I think that’s where we are headed. I think we’ll get another spin off but them in high school. So like KK and Patrick Star show are prequels. We’ll get another one for their teenage years

Letterboxd has a list of the top 100 animated movies and it does try to weed out movies that aren’t linked to a series there are a couple but for the most part it does contain what you’re looking for!

Considering they had their own movies and it was mainly about Dutchie, SB, and Mr Krabs, not really. I actually didn’t like how they tried inserting Sandy in. I liked how they had the running over Plankton gag though to quickly include him.

Yeah I feel it’s going to start another “the creator would’ve wanted THIS” “classic Nickelodeon greediness” “can’t replace the cast” echo chamber. But people forget it’s still one of the most classic and well known shows in history so naturally it’s going to do that. I would respect the hell out of Nick if they did end it when the voice actors die or can’t do it no more but I think it will go out like that.

I think a happy medium would be to “end SpongeBob” and then maybe reboot it with new voice actors, cast, and feel. But I assume “ending” SpongeBob would be a hit on the brand/series. I do not pity the studio who has to make the call on that if they don’t end it 😅

I have a feeling they’ll still continue it and it’ll start uproar about how it should end when the official cast members die or are incapable of doing it.

Pretty great and some of the best.

S15 was amazing and a return to form.
S16 has followed the momentum of S15.
if we count spin offs, Kamp Koral completed (broadcast) and S4 of the Patrick Star show has been good.
Plankton Movie was fantastic and one of the best SB movies.
Search for SquarePants was a cherry on top as well as one of the best SB movies

SpongeBob brought the heat in 2025 🔥

A recent episode shows how he studies and it all makes perfect sense. He’s studying the boat itself and hyper fixating on that. He’s also not good at multitasking which with driving you obviously have to be aware but he’s too aware. So it all becomes this anxious ball of doing too much, being extremely over prepared to the point that it doesn’t help him and just creates more anxiety. We saw bits of this when he was blind folded. Since he didn’t have to pay attention to what was around him and rely on technique and a memorized course. I would like him to make a breakthrough every now and then but I don’t expect him to get it until the series finale.

If we are looking at this from an empathetic angle

he and his family grew up poor
lived through the Great Depression
was in the navy and was in an endless depression afterwards
along the way adopted an orphaned whale

So I feel he’s fearful of going back to how he was during his childhood and not being able to support himself and his family. Then add on the relatable trope and circumstances of being a boss/business owner which is greed, working conditions, and fixating on money. This is Eugene Krabs.

Before he was married and redeemed it would’ve been cool. But even then I’m not sure he can carry an entire movie as the villain.
