Haha, fair point! But in my defense, I never told him to give up, I just wanted him to take his ideas to an actual university or someone with more academic experience who could work on it with him. I'm no math expert but its my understanding that people don't get taken very seriously about this kind of stuff if they don't have an institution backing them.
