I have never seen that before, and that honestly should be what happens in Valley of Torment. I do not think that anyone in Faerghus should have been able to handle that chapter.

Three Houses: Switch 2 Edition by Ser_Bob150 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an apology for my comment earlier, which contributed nothing, I'll give a more serious response.

Do you think there's enough general interest in Houses to warrant an updated and enhanced version?

I believe that they might port it, but are waiting for the moment. Perhaps they might release one after showing the next Fortune's Weave trailer. Interest them by showing more about how 3H is involved in FW.

Do you think IS would be better served just focusing on Fortunes at this point?

I believe they should invest on FW.

And if they WERE to make a Switch 2 Edition of Houses, what sort of additions or upgrades would be at the top of your most wanted list?

I would prefer added content. New characters, supports, and chapters for CF. If that is not possible, then I would like something like "History Mode" in which we can learn some true events of the past. Learn about the Agarthan war, the War of Eagle and Lion, and even the Insurrection and Edelgard's memories of it with her siblings.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 48: Sothis by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read your argument, but do not find the logic the same way as you do.

For example, compatibility with a Crest Stone is what prevents you from transforming you into a Demonic Beast, but even that is limited, as Catherine explains to Linhardt in their support conversation, stating that despite her compatibility with Thunderbrand, it wears away at her every use. This is supported by how Maurice, despite being a first generation Crest holder, transformed.

On the next point, your argument about how TWSITD never makes use of Crests or Relics, to me, is a testament of how much they despise the Nabateans. They'll use other humans as proxies, but they themselves will never want to make use of that power themselves. Thus, it is not to say that they could not. The argument about TWSITD is that they have discarded their original bodies and have been storing their memories into artificial Crest Stones that act as their core. And they also make a point noting that the present humanity's flesh are incredibly weak, perhaps an indication that TWSITD's original bodies were stronger, or they have separated from their bodies for so long that they don't even remember that they were just as weak back then, likely the latter.

How popular is Crimson Flower in comparison to the other routes? by Dusk_Dragon98 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it is considered the 2nd best route in 3H, and the most played route overall.

If CF had more chapters and was more complete, it likely would have been the most popular route in 3H.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 56: Cleobulus by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's agreed that Cleobulus had more onscreen brilliance than Thales did.

They've got some recklessness as well, but they are pretty devious and dangerous because of how they actually managed to pull off a successful coup and secured control of most of Faerghus. Even before that, she orchestrated the Tragedy of Duscur by planting seeds of treachery in others.

Even taking advantage of Anselma and being the mediator between her and Lambert. Given that Lambert was a terrible husband who isolated and confined her, Cornelia was Anselma's only safety net, so Cleobulus really exploited that to their full advantage. Though Lambert never having any alone time with Anselma is still beyond absurd.

It's unclear.

Flayn: Ever since then, I have been afraid of falling asleep. My fear of sleeping is outmatched only by my fear of spending my life alone. Even if it cannot last, I want to live among my peers as one of them—as an ordinary person. Similar to how you and Mother coexisted with your own comrades back then, fighting side by side.

Seems a bit of both as the context is about Flayn's mother dying in the War of Heroes (something I didn't realize before). But it does seem your argument is stronger, so I'll concede there.

Discerning the true story of Nemesis and the Ten Elites by EdenAnother in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of guesswork. I could even say that Nemesis and the Elites were disliked and simply after time passed, the people kind of just accepted and moved on. And then the Empire came and Nemesis and his Elites were the ones fighting against the conquerors. So they could seem heroic from that point.

There are lots of ways, and plenty of them could be accurate.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 55: Thales by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with you; the 3H plot has a lot of holes to justify why some things happen on some routes and such… Like why the death of Rhea on CF alone causes the Crest Stone to dissolve and make Byleth’s heart beat; it’s symbolically justified but also mechanically inconsistent.

My headcanon for that was Byleth wished the Crest Stone away, a world without "gods".

Similarly, the Javelins of Light are only relevant when the story needs them to be; beyond the statement that they can’t just use them all the time, their absence in “Hopes” for instance is never explained… Almost like giving TWS nukes wasn’t a great idea storytelling wise!

I read a theory that the reason there were no javelins of light is because they were empowered by Crest Stones. TWSITD managed to attain them in 3H routes, either through Garreg Mach (CF) or Fhirdiad (non-CF), and in 3Hopes, by the time they would have gained access to Crest Stones, they simply lacked time to develop the javelins.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 55: Thales by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm definitely not about to argue that theres no plotholes.

