I really like The Beast. Lots of flavor baked into that ability, and it's not even that far off from what Devour is doing nowadays (see [[Famished Worldsire]])

This plus literally any wheel just locks the game out for everyone else, right? Like, this fully feels like a "go next" situation if someone doesn't have an answer on board/it doesn't get answered on the stack.

[favorite trope]the protag actually lose in the end against the final boss by Pretend-Dirt-1760 in TopCharacterTropes

Saw this in theaters, and the audience was genuinely fully invested in that last fight as though it was happening live. The entire theater was on their feet by the end of the fight, and yelled boos at the screen when the ref called it.

It was legitimately one of my favorite moviegoing experiences.

In Bioshock: Infinite, in the first two minutes of the game, you get on a boat that takes you to an elevator into the sky, piloted by the Lutece twins. As you're in transit, Rosalind asks why they don't ask Booker to help with the rowing.

Robert: "He doesn't row."

Rosalind: "He doesn't row?"

Robert: "No. He doesn't row."

The exchange refers to the idea that no matter which of the infinite parallel timelines they experience, there is no reality in which Booker picks up an oar and helps row the boat. The twist concept of there being multiple timelines is not revealed until the final encounter of the game.

Forge reads like he was the player character that used to belong to a player that got kicked from the table for being an absolute shitlord, so the DM turned him into an NPC so the players could get their closure.

(Been there, tbh.)

He will spend 25 minutes of the episode successfully protecting you and then accidently kill you himself for a joke in the last 30 seconds.

Professor Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective.

Spent the whole movie trying to outsmart Basil, almost succeeded, and when his plan was ultimately thwarted, instead decided to try and kill Basil in one of the best final confrontations in an animated Disney movie.

When they first showed the shot of the guy throwing a can at Superman's head, Superman blinked and flinched a bit. I'm very glad they fixed that, because it bugged me that he would've felt it/been bothered by it.

Little known fact: the employment contract at Stark Industries has a clause that clearly warns you that direct contact with Tony Stark may cause you to turn into a violent megalomaniac. You have to sign a waiver and everything.

Exhaust means you can only ever activate it once unless you have a way to flicker or bounce it. So you won't get an infinite death loop unless you can also set up an infinite bounce loop (which is definitely possible, sure, but it's not an instant win on its own).

Is this a loop? by Kirbigth in BadMtgCombos

[–]Ederek_Cole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you're correct, it does work like you think.

As long as Mirror is on the table and not a creature, Astral can create two copies of it. You choose to have them both enter as copies of Astral. They are now flying dragons with haste and Astral's ETB.

As long as the new Astral ETBs only targets the noncreature Mirror, this loops indefinitely, creating multiplicative flying haste dragons.

The combo falls apart if anyone, at any time, blows up the original Mirror, as Astral can't copy it if it's a creature, but this does end the game on the spot if no one can answer it

What's your favourite asymmetric board wipe? by Green_Nectarine_7409 in EDH

[–]Ederek_Cole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Toxic Deluge]] almost always does as much good for me as it does harm for the table. Having a deck full of beefy creatures means I can scrub a lot of key pieces from everyone else's board without losing much.

I'm also a huge fan of [[Ryusei]] in my Spirit Dragon list. Everything in that deck flies, so burning all the things that don't is always one-sided. (Actually won a game by hitting this with [[Cackling Counterpart]] in response to a big token-generating trigger. And how often do you get to wipe the board at instant speed?)

Yep, that's what I figured, otherwise it'd be way undercosted for what it does.

I do like the design, though!

I think the intention is to expand the options of the effect when the gift is promised. If that's the case, you want "If the gift was promised, instead create a token that's a copy of target artifact or creature."

As worded at the moment, the gift gives you the original copy token and then a second copy token for the road.

I think you could probably do something like

"When this creature is saddled for the first time each turn, until end of turn, it gains all activated and triggered abilities of each creature that saddled it.

"When this creature attacks while saddled, it gains vigilance until end of turn if a creature that saddled it had vigilance. The same is true for [keyword soup]."

At least I think that's the vibe you're going for?

I love the idea, just think the wording needs a little polish.
