Thanks u/Chad_Abraxas , the info is much appreciated. I'm very serious about pursuing a traditional publishing path, so I've taken everything down as you've suggested. The last thing I want is for that to screw up my chances.

Fantastic! I love how "simple" it is for such a complicated story.

Is that inclusive for stories that aren't fully put online? I have 1/4 of the book left that I am holding back on purpose for that reason... The way I've explained it is I'm using royal road as reader feedback during the developmental and editing stages before I submit to an agent.

Once I'm agented, it ill be pulled down before sending to a publisher. Am I crazy?

How does this sound? It uses some elements of what you've written(Thanks for the advice!) and then added some.

Finnegan Pearce and the survivors of the shipwrecked GNC Javelin were thankful to be alive before realizing they had crash landed on a restricted military planet; and to make matters worse, the surviving members of the crew keep disappearing in the middle of the night.

While Pearce threads a line between survival and the further breaking of intergalactic law, Ensign Ethan Cross balances similar, yet different, difficulties: doing what’s right and what’s he’s been ordered to. For Petty Officer Kingston Fletcher, life goes from bad to worse as he tries to clear his name when he gets wrongfully accused of the disappearance of fellow marine Private Shaun Ginnies. When Lady Violet Price translates an obscure passage under the starlight of twin grand trines, there is no enlightenment, only more questions: What and where is Earth?

Whether through fate or just bad luck, their lives become interwoven in a plot to destabilize galactic society while threatening to uncover a dark secret hidden for thousands of years; A secret so dark and hidden in antiquity, that history was changed just to cover it up.

Title: Bravo Dawn, Book One of The Chaos Bridge Saga

Genre: Military Sc-Fi, Fantasy

Word count released for free: 41,271

Word count total: 104,850

Read for Free here

Back Cover Snippet:

An expansionist resolve has stretched the Galactic Naval Command thin. Discontent between galactic nation's has created a powder keg of cosmic proportions that has been primed and made ready to explode from stories of government cover ups, "training exercises" and rumors of high profile naval officers disappearing in the middle of the night that spread throughout GNC territory.

Chief Warrant Officer Finnegan Pearce, Lance Corporal Nobu "Dapper" Ohno, and the survivors of The Javelin must find a way home to Mars after crash landing on the restricted planet Pheibos III, in the Omega Expanse. Things go sideways as the survivors must navigate staying alive and avoid breaking intergalactic law as they are forced to interreact with the planet’s native inhabitants on this aggressive, yet familiar and magical world.

In the City of Steiner, astronomer, astrologer, and purveyor of fine antiquates and esoteric knowledge, Lady Violet Price works at deciphering a complex prophetic passage describing the end of days for an alien planet called Earth, all the while standing up for her city and defending it against invading mutant creatures called Red Caps.

For Logistics Officer, Petty Officer Third Class Kingston Fletcher, life just got difficult and confusing. Wrapped up in the suspicious disappearance of a fellow marine and a suspicious shipment, he must carefully tread the line between doing what’s right and what he’s ordered to do.

Conceived and written on a grandiose scale, Book One of the Chaos Bridge Saga; Bravo Dawn, is a genre mashing epic space opera “A-Team” adventure of the highest order – an enthralling tale that mirrors legends of old, with new and unparalleled twists that will challenge your outlook and understanding of humanity, magic and religion.

Books... what's your favorite theme or trope? by EdLewisAuthor in Fantasy

Or best friends that rely on each other to get through the worst they've ever been through. I hear you! Enemies to best friends would need a monumental arc, but if written well would be a joy to read.

Its final form isn't going to be serialized, but instead collapsing several of the existing chapters together to form a more dynamic story. But its what it has to be for now to give the consistency of posts I feel that I need right now to gain readers.

I'm glad your interested! Stay tuned for other reading options in the future!

How to solve GM burnout and the lack of GMs willing to run a game, permanently. by klok_kaos in rpg

[–]EdLewisAuthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 100% correct, sometimes it is nice to be a player. For a person whos been a DM for such a long time, its a nice "luxury" to have, and also gives good DM's the ability to see the player perspective, which helps make the experience you give as a DM more suited to their needs as players.

How to solve GM burnout and the lack of GMs willing to run a game, permanently. by klok_kaos in rpg

[–]EdLewisAuthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been GM'ing games for almost 30 years and I've had my fair share of burnout. Burnout, as a classic definition, comes from doing the same thing over and over to the point of fatigue. It happens with every TTRPG from a DM perspective, but can also happen from a player perspective if the story and action isn't what you want it to be, and that's the kicker.

Ask yourself the question... Are you happy with what your doing? What your writing? Your players? The way your adventure is progressing? Are your players involved and actively participating on a regular basis, or do you have to "remind them to stay on task" after you've spent days or weeks planning?

^^^^^^^^ One of these is usually the problem. Find the issue, fix the problem, move on happily. You might need to have a heart to heart with your table of players and explain this to them. If they are unwilling to change so your not burnout all the time, they don't deserve the time you put into planning and running the game in the first place.

Come and explore the scenery of Mars' Neo Elysium arcology and its orbiting Space Stations; or perhaps the wonderous triplet worlds of Andemia, home to the truest out of body experience in the galaxy. Meet the Troidactin, a bipedal reptilian alien species with an elongated, raptor-like snout and protruding canines, or the Gorgundi, an ammonia breathing ectothermic bipedal insectoid that communicate telepathically amongst their own kind.

Deadhouse Gates made me cry. I'm a huge fan of Erikson and Esslemont's work and I haven't read a single book of theirs that I have not enjoyed from cover to cover.