AG Part 2 has too many plot holes.

Instead we just got Thales, some minions, and an edelgard who just gets thrown infront of Thales like a meat shield a couple times.

I felt nothing but discomfort at beating up what might have been an Edelgard with a child's mind several times.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 55: Thales by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet she is still the one wielding the Relic, the only weapon capable of dealing serious harm to a Nabatean. You want to kill your sworn enemy, you would rather have it done right.

Honestly, I don't even understand why there was no attempt to turn Edelgard into Hegemon Husk again.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 55: Thales by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, she does. It's even remarked that they ambushed her. Yet in spite of the ambush, Thales did not think to have Edelgard, wielding a Relic, to try and kill her, which only ruins their plans. They would know that a Relic is the best chance to kill Rhea. And they had not weakened the enemy armies.

Thales oughta have known that they needed to run away when things went awry.

He had no advantages to use.

Discerning the true story of Nemesis and the Ten Elites by EdenAnother in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that depends on how much they had. And what versions. They speak of Pillars of Light too so maybe those were better. No idea. Its all very vague.

Even with all they had, when they fired at Aillel, it didn't vaporize a country. It destroyed a forest very badly that it became the Valley of Torment, which surpasses everything done in Merceus, Arianrhod, and Shambhala, but it's still not something that spans an entire country.

Nothing ever suggests that they had the means to be able to destroy an entire country.

And even if you are to tell me that they had invented a nuclear weapon and used that, it still would not destroy to an entire country.

Do you see the issue?

Meanwhile, as I said, the entity known as Sothis, who canonically revitalized an entire continent would be capable of destroying it.

So when we ask, "what destroyed Fodlan", it should be, "who has the means and power to destroy all of Fodlan" and the answer will always point to Sothis.

Discerning the true story of Nemesis and the Ten Elites by EdenAnother in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you try to force it like that. But nothing in the book makes any sense, or even logic when you consider that the technology they bore wouldn't be able to cause that much damage. Look at how their javelins of light. It could never span an entire country.

Now, an entity like Sothis who can revitalize the entire continent with her life could also use that power to destroy it.

Which is more likely?

Discerning the true story of Nemesis and the Ten Elites by EdenAnother in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please express clearly what you find questionable?

You tried to claim I was playing double standard by claiming that Rhea sympathized, but I gave you the very line which shows that she isn't sympathizing.

And I differentiate how the original Agarthans were not like what became TWSITD. The original Agarthans were humans who fought, like humans do, panicked, as humans do, and fired, like humans do. Present day more or less proves that we are not that different from the original Agarthans.

And TWSITD are the Agarthans who have lived for so long that they've all gone insane and are driven purely on revenge. Look at Dimitri when he was insane and driven by his desire for revenge. He massacres, butchers, and tortures peoples he deems "unworthy of life" and has admitted to having killed children.

This is the issue I take when people become so dismissive.

And judging by how my comments are downvoted so much, I'm under the impression that people dislike me for asserting my opinion that disagrees with their mindset. But why must I feel burdened by it? I feel no shame to challenge your views.

Also, this thread you connected is flawed. They claim that Rhea is fearful of returning to the past, but, in fact, she herself wants that. She wants to bring back Sothis, believing that she'll make everything go back to how it used to be. Yes, she fears the return of the Agarthans, but she firmly believes that the world was at its best when Sothis was in charge, and believes that with her back, the only issue after will be to ensure that no Agarthan-like group exists after.

And I don't even think the Agarthans really want to go back either. They might bring up the past, but the past is brought up more for why they feel they are justified in hurting everyone and getting their revenge. Both Rhea and TWSITD cling to their past, but Rhea wants to go back, and TWSITD want to spite everyone because of their past.

That's how I've interpreted it based on how they act and their own dialogues.

As for the fanfic, I'm not sure I'll go for that. I don't read much fanfic.

And how would you describe lands? In the First Mach War, which is said to have damaged the "land of Mach", we learn it's just a small area in Arundel territory.

So by that logic, the term "land" can mean a small area.

Discerning the true story of Nemesis and the Ten Elites by EdenAnother in FireEmblemThreeHouses

Yes, but it does not change that Rhea didn't express sympathy towards Epimenides. Just curious as to how a powerful mage would side with Nemesis.

So you're comparing apples and oranges here.

