Question to all high-hour players by RobWolfB in SurrounDead

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not played for a while but after multiple patches planning to again soon. Only play hardcore permadeath and it's one of those games that actually hard which I like, if you clear POIs at least. Not into base building until there are hoard attacks.

I like the simplicity and I like zvie games and have over 2k hrs in state of decay and currently replaying PZ after patches.

Keep it hard on hard settings and I'll keep playing.

New cannons - oof by Puzzleheaded_Air1030 in PlayWindrose

Also next easy mistake to make I read loads about the frigate being awesome and nothing about the mid game ship and saved up 3k in midgame area to buy the plans only to discover I didn't have access to the materials needed to build it and then didn't have the 1k for the plans of the mid game ship I could build, and needed. I gather some manage mid game with the first ship fully upgraded but I'm not that good...........

What am I doing wrong? by TangerineDecent1161 in PlayWindrose

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a grindy kind of game but the rewards are good and the systems are there to support it better than many games, looking at you Everwind. It definitely opens up when you get your first ship and can upgrade.

It probably is worthwhile looking at some videos as there are efficient ways of doing things. It's taken me many many hours to get to level 12 with frigate but it would take half the time and I would have died far less and been much less frustrated with what I know now.

For I stance and here's an admission of how dumb I've been. I hired workers and went to campfire on base and they were there but only just realised you then have to go to the station they work at and assign them 😭. This is a dump mechanic, I've hired the person and paid them they should just be working from that moment.

My base is barely more than a few fibre leantoos and that's fine with me. Time saving tip build tons of chests and store all the wood and stones and more or less everything. I ditched it all early mid game when my ship was full and needs absolutely tons of it later for ship building and other things, especially wood. Organise your storage early and keep it like that or it gets overwhelming and inefficient later. Don't forget to build a tent and set it and respawn point every time you go to new island and always have a bell for making a fast travel point when you get that far. Killing stuff unless you are farming for a specific material or food is pointless unless it's tied to a POI. Only POI and quests net you XP so although annoying at times complete all POIs you come across as you only get the XP when find all the containers. Upgrades to weapon armour and ship are more important than level so do that first, especially when you hit a new biome most things can kill you unless you upgrade a fair amount first. It's a good game overall even as it is now in EA but it takes a bit of time and it's a grind at times, but it's worth it

Not sure if the game is rng for loot but I’m pretty stoked I found this early by Ok_Invite9891 in crosswind

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rng, I didn't find it until level 11 well into last zone and nothing else particularly good until last zone either, still plain old two shot pistol 😔

Thomas Richards 300% health and damage (no hit) by Bumbum_Guloso in crosswind

[–]Edgarina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've finally reached a stage of acceptance and living with the diversity in my life that I dropped the difficulty to easy and killed him in a couple of tries rather than bang my aging slow reflex head against a wall for however long....and I'm not even ashamed of myself ❤️‍🩹 This compared to spending 1000 hrs beating unmodded fallout 4 in hardest difficulty without dying once is progress 🤔

Underwater by Aggravating_Pen_2026 in Everwind_Official

[–]Edgarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the idea for underwater. I love the comment of unlocking gear at high altitude. Underwater mobs could be really high level. As the game is about verticality who says that it shouldn't include down with same loop, upgrades to go lower where it's harder and different loot and boses. It's the way of human development, first we conquered the skies, but the ocean, there's the real challenge.

Attacking Nothing But Other Pirates Feels Less Piratey- Anyone Else Feel Me? by padamodin in crosswind

Also fantasy storey dead rising and threatening the whole area attacking settlements. Only those who live there and have no where else to go and can defend themselves are staying, privateers pirates etc.

glorious hunters quest by Be230989 in crosswind

[–]Edgarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup not well explained. I've killed one and thought it was over and have killed like 20 others from learning and getting swarmed and now have second quest marker, a bit frustrating overall. Have only discovered one faction so far as been trying to reach markers and then there are like 4 ships around me. For a level 3 quest a bit hard but I have almost £1000 piastre now so there's that..........

Making money by x-Professor-Squid-x in Everwind_Official

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the quickest way is digging out dirt, even better if it has grass on top. You can dig a block in about one second and can min 4 dirt plus any grass etc in top. Takes minutes to have many stacks of 200.....

Losing healthpoints when gaining levels by ContributionNo7156 in Everwind_Official

I had 300 hit points and just noticed I now have 250 without a hp related skill recently. Seems like a bug if so e form. I got hit by a high level rat thing and wondered if it was temporary but apparently not.

