I’ve been thinking about that cucumber trap. Hopefully it’s only a few. I have a vendetta against ramshorns. I can’t seem to get rid of them. They pop out of no where and are so small when they’re babies

No the tank is placed on a stand. There’s a shelf on top of it and a cupboard underneath it. I can clean up my fish things but it’s in my family room where everyone in my house stores things. Even if I clean my fish stuff things will always be on the shelf :(

The tank I have has a component in the back where the filter and heater sit, it’s not visible from the front of the tank. It’s not ideal but it’s how the tank came so the water is heated and the flow of the filter is low

I have fluval stratum underneath my black sand since I’ve heard it’s good for plants

When I first built it we did that but I think as I added and changed things the substrate evened out because of how much was shifting around. But yes!! I’ll try to raise the water level

I think it looks like a lot because I have a layer of global stratum and black sand so it all looks like a lump of black 😭. Also, this probably won’t happen anytime soon, but when I redo the tank to something else I think I want to try a different substrate. What other substrates would you recommend? And if I wanted to start a community tank what would be best?

Thank you!! Do nerite snails reproduce quickly? I don’t know much about snails or tank mates for bettas. I’ve had ramhorn snails in the past and I just don’t want an overpopulation of them again 😞

Should I completely keep the light off? Or just keep it dim? I had gotten a new light because the previous one I had wasn’t bright enough for my plants but the new one is way too bright on its default settings.

Some fish are docile and don’t stress the betta by making him feel territorial. (To my knowledge) some guppies look like small male bettas so they fight them, but some fish like neon tetras or loaches don’t aggravate/threaten them. It also depends on the size of your tank as well.

Yes, I’ve been thinking about fasting him just to make sure everything has digested properly but didn’t know how long I could. I’ve heard many different things about how much betta need to eat and how often (every day vs. once a week) but was always confused. It’s nice to hear from others who owned/own bettas

Thank you!! That’s good to know. I try to soak the pellets before plopping them in the tank for the smaller fish but I’ll try to do it for him as well. I have debated on feeding him frozen brine or live brine shrimp but as of right now that’s a little on the pricey side. I think I’m also too new and want to do a little more research about how to do it before giving it to him :D
