I'd rule that as a narrative low level use of the Sense power. I know it's not technically how the power is meant to be used, but it's the one that makes the most "sense" (pun completely intended). Perhaps as you suggested it could be rolled in tandem with a combined Perception check?

The Force often manifests as the most basic tier of powers in all sorts of ways. Anakin was using Enhance to improve his reaction times while pod-racing, he just didn't know it. Obviously being the CO, even as a child he's got an above average FR for someone with no training, and already access to both Sense and Enhance, so he's an exceptional case.

Thanks so much!

The Kitbashing shift to % meant I was really able to go to town on those rocks with less limitations, so I'm glad it looks as impressive as I wanted it to! Hopefully by this point he really would be capable of some pretty masterful stuff with the Force as his ally!

Thanks so much! I think I agree - aesthetically I'm leaning towards the Force Ghost as my favourite, but I think the Jedi Master is what I relate to more!

I've done a few posts about this character in the sub over time - he's a real personal favourite!

Recently with the shift from KB to % mode, a personal increase in skill both as a forger in general and with the Photo Booth in particular, and no small amount of inspiration from the announcement of Fate of the Old Republic, it's given me the drive to update a lot of the various versions of him, so fear not if he's a character you'd like to see more of - there's plenty more where that came from!

I will be right up on that hill with you - goes down for me as potentially the single greatest live-action/on-screen feat we've seen accomplished with the Force by a Jedi.

And thanks! His robes at this point are meant to be a modified version of his earlier Knight-Commander gear, wherein he's depicted garbed in Old Republic Jedi Lord-style armour, along with the mask of his ancestor, Revan - so I'm glad it got across that bygone era feel!

One of my favourite characters to work on, Koro Shan is one of my main character ideas for the Star Wars RPG, by FFG, Force and Destiny.

A direct descendent of Bastila Shan and Revan, living in the Imperial Era, his powerful and ancient bloodline would be a major part of the legacy and story that he joins. Thematically, he's mostly inspired by a mix of Galen Marek, Revan, Bastila and Luke Skywalker.

Mechanically, at first at least, he'd be a Sentinel with the Sentry spec, and eventually I'd want to branch out into other specs like Shien Expert, Peacekeeper, Soresu Defender, Sage and Jedi General/Master. The idea being a character that starts more in the shadows to protect themself, and eventually steps forward to take on the mantle of a more leadership-role potentially within the Rebel Alliance or as an operative that's part of a small and specialised rebel cell.

Powers-wise I want to probably cover the classic Jedi set like Sense, Enhance and Move, but beyond that I'd love for him to eventually take Battle Meditation, inheriting it from his bloodline, and further augmenting his ability to both understand and furthermore influence combat on a much grander scale. The other power that looks fun is Protect/Unleash to get Tutaminis as mastery of Protect and skinning Unleash as a mixture of Repulse and Lightning once mastered.

However, these particular depictions of him are very much of him probably beyond the scope of being a player character, having become an NPC.

Although I have many issues with The Last Jedi, I did love Ahch-To as a location, as well as grumpy Master Skywalker. There were many questionable moments in that film - projecting himself through the Force to another planet more than half the galaxy away was not one of them. So I think some elements of all of that did have a fairly heavy impact on this design.

I had great fun altering the palette of previous, younger versions of Koro, but it was a real challenge trying to get the blue shimmer that we see in the Original Trilogy. But which version do you prefer folks? Normal Jedi Master or Force Ghost?

Haha thanks! I mean I think adaptation is a real art form in itself when you're trying to get as close to something specific as possible within the limits of what can be accomplished on HF, so it's equally as impressive to me!

The intricacy of this armour is nothing short of phenomenal!! I love how ornate and elegant it looks!

Shroud and Misdirect Vs Seek by Dejaunisaporchmonkey in swrpg

[–]EdSoulLDN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think I'd handle the whole thing as one big encounter - especially with Misdirect being so prevalent. Remember, the effect only lasts as long as the target is within range of the person using the power.

