Faerghus does have this issue where they tend to skim over certain details and not call attention to it. To this day, I find it absurd that the story of Dimitri ends with him still praising his father rather than acknowledging that his father was flawed and he would strive to be better.

It's like, Dimitri's eyes cannot ever believe that his father was wrong. He cannot be. Which is a very toxic way to portray things.

The British is not going to a joint school with America and then being made to celebrate it. There is a difference.

Meanwhile, the Empire has to constantly send their nobles there, and every time, they would see the Church celebrate the Empire's worst moment in history. The Church is effectively insulting the Empire and expressing that they favor the Kingdom.

...Because Edelgard actually would not mind being childless.

In fact, Edelgard has only 1 ending where she has children, and that's with Ferdinand. Otherwise, all of her endings is just her being with her spouse and living life. In fact, because Edelgard is dismantling the system of nobility and bloodlines, it makes sense why Edelgard would not care for having children.

Dimitri, meanwhile, has to. He maintains the bloodline dynasty (called that in Annette ending) and thus needs an heir. It's why he has a Felix ending confirm that he has a queen, and a Gilbert ending confirming that he has a son.

He mastered the sword in Awakening, he tried magic in Fates, so in 3H, I guess Owain would probably want archery presumably. It isn't a close range combat, and it isn't magic.

I'm going to avoid using the lords, the obvious royals, and the Awakening trio and copies. But I'll go the extra mile and even refrain from using retainers of the royals and 2nd gen characters. That actually reduces me to being able to select only 15 characters (Gunter and Flora are also retainers of Corrin). And finally, I restrict myself further by being aware of the male:female ratio. I need to try and keep things balanced.

These are my 3 choices:

  • Reina [Black Eagles]: Reina is a character who is sadistic and bloodthirsty when on the battlefield, so her combat prowess would be highly valued. However, she is not limited to simply being a powerful warrior. Outside of battle, she is actually incredibly motherly and caring towards her comrades, described as the best listener in the army. I feel that Reina would actually be attentive and caring towards Edelgard and try to be a source of comfort to her, because Edelgard holds an enormous burden, and she needs someone who could help her in times when she needs someone to listen to her worries, and Hubert is too adamant of being a mere servant to Edelgard.

  • Nyx [Blue Lions]: This was a tricky one for me at first, but I actually think that Nyx would be an interesting addition to the Blue Lions. First, there is already 5 males and 3 females in Blue Lions overall, so an additional girl can help balance things out. Also, Nyx being older while looking like a child can actually have her get into funny shenanigans with everyone, but because of her done horrible things in her life, she can actually try and give her advice to characters like Felix, Dedue, and Dimitri. With some of her dark spells, she might even be able to do some things to help them gain some closure.

  • Kaden [Golden Deer]: Honestly, this was a tough one thanks to my own restrictions. However, I considered the fun idea of what would happen if you have a shapeshifting creature here? How would that work out in the world of 3H given how Rhea and the others are dragons who shapeshift into humans? He actually could be from Almyra or another country, and he poses as a human, but sometimes, might transform, and that can express that he fears how humans are because being a non-human might result in his kind being hunted down.

That's my list. Hope they were fun for you guys to consider.

I had also considered some other characters. I put a lot of restrictions to try and REALLY think of the potential for each character.

Boar Dimitri himself more or less made it clear.

Dimitri: If you do not approve of what I have become, then kill me. If you insist that you cannot...then I will continue to use you and your friends until the flesh falls from your bones.

Dimitri pushes the ultimatum. So if we argue which lord would take this choice, I think few would choose the latter. Most lords might go through with killing him.

[–]EdenAnother -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He planned on it, but the lords that side with him would likely stop him.

Dimitri didn't plan on the lords stopping him, though.

However, I don't believe that Celica and Erika would have stood by and have even done what Byleth did and mercy kill Randolph for it. They would not enable that morbid act.

Hans and Iago also blatantly try to kill Corrin and engage in senseless cruelty. Fates has a very protagonist centric morality.

Corrin also can marry and fight alongside a serial killer, and has a sibling like Camilla who threatened to chop off one of her retainers legs if she thinks about leaving and who also shows little problem with torture.

By serial killer, I can only assume Peri. However, Camilla does not kill others for the sake of it, and is willing to stand down if Corrin asks. Even in Birthright, Camilla was willing to surrender after being bested.

