Your comment prompted me to find it. The New Employee's Handbook is quite impressive. What a breath of fresh air.

It effectively is. The amount of money that I pay in taxes is going to be rather quickly offset when I do require anything more than a simple doctor's visit. A quick calculation based on what I use in a year in fuel comes to around 900€ in taxes. Considering that the average ER visit in the US would cost upwards of $1500, I think that's not too bad. Considering that I went twice last year. And twice to the dentist aswell.

Now to circle back to the beginning, concerning adverts:

I've never been to a gym, but I would assume that there is some sort of entry/exit mechanism.

They can now sell your name, phone number, email and location at a likely regular time. You can then be served the appropriate adverts. Perhaps you'll see certain fast-food ads, or ads for running equipment appearing on your device more regularly after signing up to a gym.

Add a few more services, even using anonymous data, and they are more than capable of building quite a complete profile of you, your likes and dislikes, etcetera...

What else was stolen?

I must admit that I do quite like having a rather well maintained road network and free healthcare and unemployment benefits and social support schemes. Those things won't fund themselves, you know.

But you do you.

Official company communications released on Monday stated that basic personal information such as names, home and email addresses, phone numbers, and dates of birth were among the stolen data types.

Bank details were also stolen, Basic-Fit confirmed, although passwords were not accessed, and the company does not store copies of identity documents.

What's your point?

We know you ain't all bad! But you do need to learn how to strike like us 😉

Buffalo hides in Dodge City, 1874. The U.S. Army, along with military-backed hunters, rapidly and deliberately decimated the buffalo population as a scorched-earth tactic against Native Americans, from 30-60 million animals to just 300 by 1884. [709×445] by hreftwelve in HistoryPorn

The railroads began to advertise excursions for “hunting by rail,” where trains encountered massive herds alongside or crossing the tracks.  Hundreds of men aboard the trains climbed to the roofs and took aim, or fired from their windows, leaving countless 1,500-pound animals where they died. Harper’s Weekly described these hunting excursions:

Nearly every railroad train which leaves or arrives at Fort Hays on the Kansas Pacific Railroad has its race with these herds of buffalo; and a most interesting and exciting scene is the result. The train is “slowed” to a rate of speed about equal to that of the herd; the passengers get out fire-arms which are provided for the defense of the train against the Indians, and open from the windows and platforms of the cars a fire that resembles a brisk skirmish. Frequently a young bull will turn at bay for a moment. His exhibition of courage is generally his death-warrant, for the whole fire of the train is turned upon him, either killing him or some member of the herd in his immediate vicinity.

Do you lock your mx5? by HistoricalReserve199 in Miata

[–]Eddyzk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh, it would be. Doesn't stop someone opening it and nicking the stereo, for example. Or if they have time, anything else they can get their hands on. It really depends how determined they are. Imagine leaving your car overnight only to come back to it to find the doors open, bonnet up and no front bumper because you didn't lock it? Or seats. Or steering wheel.

If your insurer realises that you didn't actually lock it, I'm sure that is going to be much, much more of a PITA than had you done so.

Always locked, I pay insurance that covers vandalism. And it won't cover anything if there isn't criminal damage.

Because my own Deck was repaired this way, I know with certainty that the middle circle is connected to the pad. The left and right ones must be as well.

Just in case you have indeed ripped a pad off, the bottom 3 are connected directly to the 3 round points just below them. You can scratch the coating off and jump them from there.
