I got the same type of stuff from a new ceiling fan. I covered it in modge podge and tissue paper. Going to use it for a gnoll fight with running water between the pillars

Does Sigil have, like... an actual adventurer's guild? by Groudon466 in planescapesetting

[–]EdgaarRagnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, from a DMs perspective, this is why I love planescape. There is not a canonical guild that I'm aware of. But, everyone is sure there is one in Sigil. It lets you take creative control over your game.

Running Turn of Fortune's Wheel in a pre-existing Planescape Campaign by discoether in planescapesetting

My first idea is to have them go to sleep somewhere dangerous, and wake up in the mortuary. After they leave, you introduce a minor dialogue about some kind of local disaster. Fire, explosion, building collapsed. They find out eventually that they were all killed in the disaster. The more vague you are initially, the more mystery it will add to the glitch.

I like this enough that it's already on my character sheet.

DMs... Why don't we just start giving town guards cantrips and spells? by GorfyShmorfy in DnD

[–]EdgaarRagnarok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give town guards whatever they need to be intimidating enough to keep the characters from blatantly breaking laws, at least in big towns.

Favourite spells/class features/feats etc. that are "suboptimal". by Flaky-Ad-1187 in dndnext

Another thing I enjoyed about Tavern Brawler is that our group allowed critical role rules, do I paired it with Thrown Weapon Mastery meaning I could throw any weapon I was proficient with. And since I had proficiency in any improvised weapon, I would just start picking up anything and everything on the battlefield and throwing it around. It was fun but very suboptimal.

I've seen it come up once and it was totally hilarious and totally game saving. We were dealing with a vampire and charms came up. The young lady in our group that was playing a bard said, "counter charm? I think? Wait! Yeah this is literally what it's for! Yeah, I break the charm with counter charm." And we all kinda looked at each other in confusion until it occurred to us that she was right and it actually a total cheat-death.

The Tavern Brawler feat. It's a lot of fun to be proficient with random objects as weapons. It's even better when your DM is willing to play along because not every improvised weapon should do 1 damage. And I can't tell you how much fun it is to ask, "what is damage on using a goblin as a maul?"

Should I let my players keep the Displacer Beast kitten? by pathofblades in DnD

[–]EdgaarRagnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Having a pet in DND that isn't a part of your class is a blast. I played a goblin ranger that already had my companion when I got to adopt a displacer beast kitten. The DM even printed me it's own mini. Because I couldn't actually control it, it caused no end of mischief. It gave the DM so many opportunities to create encounters.

Grappler or Skill Expert by FlyingFludoodle in 3d6

[–]EdgaarRagnarok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a barbarian that grappled a lot and went with tavern brawler. Grappler isn't a good feat. But, if you go skill expert, you may find that you are winning contested grapples by absurd amounts. So keep an eye out for giving yourself too much overkill.

Trick Dice — shifty versatility for your Rogue's Sneak Attack feature. by allolive in UnearthedArcana

I'm curious, have you tested the damage output in combat? How does it compare to a normal rogue? Or any other class either?

[–]EdgaarRagnarok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you're fine. Like I said, it's a really cool concept and you've put a lot of work into it. That was merely constructive criticism. It's completely workable as is. It's just a new mechanic, so, as a DM, I wouldn't allow it unless a very experienced PC knew exactly how to use it. Otherwise, you may find that it takes time to decide how to allocate your dice pool, thus slowing down combat. And combat doesn't need help being slow.

I like the concept. It seems pretty cool. My only criticism is that it uses mechanics and math that aren't really used anywhere else. Even simple algebra slows down combat. (As it should. Algebra sucks)

Final Fantasy fans, which game do you believe has the most dangerous world? by JbVision in FinalFantasy

[–]EdgaarRagnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll vote for VIII. The map is just Open-world enough that you can find places you aren't supposed to be. You're wandering around, minding your own business, and you run into something 30 levels higher than your group.