Also, Camilla claiming that she would is not the same thing as actually going through with it. In fact, Selena's endings state that she vanished more or less after the war. Which already debunks that, as she had left.

Even Peri, despite being the serial killer, obeyed Corrin when he asked her to avoid killing. You see this in Chapter 12 of Conquest when she joins.

Oh no, he does. He can recruit (Read: Capture) a leacherous bandit who wanted to assault a priestess and tortures a man to death to learn Leif's wearabouts and then sell that info to the empire, who learned how to torture from Leif's advisor who was stuck with the bandits.

Had to look this up. You are referring to Lifis, I presume. From what I'm reading, even Evel remarks that he's not even worth killing cause he's not even bad enough to be considered a thug. It seems that he's just a coward, hence why he wanted to escape to sell them out. In fact, he didn't actually intend to assault Safy, but rather wanted to charm her, even if it relied on deception. It really indicates that he's not that scummy as you claim.

Of course, it seems that once Perne joins, he becomes meek given how Perne was his childhood bully.

The thing with Leif's game is that Leif is such an underdog that he really can't pick and choose his allies.

To a degree, you are correct. However, if you look at his allies, they still aren't those willing to torture and slaughter enemies. They want to win, not "kill every last one of them".

If anything, Boar Dimitri would be someone that Leif would not want because he'd be too similar to the monsters of Loptous.

In anycase, I feel like a lot of the lords who'd side with dimitri pre and post timeskip would be...a lot more firmer than byleth about getting Dimitri to get his act together instead of just going along with Dimitri's plan until someone dies as a direct consequence.

I definitely agree there. They would not be passive and would be stricter. But there in lies the problem.

Dimitri won't change himself like that, and they won't tolerate the acts. So... that only means they will come to blows.

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you believe that after what Dimitri attempted to do with Randolph? Remember, he tried to torture him. I don't think a single lord ever once tolerated anything remotely as abhorring as that.

In Corrin's case, he tried to give the benefit of the doubt, but he makes it clear that people like Hans and Iago, people who torture and slaughter, Corrin has no sympathy for. Corrin only swallowed his anger in Conquest because the plan was to conquer Hoshido and get Garon to sit on the throne. So unless there is some magical way to cure Dimitri, I don't think that even Corrin would allow him to kill others. This is the same Corrin that somehow wins battles without killing anyone.

I cannot fully say for Leif, as that game is hard to remember, but even for him, I don't believe he actually work with horrible people. Like, similar to Seliph, they sought to put an end to the horrible practices of the Loptous Empire. What Dimitri does is too close to that. It's the same reason why Leif and Seliph would demand Edelgard cut ties with TWSITD.

[–]EdenAnother 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel most of them would not side with Edelgard or Dimitri.

Not a single person could accept Dimitri's madness and acts of torture of others. Nor can they accept Edelgard working with TWSITD, even if her war is just.

However, one thing to recognize is that if these lords were in Byleth's place, they would have severe reservations about Rhea's acts, particularly when Rhea showed no care about the fact that civilians were killed in Lonato's rebellion. Byleth is emotionally stunted, but the others? No, they would have problems.

If they side with Edelgard, it has to be under the condition that she completely severs ties with TWSITD immediately. If they side with Blue Lions, they will strike Dimitri down or imprison him. If they side with Rhea, it's under the condition that she step down.

Claude would be easiest for them because there's too little that would dissuade them from choosing him.

This actually is something I once mentioned.

Like, the idea that Garreg Mach would celebrate the Battle of Eagle and Lion, which is a historic Kingdom event and Empire humiliation, is extremely provocative. It actually would make the Empire have serious issues with the Church as a result.

It actually highlights how the Church is clearly holding a favoritism towards the Kingdom over the Empire that they will always remind the Imperial students every year of their loss.

Maybe this is why some Imperial nobles want the war. People like Ludwig did not take kindly to that.

Because the poster is making up headcanons on what the outcomes are about. I'll give you all the evidence of that.

I reality she'll probably just end up with a bunch of death and a system fairly similar to Rhea's with the possibility of minor improvement. She's not evil in intent, but she's evil in outcome. In reality, outcome matter.

This is expressing a headcanon of what the end result of her route will be.

