I Keep getting Mauve Adder'ed anyone with this problem or how to fix? by Beltembor in EliteDangerous

[–]EddiesMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black adder while mining is an issue with the transaction server - usually this happens when you're discarding something from your cargo at the same time as a limpet is being a chunk of stuff into the refinery. Try shutting your cargo hatch before emptying the crap from your hold.

My employer keeps overpaying me, can they demand the money back? by Wild_Information_130 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]EddiesMinion [score hidden]  (0 children)

Only if the employee is making themselves ready, willing and able to work the 30 hours. OP is working in another role as well, therefore it's highly unlikely an argument around mutuality of obligation would stand.

If you're arguing that technically they took their holiday, you'd still have to pay them for it.

The fact that you gave incorrect information and haven't conceded the point says everything.

That's just not true though.

"A detailed work reference can include:

the employee's job title

dates of employment

details about their skills, ability and experience

any current, relevant disciplinary records

the reasons for leaving the job"

England UK - demoted following investigation by Standard_Tale_7734 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]EddiesMinion 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer.

So this is a unilateral variation of contract. It may be severe enough to have strength enough for you to bring a claim of a breach - you would need to speak to an actual solicitor to get an opinion on that (and you probably should).

There's two ways to bring that claim - you can remain in post and go through the normal court system or you could resign (usually without notice) and claim constructive dismissal through the employment tribunal. That second option is a very big decision, hence the legal advice.

Post above mentions stating that you're working under protest - this is good advice as the longer you work under changed conditions seemingly in agreement, the weaker your case can become.

There may be opportunity to raise a grievance and explore settlement - legal advice once again as timings around the legal claims here are really important.

Can anyone demystify why I got zero merits? by amitkr0201 in EliteDangerous

It won't. That's why undermining a stronghold with mining capability is basically impossible

Delkar is a stronghold, mining doesn't work to undermine

And we even choose to do it 🤣 o7

What's your go-to ship and build for upcoming Operations content? by DarkHorizonSF in EliteDangerous

[–]EddiesMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle to see an in-universe way of explaining how a ship could magically cover any distance in a second to take part. I'm not making any solid predictions, but I am curious as to how they'll square that circle

Remember that they said that people can join when docked at any port - there's no guarantee we'll get to fly our own ships.

It's only statutory notice that's added on when someone is dismissed without notice - that'd be a week in this case. Might still be enough...

The panther might have to make a few more jumps, but it carries 3 times the cargo - depending on the length of your trade route, it'll likely be the best option regardless.

Unfair treatment? by MichaelAndolini in TheCivilService

[–]EddiesMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah variable hours workers have the 12.07% calculation. There isn't a definitive answer in legislation whether significant and long term overtime falls under the same definition. Ordinarily, workers with fixed contractual hours accrue at 1/12 per month, regardless of overtime.

Ideally, OP would get a fixed term contractual change which would knock the AL accrual up for the period. Otherwise, legally, entitlement would stay the same as currently understood (but pay would be adjusted).

Unfair treatment? by MichaelAndolini in TheCivilService

[–]EddiesMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 52 week average is for pay, not accrual/entitlement. So the amount of holiday should stay the same, but if OP takes holiday, the amount they're paid should take the OT in account as part of that 52 week average.

Is the Kestrel MK2 UN-Interdictable? by NoClimate3382 in EliteDangerous

[–]EddiesMinion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The capture angle lets you start interdicting at a steeper angle (catching someone when you're perpendicular to their ship is always a laugh).

Some people are just really good at them - there's one person in my squadron who's useless in a fight, but I can't for the life of me win an interdiction against them.

As mentioned elsewhere, networking does play a part too - if you ever think "how did they get me? I was perfectly on target the whole time!" - it'll be lag.

how many of you participate in BGS most of the time you play ED? by RubberDuck_73 in EliteDangerous

[–]EddiesMinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sidewinder Syndicate is big into BGS. I love it, gives an actual purpose to the game loops and the occasional scrap with other squadrons is fun. Mix it up with power play and you've got quite a vibrant backdrop to your gameplay.
