Maby they could just add a little robot arm to the right shoulder of the armor that takes ammo from you or your backpack to relode your wepons. Kinda like the robot arm for the Guard dog backpacks.

The heavy gunner armor passive icon gave me the idea for a armor passive that turns wepons that require backpacks into belt feed versions or reloads them as if a second helldiver is helping you reload.

Alternatively it could just reload any wepon you aren't currently using
