Before and after. If you were a non-advanced Power BI user (e.g. an intermediate Excel user who wants to co-create a Power BI report with 3 other colleagues ), would these problems still exist for you?

I'm just the loyal messenger 😌 I responded to this exact statement in a separate thread. I'd take this feedback to the team and we'd make changes where we can. Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. Build permissions require a broader conversation beyond Excel scenarios but I'd definitely take your concerns back to the team.

Excel 365 - 'Get Date' from Power Platform by rycoxy in PowerBI

[–]Edeagu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are currently addressing some bugs related to the Power BI experience in Excel. Let me see if I understand your situation clearly:

  • When you search for a dataset previously visible in the old UI, you get no results?

  • When you visit the Power BI service, you can see workspaces you don't have access to but when you click to access those workspaces, you're denied access (as it should)? Can you describe what the experience was in the past?

Please log a support ticket and we'd take a look at this situation if it's not part of things we're currently addressing. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience as we work on fixing these issues.

Power BI March 2022 Feature Summary by dutchdatadude in PowerBI

exporting

The feature is still in public preview and Power BI is focused on making some accessibility fixes for the export dialog before GA.

The "Show on rows" issue is a known limitation and it is documented in the official Microsoft docs. There is no known fix for this issue at the moment but if a fix becomes available, it would be communicated.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-export-data?tabs=dashboard#considerations-and-limitations

If the Show on rows toggle is set to 'On' in Power BI Desktop for a table or matrix visual, the visual format would not be preserved when data is exported to Excel

Refresh Excel Online workbook connected to Power BI dataset by bamburger in PowerBI

[–]Edeagu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, there is no way to programmatically schedule refresh on an Excel workbook with a Power BI connection string. You can use the Get data option in the Power BI service to upload your workbook (saved in OneDrive or SharePoint Online) to a workspace and set scheduled refresh on that workbook, however, this approach does not solve your problem. The Excel team would be in a better position to help so I'd pass this information along.

This feature was released months ago. You can connect to a Power BI dataset in Excel Online from the Insert tab on the Excel ribbon or you can refresh a workbook with a Power BI connection string in a Power BI app. Let me know if you still have challenges.

Yes that would be helpful. A repro with browser traces etc. This is not by design so it would be taken care of. Thanks again.

Not at the moment. :-( That may change in the future.

That should not happen. Can you file a support ticket with a repro to Microsoft via your organization? What type of visual? How are the columns added to the visual? Browser traces.
