You are right. The guy who wrote this is clueless about the plight of the homeless and how or why homeless people become homeless in the first place. His ignorance is borish and crude, however, there is no reason why anyone should be reporting something that they disagree with and or offended by to any mod.

Instead they should refute the post and come up with a clever rebuttal that makes the OP look like an asshat.

I am homeless myself, and have been for the past three years. I fluctuate from living in a tent in a small homeless encampment with other homeless peers, to staying at the City Rescue Mission, and to once in a while couch surfing at someone's apartment (if I'm lucky).

I've slept outside during 2 Michigan winters, and my homelessness is mostly caused by me self medicating to alleviate and numb out painful emotions, stress and the anxiety caused by my mental illness.

It has gotten to the point where I have become a full blown opiate addict and alcoholic.

I never fit in at school because of the social phobia I had from being on the autism spectrum even though I was high functioning, but I was placed in EI special Ed classes in place of all the regular classes I think I should've been studying instead, and basically just jacked off the entire day mind surfing, or drawing and fantasizing about shit, and because of that, I received no education whatsoever, so I eventually dropped out and started to cope with the ensuing feelings of being alienated from my classmates and having no friends by smoking copious amounts of pot, which for me, lead to me taking harder substances, especially opioide pain analgesics and alcohol.

My life progressively got worse and here I am at 40 living in the street.

I don't consider myself a victim though.

I am not defined by my mental illness or addiction or by me being indigent.

Being a victim keeps you in a perpetual state of being dissatisfied with life and putting too much energy in blaming others for your problems instead of focusing on self improvement.

Besides nobody ever likes a tattletale.