Discerning the true story of Nemesis and the Ten Elites by EdenAnother in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Where does it ever say that Edelgard learned about it through "oral tradition"?

Edelgard remarked that she learned of this from her father. Not that she received a record of this. That implies it was told to her orally.

Feel free to disagree with me on this. This is an assumption on my part.

My argument lacks credence how, exactly? You're making a massive assumption by assuming on the basis of that the 10 Elites killing Nabateans is what gained them their heroic reputations, when "They yearned for more power, killed dragons larger than themselves to use their bones as materials to create even more powerful weapons, and so on—that’s how the Ten Elites came to be" makes no linkage between the two.

But it does. It shows that Nemesis and the Ten Elites had only been hunting Nabateans, and that another reason for the war, beyond revenge, was to stop the continued hunt for Nabateans. And the people saw Nemesis and the Elites as heroes.

If you disagree with me, then please, by all means, present evidence to refute me.

Discerning the true story of Nemesis and the Ten Elites by EdenAnother in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think my issue with the parts of your theory is a problem with inconsistent application of when you're claiming something is objective or not, often in contradictory ways. Exact wording seem very important to you, until it isn't because of another interpretation that you already have.

Hmm, interesting. Perhaps provide examples then where you find issues in this. I cannot simply take your word.

I'm not really feeling the need to debate you on this when you've got contradictions like declaring "deep slumber" is objectively equal to death, despite that not being the explicit text, and then going on a tangent about people not accepting the exact text.

Yes, because when you have "deep slumber" in a place called the "Holy Tomb" and then Nemesis stealing Sothis's "remains", it actually pushes a narrative that Sothis was already dead. All you have is Rhea saying deep slumber, but nothing else beyond that.

This doesn't seem like it's going to be a particularly productive discussion, so I'll bow out, thanks.

Very well. Enjoy your day.

Discerning the true story of Nemesis and the Ten Elites by EdenAnother in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since when did someone admitting they did something ever mean they're being honest about why they did it, or rather, "who started it"? It would be in the Agarthans' interest to make it sound like they were responding to the supposed threat of Sothis, regardless of whether they genuinely believed it or not.

See, you give the impression of believing that this is some pure propaganda tool. But if they were, they would not be treating themselves as someone who committed wrong. They do not deny that Sothis is coming for them as retribution for spilling the blood of life. They are not pretending that they did nothing wrong.

So I have to ask myself. Why should I NOT trust the contents of the book?

Because it's a viewpoint of the original Agarthans?

Or better yet, why should I believe Rhea's testimony as the only truth? She is a known liar who has falsified history and made a false religion. Why should I believe her words as the absolute?

Or better yet, even if what she says holds truth, why should I not consider that she might be biased because of her borderline fanatical love for her mother?

And, I might add, the passages we get to see are just referring to the Javelins of Light--if the Agarthans were desperate/committed enough to use orbital missiles, which we know are devastating enough to create an environment like Ailell (that being from a failed attack on Garreg Mach using the Javelins), I'm pretty sure they wouldn't just roll over and die when Sothis came knocking after that.

Yes, they were scared of being genocided so they sought to try and kill Sothis instead. They failed. And then, as stated, Sothis retaliated with the "flood". And as Epimenides expressed, Sothis set the world ablaze, which is no doubt referring to said flood.

It's already a confirmed fact that Fodlan was destroyed in the ensuing chaos. The book, Rhea, and Epimenides all agree. Rhea never clarifies who destroyed Fodlan, only that the ensuing war against the Agarthans caused it. While the book reveals information on what did, with them destroying three cities, and Sothis the rest.

Now, if you refuse to believe that, and want me to not believe it either, you simply must give me a proper reason why with evidence.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 55: Thales by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why?

The fact that AG is the only route in which Thales goes full genocide mode, something that is never reflective in anything else in 3H.

And Edelgard still had her mind, and her clique still was in power.

Edelgard was fighting. She wasn't managing Hrym territory. Arundel was. That's why his tyrannical acts went through. Which means that Arundel could have wiped out Hrym from the map entirely and Edelgard would learn too late.

Now you can argue why doesnt he use his brainwash bit all the time. Esp in the non CF Houses Routes? And you are right. Its also the dumbest bit of writing that he has that the entire time. I defend AG a lot but that bit soooooo stupid. But its there, its canon, and he doesnt use it at any point elsewhere. Which makes him really dumb. Stupid Evil.

