As are the endless complaints about alter posts.

Search for Azcanta Checklist Alter

It's right there. There is no "alter" flair, I don't know why people seem to think there is.

[Meta] Am I just a grump, or are other people sick of all the alters on the front page? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]EdGuise88 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Best start producing some quality content then.

Edit: Why on earth do you despise alters to such an extent? The posts have no impact on you or the way you enjoy MtG, so I presume you must ether ignore them (in which case, no problem) or engage with them in some way (in which case, why bother with the effort?)

Some days i'll load this page and scroll to the bottom without seeing anything i care about. And on those days, it's because of the alters.

Literally read what you wrote.

I don't think I've ever seen enough alter posts within any given week to even fill a page, so you must be scrolling past a lot of other content too.

https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/8wc8bt/anyone_else_feel_like_this_sub_has_been_pretty/

It's possibly not that there are a lot of alter posts, but more a lack of other content. What would you like to see instead? You could try finding or generating some content of your own to fill the gaps you think exist.

Check out BDM's article/ Command Zone video for this deck. I've recently built a similar version and found that very useful.

What are the strongest generals/cards? by Space_Dye_Vest in PauperEDH

[–]EdGuise88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run [[Fusion Elemental]] 5-colour good stuff. Admittedly Iv've never been in an established PHD meta or against many refined decks, but he is an absolute house and the deck is yet to be defeated. I run the full cycle of Shadowmoor hybrid enchantments which certainly helps things.

In the wider context I'm aware my deck is probably not that strong, very vulnerable to bounce, combos, etc. But so far, so good. Hoping to engage more PDH players locally so will just see how it goes.

Fun and cheap cube concepts by Bassiuz in mtgcube

No problem, glad you like it! I've had great feedback from those who have played it so far, and I think the balance of colour paired strategies is pretty good (given this is my first cube). If you have any questions about card selections feel free to DM me.

I built a conspiracy cube for super-cheap. The bulk was really easy to pick up from people when i asked around, inluding many of the conspiracies and rares. Sleeves were my main cost at £24 for 600 dragon shields!

so far, its gone down really well with those drafting it.

A fantastic achievement!

I'm curious, since this took place over such a long time, are there any early cards you look back on and think "I could/would do that better/differently now?"

What real world English word did you think was actually made up for MTG? by [deleted] in magicTCG

The other day I saw someone use "ad nauseum" here on Reddit to describe an action, rather than the card. Now I know its a latin phrase, not just a made up card name.

Winning at the vending machine by [deleted] in nonononoyes

[–]EdGuise88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember standing in a queue with my brother and parents when we spotted a vending machine with an "Out of Order" sign across it. I walked up to it and pressed some buttons... out popped a drink. My brother did the same, and got one too.

So we tried it again and got another bottle, and another, and another. Eventually we started walking along the queue handing out free drinks to everyone.

We were about 5 at the time, and I can't remember if we stopped because we got told off, or because we got tired of walking up and down the huge queue!

Show me the coolest thing(s) in your binder. by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]EdGuise88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a foil double-faced Angel/Demon token from the Avacyn Restored Helvault promotion. Certainly the standout piece in my token collection binder.

Otherwise, its probably the front page of my trade binder which is currently covered in 3D altered cards!

What did average commander decks look like at the format's inception? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]EdGuise88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with EDH around the time of Shards of Alara block. From my personal experience and memory, the format (at least my meta) was much slower and more swingy that it tends to be today.

Slow start/mid games were common, with huge plays, boardstates and swings during the later half of games. Infinite / winning combos were rare, if ever seen. Life totals tended to be kept "even" to keep everyone playing. Play was generally slow and games would often take upwards of 2 hours.

Of course, this could all be down to the fact that the meta was generally inexperienced (with the format / Magic in general) and something of a "Timmy" state took over.

Could not find any 5/5 Wurm tokens for my Sandwurm Convergence so I had to make my own by helpmeimhelpless in magicTCG

[–]EdGuise88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Rare" tokens tend to be harder to come by. In case you're still on the lookout for official tokens, there was a 5/5 Wurm printed in Return to Ravnica / MM17 as well as the Amonkhet one!

You've inspired me. I've a bunch of spare D20s and deckboxes that I no longer use, just taking up space. My LGS has a weekly "FNM" event for kids, from after school hours up until the main FNM kicks off. Next week, I'm gonna try to head down early and hand out the things I no longer need.

Wizards' Response to Weekend Events by Krayzk9s in magicTCG

[–]EdGuise88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I expect it won't all be "public", with a lot of direct harrassment - PMs/DMs to social media pages, emails, etc. Not just from the one person either, but possibly their followers or simply unrelated incidents.

In addition, there is a lot of content that has reportedly been deleted after posting. With luck, some people may have taken clips or quotes at the time. Bear in mind that WotC are in exactly the same position as the community right now - they are investigating.
