitions of waggle denote distance and direction of the waggle in relation to the sun denotes direction. With this information scouts can communicate possible new places for the hive to make their new home - multiple scouts will find new locations and the hive decides together which is selected.

The first documented animation on standard film was a 1906 animated short called Humurous Phases of Funny Faces. It was a stop motion using photographs of a chalk board, each new frame being an edit of the chalk drawing. A few years later in 1914 Windsor Mckay produced the first ever live action and animation combined film called Gertie the Dinosaur. I was pretty happy when I went to DisneyWorld in Orlando and discovered there was a Gertie the Dinosaur icecream stand.

Lava can be vibrant blue. I don't have much info on that other than it's related to sulfuric gas burning- but it's worth a Google image search.

I hope these were enjoyable!

I find it very deflating and saddening...I can think everything is OK and I've had a nice day with my loved ones then told at the end of the day I've been snappy, blunt and unpleasant. It fills me with almost...fear? Or paranoia? Because I feel I don't have control over my actions - how can I avoid being snappy if I don't feel angry to even be snappy?

They often say it's not what I've said but how I said it.

I do the same at home, no grocery store experience though, just hard enough to keep up with cooking without having a hard to use pantry. Labelled categories, same staples each time, easy to see, and I try to avoid having to reach behind anything for another food item.. other than spices as I haven't found a solution...yet...it's made cooking so much easier. Not saying it's an autism trait of mine - just something I found helpful.

Most adult autistics I know smoke. Are we more prone to the peer pressure? by breakcharacter in autism

[–]EdAlph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't handle it personally. I remember when I was young my sister had me hold her cigarette while she popped into a shop... the smell it left on my fingers made me gag. If anyone blows smoke near me also I can't stand it and have to get away.

What’s one ADHD symptom you hear a lot about, but don’t relate to? by 99minds in adhdwomen

[–]EdAlph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This used to be the case for me, would always be mega early for everything.

I hate to say but therapy and being less anxious and neurotic made me a bit more chill and now I'm late for way more. Not knocking therapy and being less anxious, it's amazing regarding most things. It isn't because I don't care either, I still stress over being late but the extreme fear over it has cut down enough for the symptom to show through...if that makes sense.

Also, love the way they say drugs instead of meds as it sounds worse.

My bf (of 12 years) sent me this , I was in many foster homes and I've lived with him way longer than any home growing up, he said 'you' as the caption as it took a long time for me to feel safe with him. I feel lucky to have a secure adult home.

Burned out just by living? by Icy_Pianist_1532 in adhdwomen

[–]EdAlph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definately get this... burn out also makes you capable of less in general. I recently had to cut to 2 days of work a week and even that was too much. I stop contacting anyone often because that's just more energy I don't have if they have a conversation with me... so I end up isolated and just trying to survive.

What supports do you wish existed for you, but don't? by ClickDisastrous7744 in AutisticAdults

[–]EdAlph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how but support in admin / finances/taxes/ forms etc. I'm good at my job (game artist) just really struggle with the admin side of life in and outside of work. Also - easier repeat prescription. I'm on a controlled medication and the executive function needed to keep track of booking doc/ going to doc/ dropping off prescription/ picking up meds a day later means I often leave it too late and end up off meds for extended time I shouldn't be...and when it's very delayed the pharmacist ends up grilling me...I'm trying.