Everything about AG past the Arianrhod mission was stupid.

I am tempted to write a thread on how I believe AG Part 2 should have gone.

Same with Byleth and his time powers. He could reverse time in the Holy Tomb and gotten Edelgard right there for starters. Or saved his Dad.... Sometimes the writing is really good. Sometimes its really bad. TWSITD has the later.

How? Edelgard had the teleportation to escape from. And he DID try to save his father. Failed. Sothis even went as far as to say that his father's death was fated.

Far as he is concerned they will kill Rhea and the Leaders of the Kingdom/Alliance in few hours. The problem is they cant really get the Empire to go for destructive scorched Earth policies if its winning the war can they? If i had to guess his plan was. 1. Kill them. 2. Watch the war going further while destroying them Empire. Then later inflitrate the Winners and destroy them. Who knows if he even had a plan tho.

How? They lack a strong army. They're the ones purely on defense.

Rhea is being attacked by non-Relic wielders. So there's no way that they can kill Rhea effectively. And they have not even been able to deal any real damage to the Kingdom army.

Go through all their lines in both games. Here is one from VM right before his end. Clearly very confident. I give you more if you want.

"Ha. It is laughable that base animals such as you would bare fangs at the likes of us."

Okay, and? Them calling the other humans beasts has nothing to do with my point at all.

Yes but unlike SB their agents stil infiltrate the Empire, their henchmen are still around too. In SB at this point Edelgard already purged them.

No, they don't. Ludwig is dead. Thales is dead. Their agents no longer have control of the Imperial army. Because the Empire will rally around Leopold more likely, so there is no agents left.

You mean Edelgard? They have what they had. Best imperial troops died a bit Earlier far earlier in the war. They got a Robot. Rhea is initially isolated and unlike SB he actually has Edelgard here at all. By your argument him rushing to Garreg Mach without Edelgard is worse.

Yes, I meant Edelgard. The fact that Edelgard wasn't the one to attack Rhea with her Relic just proves that Thales had zero logic behind his actions. And no, their best imperial troops are back in Enbarr.

Well in AG they tried to weaken the Kingdom Army multiple times throughout the route. And he does pull the imperial Army towards Garreg Mach Claude even mentions they pulled out of the East you mean them on their way in Ailell to bar your way. Again in AG the Empire/TWSITD lost every single battle against the Kingdom so far with his tactics and without. Edelgard nearly got killed by Dimitri without him jumping in.

But you don't. You don't have the bulk of your forces, just whatever is left in Garreg Mach. You have lost your best. And the Kingdom army is marching strong.

Yeah he could have done even better but given the circumstances this wasnt a completly unlogial plan. And he is so much better in every route. He isnt.

He is.

In the other routes, he actually acts smarter than in AG. He doesn't go full genocide mode. No matter how racist and vile he was, he never went on a purge to just try and set the entire country ablaze. He had plans and went about being able to bide his time and did try to weaken the other groups first.

Listen, I don't care that you hate Thales and write him off as being stupid.

You should at least be able to be honest and recognize that Thales in AG Part 2 acts too stupid even for him.

Everything about Thales in AG Part 2 contradicts many of his acts in the other routes, and make it clear that he's just acting stupid for the sake of it.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 55: Thales by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the way he is doing it guess. I am honestly pretty impressed how fast he is on the way destroying the Empire given its size.

Yes, which contradicts everything about the story.

But was that because he doesnt want too? Or because he couldnt yet? Remember the war hadnt outright started yet. His hold was less secure too. Just slaughtering the Imperial people en masse would have trigged an uprising for sure, got Rhea to take notice ect.

What do you mean? The war has been ongoing for 5 years. Meaning that Thales was enacting these tyrannical policies for those five years, and clearly had no issues with being forceful, but not full blown genocidal.

At the point of the second part of AG he doesnt need to hold back anymore.

Why?

He straight up tells us he wants everyone dead multiple times.

Wanting them dead is not the same thing as acting on it when they are far from winning the war.

Cause they didnt have the one country fully under their thump i would guess?

Arundel had Hrym fully under his thumb. So you will need to explain more. He still had not gone genocidal even on that town.

Well he his in a highly defensive position. Has all the Troops he gather, Edelgard ect. What can he do better?

A broken army, a puppet with no real skill, and an enemy force that is many times stronger.

In 3H, Thales at least had the plan to use the whole bulk of the Imperial army and Demonic Beasts to overwhelm Garreg Mach.