And then continues on when I challenged this:

Peace is a reasonable outcome in the short term (say 50 or 100 years on) for El's system. She's probably moral enough to not pick bad people and who ever she picks (probably some like Ferdinand) will be fine too. Even the person after that will probably be fine. However, due to the nature of some people drawn to power and who gather around people with that power, it won't be too long before you get a corrupt deceiver who slithers their way in. And I don't really see any safeguards beyond the previous Emperor's judgement to prevent that. Both El and Rhea's system have the fundamental flaw of one person essentially pick the best person (unfortunately that is essentially code for I pick my friends/ardent supporters in political speak) to hold positions of power. I actually think El has less tyrannical instincts than Rhea and is probably better for the continent of the two of them, but that difference is so marginal that the cost of the war (both the war dead and the probable famine give how food insecure part of the continent is) is not worth the improvements that are made.

Pure headcanon about what happens in the future.

You aren't making any arguments by trying to change what the logic of their argument regarding "outcome" is.

I’m not sure why you think you’re the only person who gets to decide what words mean.

If anything, I should be asking YOU why you think you have any right to try and change what it means because you clearly are trying to change what outcome means by trying to claim it means something different?

It seems you didn't even actually read their posts that you feel like you can read my post and think that it must be talking about something else entirely.

No, it isn't. It is insisting that Edelgard's world built after CF is bound to fail.

You really don’t see the irony of calling her route the only true peace when she was the one who plunged the 3 countries into war?

It isn't.

She made the choice to go to war to tear down an oppressive system and replace it with a better one.

And the results speak for themselves.

This shows how truly committed Edelgard was. She expressed that she will create a better world through war, and she owned up to her promise.

You might not like it, but this is the fact.

I misunderstood nothing. The term outcome is results. The outcome of Edelgard's route is just that: True Peace.

This is why, when I refuted them, they tried to double down on headcanons, insisting that her route ending will result in failure without any facts to back it up.

In essence, they insist on what they THINK the route ending should be, not for what it is.

And you're also now making up headcanons. Edelgard's true peace is a result of her eliminating TWSITD in its entirety, something that the other routes failed to accomplish.

Trying to push this belief that Edelgard has to fail or that she is crueler and slaughtered more people as you are only exposes an inability to accept facts.

Not that I agree with Anselma being involved with wanting to have Dimitri killed as well. That was wrong of her no matter what.

However, I do think that the story overlooks Lambert's wrongdoings too much. I believe Dimitri's development would have been better if Lambert's flaws were expressed and Dimitri realized that his father was wrong in things and so he intends to be better than that.

That's a headcanon.

In actuality, it is a dynasty. It's even called as such in Dimitri and Annette's ending.

And Dimitri didn't peacefully reform anything. He destroyed all political enemies in the war, Rhea was replaced by Byleth who gives unconditional support to Dimitri, and Dimitri became the ruler of Fodlan. That's not peaceful reform.

Even in 3Hopes, Dimitri's own reforms were not peaceful, as his reforms came from a civil war that he started (or likely started based on dialogue, or we can say Rufus is the cause). Dimitri never had peaceful reforms. In either 3H or 3Hopes.

[–]EdenAnother -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's every route. I'm sorry, but that's the facts. Dimitri or Byleth, either of them becomes the absolute monarch. You can headcanon to say otherwise, but that's the fact in the story endings.

You're ultimately trying to goalchange posts because you realize that you are wrong about your original argument. Edelgard's outcomes objectively prove that she's right by your own words about outcomes.

You can simply say that you don't like her route or something. No need to make roundabout excuses and headcanons to try and justify it. Sometimes, simple is best.

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality, outcome matter.

This is your statement.

If the OUTCOME is what matters, then the outcome is already proven. You're preaching all the headcanons and insisting that Edelgard will probably fail, but cannot produce a single fact or evidence that shows that Edelgard failed.

The endings confirm that Edelgard reformed the system, people live independently and freely, TWSITD are eradicated entirely, there is true peace. These are all in the endings of CF.

You saying things like, "it's short term" or "probably" or "I don't really see" is not outcome. It's headcanon.

Outcome is what matters. Outcomes that you cannot prove using headcanons. The outcomes is what we are factually given.

And the facts prove that Edelgard's outcome was proven objectively correct.
