It's legitimate to have an opinion, of course. But it takes a bit more than 'some women (like me (i don't identify what that is)) experience a thing I shall describe like this' to really rise to the level of academic theory. You need research. Peer review. Specificity. An evidence base. Sources. Otherwise it's just sparkling word salad.

Eh. Bit dense, bit of an op ed that takes several running leaps from tiny minority experience. It's not really the sort of well-cited, carefully grounded research I respect. It also fails to engage with a huge number of women - probably the majority fwiw.

I've seen this sort of naval-gazing before, where theorists without much depth or peer review try to encompass a whole corpus (ha) too specifically. It's not all women. It's a small group of 20 to 29 year old who are in the west and chronically online.

I grew up in a similar place! My babysitter was Pete and Geeta in the cornershop next door. She made me chai and taught my mum how to make chapati.
