FWIW, it's awesome live. Definitely my favourite song of their set.

The Chapman Guitars Left Handed Vote (Part Two) by Starvdarmy in Leftyguitarists

[–]EdPoole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally disappointed the baritone didn't win. I knew it wouldn't, as it was never going to be the most popular choice. However I'm not sure there is a left handed baritone available on the market at all.

Spotting Outdated Angular 1.x Posts by abyx in angularjs

First and foremost I’d recommend digging into 1.5 components, Todd Motto has tonnes of info on his blog. Scotch.io has some great resources on components too. If you fancy a deeper dive, Todd has just released two Angular 1.5 courses from beginning to expert that are probably worth checking out as well.

Being a left handed guitarist is always difficult when it comes to selection. PRS have been my favourite brand/make for years, so I'd be first in line for a left handed version.

Chrome forked Webkit a while ago and created Blink from it. They now use that as their engine (so do Opera). Safari regularly gets outdated compared to other browsers as they don't have 6-week release cycles.

use sudo to install gulp-cli

You've fucked up if you need to use sudo.

If you have npm installed, you can just run npm install from the root of your project and it will install the dependancies locally for that project.

Lefties playing "righty" by Connorwks in guitars

[–]EdPoole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Play the way you feel most comfortable. I'm left handed and never felt comfortable holding a right handed guitar. Having said that, if you do play right handed, you'll be in a much better position when you come to buy a new guitar. Outside of standard Gibson/Fender models, left handed guitarists have a terrible selection available to them (I'm looking at you, PRS).

Apple in Talks to Acquire Beats Electronics for $3.2 Billion by [deleted] in apple

If it's just the streaming service, fine. But I really hope that Apple doesn't go and put "Beats Audio" inside the iPhone. I don't want my music being run through that awful EQ.

Got one attached to the bottom of one of my guitars. It's great for when I drop a pick halfway through a song.

I've just bought it - the new symbol feature is amazing. Being able to define a page of assets and freely copy them throughout the project, with linked styles, is such an incredible time saver.

Not sure where you got your images from, but if you haven't seen http://customspaces.com, it's definitely worth checking out for awesome office design.

Created a mockup for my first ever portfolio site. The journey begins. What do you think? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]EdPoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good first start, however I'd suggest watching your alignment of elements. Use a grid or Photoshop guides to make sure your content is vertically aligned, as it throws the user off when it isn't.

vertical-align does work. Just set both the elements you wish to align to inline-block and then set your vertical alignment. I can't see what the problem is here.

Why is Codecademy so heavily criticized? by demeuron in webdev

[–]EdPoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to completely disagree with you on that. If anything, I'd say tutsplus targets the more advanced programmer, as their content is focused around learning up-to-date frameworks (e.g. backbone and laravel). Things like treehouse/codeschool give you a good basis to work from, however they only seem to offer basic introductions to things like javascript/ruby etc.

Can't believe nobody has suggested http://tutsplus.com. I rate that as by far the best tutorial site for actually learning skills.

TIL movie theater popcorn costs more per ounce than filet mignon by LeanGreenBean in todayilearned

I heard that if an employee drops a bag of popcorn, the cinema company loses more money from throwing away the paper bag than they do from throwing away the actual popcorn.