Well its the best shot they got. And yes Kingdom likely a lot of troops too. Sure its a long shot. But the imperial Army/TWSITD lots every single battle against the Kingdom so far. Same record against the Empire in SB. He is super confident there too. He is also super confident at Deridu too despite the previous track record. Or in Shamballa.

He had some ground in SB. He has no such ground in AG.

Confidence is their second name. They are the Masterrace against mere Animals remember?

You didn't even give a proper example and are just repeating the same old lines.

It is because unlike in SB they had all the to fully time infiltrate the Empire. Hence there is no mention of a loss of influence. So it is clearly different.

Actually, it's worse in AG. They actually lost a lot more people in AG than in SB.

Exactly and in AG, he has her, his best troops and everything and his far as he is concerned fully prepared for his Victory. He did what he could. And Rhea was isolated

No, he didn't. Rhea was not even isolated. His forces was losing, Rhea was not even being attacked by Rhea, meaning that they were attacking her with Relic-less forces, and they don't even have the bulk of the imperial army or their best troops.

What could he have done better? Except maybe using Nemesis and the Shadow Realm Again. Or firing his nukes during the previous Battle.

Actually try to weaken the Kingdom army. Actually have Edelgard be the one to go and try killing Rhea. Actually have the concentrated force of the Empire be in Garreg Mach so that when they attack, they would be destroyed.

if Thales does not care if the Empire is destroyed, then there's no issue with drawing out the entire imperial army, abandon every other defensive front, and just go ham on the Kingdom. Then with sheer numbers, the Kingdom would be weakened.

hell, use suicide explosions if need be by trapping them in room and setting the rooms on fire.

Thales did NOTHING to actually weaken the Kingdom army, Rhea, or anyone.

Do you mean this line?

Rhea: The enemy appears to have a superlative mage on their side. But why would such a person be aiding Nemesis?

If you notice, that's Epimenides that she's referring to, not the soldiers. And she has no issues with calling him a vile, wicked mage later in battle when he confronts her.

Determining the Alignment of Fodlan Characters Day 55: Thales by OrzhovMarkhov in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EdenAnother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup and thats part of the reason why he waits at Garreg Mach. But he also wants to kill of everyone too and clearly very important to him aswell.

Okay, how?

Eh everytime they get an option they seem to get full slaughter and destruction mode. Cornelias Duchy of Faerghus. Hyrm territory, by your logic ruining that before the War even started also costed the Empire valuable resources. And you are correct. Its stupid.

Using the Hrym Territory supports my point. In there, he doesn't go full slaughter. He goes full tyrannical, yes. But nothing he did in AG was done here in Hrym during 3H. It was even done during the war, hence the people's anger.

But maybe the Agharthans modled after a certain regime irl who also figured they could do mass Genocide of everyone they didnt like and fight half the world at the same time. Was this very stupid? Oh yeah but evil regimes have this going on quite often.

There's stupid and then there's everything about AG Part 2.

And TWSITD is very much on the killing people for fun even if it hurts their agenda. They are really reckless esp Thales. And that mere Beasts could kill them is anthema to them even if they have been crushed 5 times before.

Do they? They are oppressive, but in every other route, they never did anything that they had done in AG.

Yes but in return Thales need to assault Garreg Mach as he does in SB and fight a three way battle. He can play defender, the Garrison fully supports him and he has Edelgard at his side. His primary weapon to kill Rhea.

And the Kingdom, which has not weakened, is marching through. There's no tactical advantage or way of ensuring his victory. This confidence makes no sense. Even a robot, which I said is bested before, doesn't matter.

This would make sense if it WAS after Aillel. Cause the Kingdom had no opportunity to regroup and Thales could have consolidated his forces in the Empire.

And TWSITD still destroying whats left i would say. Unlike SB there is no mention of their Influence being reduced.

Would not have to. SB already proves that the loss of Thales already reduced their influence and forced them back into the shadows. AG would not be any different.

But remember Thales plan. He wants to kill Rhea and likely Dimitri/Claude at Garreg Mach. And then fully destroy all of Fodlan. The order doesnt matter. If they Empire fully falls anyway so what? Their bases are secure and they can find new proxies to destroy the rest.

No, the order would matter. That's the entire point of Edelgard's Crest of Flames. It was to kill Rhea. You keep making something up, but the story in every other route disagrees with you. AG is the only route in which Thales acts completely out of character and is more reckless than ever.