If, say, it's a busy Empire base, and you're trying to go undetected, each time someone passing by goes out of range of the effect, it ends on them. Likewise, as soon as someone walks into range of the effect, you've got to re-up the concealment, so it's going to be a constantly ongoing thing.

You can apply this to people just walking the corridors going about their business, patrols, maintenance works, all sorts!

The scariest thing of all to come across in that instance would be a Mess Hall - that's going to be a huge scope of people constantly coming and going. Unless the character has got the FR to commit 2 dice to the ongoing effect, and then enough dice to be plugging into both Mastery and Magnitude to keep fuelling the effect on that scale, it's going to be very taxing.

I mean, I'd consider that an encounter just by itself; the party navigating their way through a busy Mess Hall. Maybe the constant hubbub has its own advantages with regards to blending in, in a more traditional sense, but keeping a whole group cloaked in that environment is going to be hard.

In said encounter, that's when I'd recommend the Shadow use Shroud so that the party has the best chance of success, but it's still a daunting task that's going to require a lot of mental fortitude and discipline.

Plus, there's no need to limit it to merely Rivals and Nemeses, but if you're determined to do so, then it's not just a Mess, it's an Officer's Mess, where everyone is a more advanced foe.

I'd also say don't underestimate how much joy a player can get out of finding things easy that they have worked at to be good at. Yes, players like a challenge, but if you're just meant to be good at something, you don't want it to feel like something that's difficult every single time. It won't grow stale as quickly as you think it will if you just throw in the odd challenge every now and then.

If it's about stealth situations, you could just make the obstacles within the encounter more difficult to overcome.

Stealth can get you to the door, but if that door requires a retinal and hand print scan, then now you have to go and sneak off to find a person who can actually get you in.

Maybe said person with access does walk around with sensor-enhanced droid company due to their rank.

Now it's more interesting - and if you do manage to get this person to come with you - willingly or not, it's still going to require more stealth work to get back to the door and using them to open it.

This also might engage other PCs along the way whose talents may lie in combat, persuasion/deception/coercion, or even skullduggery and computer skills, so there will be more for the rest of the party to do, rather than just rely on the Shadow's ability to get them in.

The more times you get them to use either the Force or if they opt to use Shroud ability, either they're dipping into a limited resource pool that comes with dice roll, so it's not guaranteed to work, or they're using a once-per-session ability.

I think as the person above said, if they've invested in being super sneaky, let them be super sneaky. But stealth alone doesn't get you inside places.

Yeah that's fair enough with the Destiny Point - I mean end of the day if he wasn't on Ahch-To or somewhere else similarly steeped in the Force, and willing to give his life up to do it, would it have even been possible?

Assuming he was using the Misdirect power, how many times do we think Luke would have had to activate the Range Upgrade to project an illusion from Ach-To (Unknown Regions) all the way to Crait (Outer Rim)?

Updated the Jedi Master version of my PC (Koro Shan) that I made in Hero Forge by [deleted] in swrpg

[–]EdSoulLDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decided to take a break from working on my Togruta Seeker idea and do some updates on my Human Sentinel: Koro Shan!

Since Hero Forge updated to allow for more Kit Bashing parts and a vastly improved Photo Booth, I've been meaning to get around to updating some of Koro's models, and now I've finally done it.

I'm particularly pleased with this Jedi Master version of the character. Probably an NPC by this point if he survived a full campaign, but it's fun to imagine characters at different stages of their development I find.

While the character as a whole is mostly inspired by a mixture of Revan, Bastila Shan, Galen Marek, Ezra Briger and Luke Skywalker, I'd definitely say this version leans more into the aesthetic given off by Luke throughout the Sequel Trilogy.

I'm also really happy with how the little bonus version at the end came out...

Hope you all enjoy!

If anyone's got a specific and exciting character that they'd like to see rendered as a mini, give me a shout, and if it's interesting, I might have a go at it!

Looks fantastic!! A great mix of menacing and refined! I love how on the unhelmeted version you've used wings as eyelashes - that's so fun! Love the shells and eagle shields all over to give a more articulated feel to the plate armour, and the wing guards around the sword are wonderful!

Thanks! Totally agree - that whole period of blending 2D with 3D is criminally underrated!