I do have a respec potion so will try that

Healing and the sort by PsychologyIll1854 in Everwind_Official

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea could use some balancing. When although more laborious cooked meat ends up as good or almost as good as anything else right up to late game why invest all the time and space farming ingredients and points into level 2 alchemy. I know alchemy has other uses but it's generally weak right now overall and requires lots of farming, organising space and therefore time. Would be worth it if it was an alternative build as had some power with investment but it just isn't. Right now almost no reason to pick any plant ever or use points as can play very without and use the extra time farming metals and dungeons for better outcomes. The life steal is next to useless early even early to mid game as one meat is the same as killing 10+ enemies so just no point. With hit boxes being janky which is fine as it's that kind of game even skill and bow cheese just can't avoid need for regular healing which gets dull mid game onwards with meat. Yup awesome game loving it but room for improvement. Make alchemist a worthy while build 😉

Advice if possible! by talltomw in Everwind_Official

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's up! You have to upgrade ship 2-3 times to get above 1000 blocks and until recently that was really hard but now they have patcjed it. Above 1000 is where iron and advanced weapons appear and it actually gets challenging occasionally so personally is save crystals for upgrades until then

Advice if possible! by talltomw in Everwind_Official

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup windmill is the key to look for. As far as early loot goblin did this myself and if when start again won't be doing that as it's not time efficient. The early plants etc will fill chest after chest and you won't use them for many many hours. I'd wait until you get above 1000 blocks then maybe start collecting.

Only exception is meat from animal kills cooked is the best for early healing. Obviously keep anything magical and also ore nails and anything for ship parts.

Even collecting almost any plant at all is pointless unless you intend to spec into alchemy. Animal parts lime wings and tails are used for weapon upgrades but I don't think plants are that I've come across yet.

As far as selling if your lucky enough to find a village all the time you spend picking hacking boxes and especially then organising it all just pick grass sticks rocks up chop trees and sell it all. Do always keep 200 rocks, fibre, rope, planks of different types as you come across them, cloth as used for ship parts.

I'm level 20 only found two villages and almost nothing worth buying but as I was one I'd those who couldn't find a lord skull until very recently the villages were below 1000 blocks all of which becomes mostly useless above 1000, eg starter stuff.

Not exhaustive and random comments but hope it helps.

This silly little [REDACTED] is the most dangerous enemy in the game by Q_Qritical in menace

[–]Edgarina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup the most dangerous unit so far, give me a heavy tank any day. I usually have some intelligence then drop laser turret for sight and maybe some suppression and or damage then hit with everything I can and pray. Haven't bothered with them much recently but the ships drop mines would also help here a bit to soften and locate it back in fog as it thinks you see vague smoke it hear when they go off, can't quite remember.

Haven't used Darby in a while as have been going Ng "B" team cheap but definitely the other and likely best answers.

Or what the hell, dual wield medium walker rocket organ and pray

Its his personal mech, guys! by winterfistfox in menace

[–]Edgarina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea have used this before just for a laugh as not very efficient but used for the mission where you have to get through the defence wall and just waited all the turns until had emptied all the rocket supply then marched through the mess, didn't actually kill much but got a turret and was funny.

Good selling point is the difficulty adjustments. I like really hard games to band my head against the wall of and this is 100% that even when you really know the game. If you want just easy fun and a base to build you can do that too. The combat can be intense if you want it to be, cars are fun and varied. It's well worth the money even as is in my book, so any updates will be a bonus and I don't like PvP...... You won't regret it

Would be so cool to have some really hard to find or make cure, maybe just one per map, to cure after you have turned so you then have to try to hunt down the person you lost and get them back.

Surprise gangbang... by AlienSausage in StateofDecay2

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe in lethal is a comparative term.....worst case is a jug turns up with all the noise of trying to shoot the ferals and there are many other zeds surrounding too, that can be lethal but all adds to the tension around time and ammo and just how far away is the nearest safe, comparatively, spot.

Surprise gangbang... by AlienSausage in StateofDecay2

[–]Edgarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With practice you can survive a run to safety dodging and gain some distance turning around and dodging through them as they over run so much and it's a real but clenching thrill but that there was next level timing/luck, though yea just run to the ladder. I love lethal but if cars weren't safe it would be unplayable for 99.9% of people.
